  1. Jip that was me.....me and my old crumpy self....didn't enjoyed those beeeeeg bunches much..... I rode away on Helz just to get caught in Paarl by those big bunches...
  2. I'm really happy for you Hagar....hope you'll have many more painfree miles on your bike.
  3. 99 times out of a 100....accidents can be avoided.... the only time it can really can be considered an accident is when something unforseen happens like a burst tyre that causes a driver to loose control but otherwise accidents are usually "man made".....
  4. it seems these okes are pretty clever....they have been watching you guys for weeks now....and now since last week the attacks starts....because they know you'll be riding there.... So best thing to do is to avoid avoid avoid.....next week the group might be bigger and you'll be off worse. Please guys be sensable....
  5. Marius is referring to David Garrett not David George
  6. I fully agree with you Willehond....I still believe that the education-part should start at the Driving Schools. You won't be able to teach the old drivers much, but at least start by teaching the new/young ones how to drive amongst cyclists. Somewhere a long the line that education will filter thru to the older generation as well. And I also agree to teach at schools....the basic education of riding a bike on public road. Not like the kid who told me, when he was riding on the wrong side of the road: "so what" ..... Poison Ivy2009-02-04 07:23:43
  7. I also thought I just had a stroke and then I realised : no its just yellow
  8. This is really sad news to read this morning. My deepest sympathies to Craig's family and friends. and Rick, thank you for caring and helping. Seeing something like this happen, cannot be easy.
  9. Thank goodness, now I don't feel so "chalenged" any more....all I could see is Fashion/Wedding/365....couldn't find anything else.... sjoooooo what relief...thought I was like really stupid or something..
  10. Its like second nature to me, to move further into the yellow line when I hear a truck behind me. Especially here when the S/E is howling....and the female riders are much lighter and feels the effect of that "draft" a lot worse
  11. Shocking news to hear from someone I know personally. I wish you a speedy recovery, Estelle. Your in our prayers and thoughts.
  12. I don't get it. Just because you also ride a bike does this give you the right to be an enforcer of the rules? It's not even law that one needs to wear a helmet. If it were' date=' you STILL have no right to just wind down and chirp a complete stranger because of what YOU think is right. You telling me that when you see a person driving without a safety belt on, you roll down your window and say "Morning... Where is the safety belt?". By your logic, because you're also driving a car, you are connected by the 'brotherhood of road users'. You're lucky you only got a blank stare and not a cleat mark on the side of your car. [/quote'] I disagree....yesterday afternoon I did exactly the same thing just in a different context....a guy stopped next to me at a traffic light in his car (and I was in mine) and the passenger tossed a sigarette bud out of the window and I did roll down my window and asked him if his car's ashtray was broken....and don't tell me its not the same....the principal remains the same. There are ENOUGH a$$holes polluting our roads..... GREAT! I bet you felt glad that 'in principle' you did your bit hey wHooooooop!! Just be careful of poking your nose into things though. You might think you're a hero once too often, and one day you'll do this to the wrong person and get the living &%$#^% beaten out of you. Then you can tell everyone that you are in a wheelchair because of a stompie VERRRRY philanthropic of ya! Oh, and yes, helmets are law, so let a cop enforce it. Don't run around doing other peoples work. shame must be very sad and lonely on your planet.....I bet you are one of those people who always walk away when someone is in need is knocking on your door because you don't get involved or one of those people who always speed past a lady cyclist stranded roadside with a puncture.....because wHoooooop!! because I don't get involved..... Next time Cape Town burns down because of a sigarette bud out of an ignorant asshole's window.....you and I will chat again....have a super day !!
