  1. That is normal, you need to get IDT tire. Its normally thicker smooth rubber, I have the Continental one and it works well. If you use your normal tires you will feel the flat spots on the road, or make that your idt tire now and get a new tire for the road.
  2. Saw the same thing this morning on my way in to Cape Town CBD, taxi wheel came off and he basically backed up traffic all the way up hospital bend, but again full taxi. Cops should confiscate and scrap these taxi, so that strong message gets sent to the taxi owners..
  3. Hi The bike is not at cycle traders its at Neil, another guy who deals in second hand bikes. You can go check out similar bike at Chain reactions, they have it advertised there for 21 or 22k on special. If you like what you see then contact me for the details of the owner of the spec. The spec also has carbon flat bar which was selling for around 2k so thats a nice extra as well.
  4. Hi The Specialized mentioned above has full warranty from Revolution cycles. At least see the bike in the flesh and ride it up the road to get a feel. Then you can make a choice, no pressure.
  5. Hi Hairy Will be coming into the CBD (Cape Town) from the southern Suburbs, will not be a long ride, probably around 17km each way.
  6. Wow, great response as usual from the hub. Makes my life very easy as I can now look at the ones suggested above and make an informed decision.
  7. Hi Will be starting to ride into work soon, I will need to buy a backpack for this purpose, which one are you using and what are the pro's and cons of the one you have. Would be great if there could be responses with what to look for etc , waterproof , back support, etc... Please also let me know where you bought it and how much you paid. where the best place to get the reflective bands as well and lights. Thanks
  8. Specialized road shoes about 3yrs old
  9. Because I want to go faster than a m5, which will be stuck in traffic on the m5
  10. Hi "Rosmead Avenue-Belvedere/Milner Rd-Park Rd at Rondebosch Common-Liesbeeck Parkway-Lower Main Rd" Would probably be the way I would get to the CBD, will be giving it a try as soon as the fast period is over.
  11. Thats what I think. Some of these guys take the N2 turnoff and go onto black river parkway. That section has lots of criss crossing of cars.
  12. I have been thinking abour riding into work from the Southern Suburbs. I notice a couple of guys in the peak hour traffic in the morning on the M5. Not sure this is the way to go though, is there anyone else who rides in from southern Suburbs and uses the main road, what are your experiences? Also if anyone does use the M5 what has your experience been, does the traffic officials not stop you as you ride past them?
  13. Check this article out: http://www.dailymuscle.com/2007/09/12/exercising-during-ramadan/ I plan on keeping the legs moving on the idt. Exercising During Ramadan By Mohd Shazly Khan Every day during the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world break their fast when the fourth prayer of the day, Maghrib, is due. They eat before the sun comes up at a certain time and after a certain time during the night. Its very obvious that the coming month will create a buzz for those who would like to continue working out. The common misconception is to cut back totally on our workout and resume only after Hari Raya (also Hari Raya Puasa, literally “Fasting Day of Celebration”, the Malay term for the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr). However I would like to think of it differently. Please note that these steps that I’m going to suggest works well for me, so it may not necessarily work as well for you. My best advice is to listen to your body. For me, its not really a question of “Should I train?” or not but rather what kind of workout and at what time I should do it. It is as straightforward as that. Some would doubt if cardio workouts are advisable since the body lacks water (fasting can make us dehydrated, symptoms are like fatigue, dizziness & headache). I would think of it differently, since the absence of glycogen due to fasting, then the opportunity to burn some fat should not go to waste. The only thing that we should make sure is not to over strain and stop immediately if we feel light headed. If we time our workouts properly, i.e few hours prior to breaking fast, we will be able to refuel shortly thereafter. We should avoid high impact sports during the day as we are not in the condition to endure performance sports. The other good time to workout is after breaking fast. However this is not applicable if you have just eaten a cow or something equivalent to it. Get the point? Be sure to consume small portions and stick to foods that are easily digested . Let me remind myself and all of you out there, that Mutton or Lamb are definitely not easy to digest. However, feel good to understand that digestion alone can consume up to 40% of our calorie output. As for weight training, I would only do them after breaking fast. To draw rapid energy from what is already lacking will result in our body drawing energy from other muscle and if I were to do weights, I will make sure that I drown myself with a protein shake right after the workout. We should lose fat, not muscle instead. Some would disagree, but more protein can help to generate more muscle, and more muscle means more calories being used to maintain them, thus driving fat-loss into overdrive. However if some of you decide not to train at all, you will definitely lose some size and strength just like the professional athletes who lose their stamina during an off season. The good thing is that we will regain it quickly if we work hard enough. The key lesson here is simply to be smart. Listen to your body. If it tells you that it needs to rest, then do what is right and do it smart. 14. Took it back to the shop to ask the guy to put the spacer on, he said that with the new cluster there was not enough space on the hub to put the spacer on. So have to tune the rear derailer. Woofie kept the wheels spinning last night
  15. Come to think of it, the guy who fitted the cassete yesterday took the spacer off the old one and did not add it back with the new one. That must be the problem, thanks guys.
  16. Hi Thanks guys. Yes using two different wheels, will try the cable tension. I think its marginally out. The 11-23 cluster I bought is not new, second hand looks to be in the same condition as my one on the wheel I use for the road.
  17. Hi I have an 11-23 cluster on my road bike, and a 12-25 cluster on my training wheel used with IDT. The gearing was slightly out with the 12-25 cluster (expected) yesterday I purcahsed an 11-23 cluster for idt and expected there to be smooth changing of gears etc like when I have my road wheel in. However the gearing seemed to be way off with sporadic jumps and out if sync action. Why should this be the case?

  23. I agree, have also been on their case after the Cape Cobra, was told that they were waiting for Argus to be completed before doing seeding run, now got the same response, waiting on racetec. Its ridiculous.
