  1. http://www.eurosport.co.uk/cricket/chris-cairns-ordered-me-to-fix-cricket-matches-lou-vincent-tells-court_sto4947222/story.shtml I'm following this with interest. I wonder if Mr Vincent thought of hiring protection...
  2. Now if only we can work a bit on his fielding. His catching in particular needs lots of work. He did however stick to the game plan exceptionally well in his last over.
  3. I heard that, and the likes of Kohli and Dohni seemed to have a giggle about it while our captain and team manager was talking to the match referee. If this happened here in SA the Indian team would have been on the plane home after the game already.
  4. A very disappointing end to the second T20 game. Fans throwing bottles at players prompting the game to be delayed. Players have left the field for a second time and it seems like the game is ended with SA winning by D/L 15 runs.
  5. SA woke up this morning knowing that we were party to the biggest upset in Rugby World Cup history. We cant exactly remove the coach and captain, remove the politics that hangs like a sewer smell over the team or substitute players who are clearly past their sell-by date with deserving young talent. All we can do is continue to support them and hope that they go forward showing their opposition more respect than what they showed Japan. The main problem last night was that we did not take the points on offer thinking that Japan was going to roll over and play dead. The captain should have made the hard call earlier to not kick for the corners with each penalty and to take the 3 points each time closing the game out much earlier. France against Italy was a good example of how to do this.
  6. The bond between a boy and his dog is one of the most precious things one can witness.
  7. At least Boy George didn't think up feeble excuses and took his medicine.
  8. Now all we need is a pic of his saddle sores. Come on Croeser, we all know that us mtb'ers are not the brightest smarties in the box, but do you honestly believe that we will think that you are THAT naive?
  9. True! You can bend stats anyway you want.
  10. and I can see that you should rather be posting in the comments section on news24 than here. Let me break it down for you. 1. There is a real chance that a purchaser out there buys a good second hand item to substitute it with a fake and then try to recover damages from the seller. Worst case scenario, a handbag slinging contest and much popcorn later he ef's off, best case scenario, the seller takes the goods back or offer to reimburse a part of the sales price. 2. The purchaser buys the goods because he has a trashed set at home, and then either try to recover some of the damages through shipping insurance or from the purchaser. Your self-proclaimed integrity means very little if you can't back it up when someone asks a real question on whether or not you have thought your response through. Stick around kiddo, you may learn a thing or 2, and not just about cycling.
  11. Really?! So how do you verify 6 months down the line whether the items returned were the ones sold? What is the fair price of wear and tear on the said items?
  12. Kagiso Rabada. Remember the name, because he's going to be the next big thing in SA cricket.
  13. best batting conditions will be day 2 and 3. Anything less than 450 and England will feel like they missed out.
  14. All square after day 1. Aus will want 3 wickets in the first session, Eng will want 500 on the board before they bowl. Lets see who sleeps better tonight.
  15. watched his run over and over to try and find any little mistake. There simply was none. What an amazing athlete. I hope that our Sport Ministry comes around and gives recognition where its due. What a legend!
  16. Here's what our 95 heroes are up to. What a diverse group of players! And so ended the amateur era where life after rugby was a big deal. http://www.sapeople.com/2015/06/30/1995-springbok-rugby-players-south-africa/
  17. I like the concept. Like the BMC concept it's simple, effective and will not cost an arm and a leg to maintain. I'd like to see a shoot-out with the BMC concept. Expect Specialized, Giant and / or Scott to launch something similar but different before Eurobike 2015... roll on 29 August!
  18. Your draw-back is my biggest positive. The reality of losing out because you miss the play-offs in the Currie Cup will force the bigger unions to acquire / develop sufficient cover for players doing national duty or players who are injured. This would develop better Super Rugby squads with more continuity between the Currie Cup and Super Rugby. Squads that train together since July will perform better than squads that train together from January and hopefully with better quality rugby, Currie Cup players will be better remunerated meaning that the talent drain up North will be slowed down. Fringe sides have an even playing field to crack it into the Super Rugby competition and alternatively they can benefit by loaning players to stronger unions for considerable financial benefit to these smaller unions if they don't make the grade.
  19. At least Meyer cannot complained about players not being rested enough. Basically the whole Springbok squad's been doing F-all for 3 more than months now. They also now have 2 weeks paid holiday before they all convene.
  20. I don't like the pooling of teams. This was tried in the past and failed dismally (remember the Cats?). The dynamic between players and coach gets lost and the continuity is lost from the Currie Cup. I agree on too many teams. The way forward imo is take your 3 or 4 best Currie Cup teams. The problem with the current format for me is all the home derbies and then 'conferencing' a substandard side into a home play-off. By using the CC as a qualifier you also blow some life into what has become a very incidental occurrence on the rugby calendar.
  21. Sure, but CSA can object if riders deserving of a place in the squad are omitted. They also make the decision on costs covered for athletes going to worlds etc. I'd rather see athletes getting financial assistance to attend these events than see administrators flying business class and staying in 5 star accommodation when they travel.
  22. If what you say is remotely true I suggest that you take it up with the PPA at their next AGM. All this cloak and dagger and "he-said-she-said" stuff does not interest me and by trying to discredit the PPA process I am not going to like the CSA systematic mismanagement of funds any more. I will send you my email address as requested per private message on the condition that I can send the letter you received onto the PPA for comment.
  23. How do you justify CSA's attempted highjacking of PPA reserves that the PPA built up with hard work, good corporate governance and good business decisions? Its like trying to justify E-tolling when the fuel levy was imposed to cover what e-tolling now need to cover. CSA took whatever they had and destroyed it and then tried to heist PPA funds. If they succeeded PPA would have been broke, and so would CSA as they have not been capable of managing funds historically. I am all for the seemingly positive strides CSA has made in the last 12 months, but will remain skeptical until they start performing adequately on their mandate. Like I said earlier, lets see how many cyclists go to Rio vs how many CSA administrators.
  24. Funny how pro CSA peeps always makes it about CSA vs PPA. Reminds me of the ANC blaming Apartheid for everything. PS: I can arrange discount on my car rental and I can arrange my own medical cover, organizing a well attended cycling race / funride / tour odf SA / SA championship is an entirely different matter.
  25. If they manage to turn it all around it would be quite an anomaly. Usually a radical turn-around is preceded by a huge shake-up in on an Executive level. Very few successful turn-arounds take place with the same people at the helm.
