  1. I like the look of Bavuma. He has shown some application and patience. He looks more like an opener than van Zyl. Lets hope he grabs this opportunity with both hands.
  2. The problem is that we all now sound like whiners, and we are probably too "gentlemanly" when we host other cricketing nations here. When last did we see a green mamba at Durban? Furthermore practically the whole squad is on the IPL payroll, so they can't really bitch about the way Indian cricket is run.
  3. 79/everybody. Not out finest hour...
  4. pray for rain!
  5. We let the game drift a little when Tahir was bowling. Morkel looking like he pulled a hammy will also put us under severe pressure when India bats again. van Zyl was out to a soft dismissal and Elgar was lucky not to be given out stumped (I still think he had nothing behind the line, but sometimes you need a bit of luck). Van Zyl does not seem to have the temperament to open for SA and no-one else seems to be knocking on the door with both knuckles bleeding. What I wouldn't give to see another "ugly" hundred from Biff to get us in a position where we cannot lose the game. My only consolation is that Van Zyl's wicket was a soft dismissal with him not knowing whether to play forward or back, and Tahir being used as a night watchman really only count for 1/2 a wicket. First session tomorrow is going to be key. 70 or 80 with 2 down will give us some belief that we can still win this.
  6. Enduro (in SA) is probably in danger of becoming "too mainstream". This is a good way to rid the discipline from the posers as doing the type of trails that was on offer at Eselsfontein probably only would appeal to the top 10% of riders skills wise. Admittedly I am nowhere near that level yet, and the "easier" Enduro labelled events does hold some appeal for those who enjoy going down at speed more than 80km races with 2500m of climbing. This type of event will probably not be a money spinner like stage races have become in SA, but it is no less important to improve the skillset of those who rate themselves in this discipline.
  7. True to an extent, but if your aim is to get 3900 riders through a section of trail in 10 days, you will find that beyond a certain technical level the trail riding experience evaporates into a trail walking experience. I am not clear on what the optimal number of participants would be for the next Ezel.
  8. I get why it is invite only. All I am saying is that it can cause problems down the line if people assume that they can just go off and try and find these trails on their own. PS: We don't have to be a chop about it. Your comments earlier about the gear indicates to me that you have very little interest in the event and you are merely trying to stir things up a bit. PPS: I ride a 29er and mostly lycra, so don't go put people in boxes, and stop being a box.
  9. It is a bit of an anomaly with photos and a good write-up of the event in the public domain, but with a disclaimer of being "invite only". I like the concept as the trails are very typical of the Western Cape Landscape. I often ponder why we try to be more like BC and Europe with trail building opposed to going for trials more similar to Utah. Places like the Cederberg and Matroosberg would be quite suited for more Utah-styled trail building.
  10. http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/springboks-lose-jersey-sponsor-20151122 ps: I don't buy the BS that it is because transformation is not happening fast enough. ABSA is bleeding and Barclays told them to turn off the taps everywhere.
  11. This puts back the Stormers at least 4 months (2 months since doing the deal with Eddie, and another 2 months before a new coach will take over). Any hope of being serious contenders has now seen its arse. I feel for the new guy that now has to step up. He'll be months behind the other teams and will still be expected to perform.
  12. awesome!
  13. Eddie se ma se p..s.
  14. A normal tennis ball lasts 30 seconds. I get him solid rubber balls.
  15. A week, 2 max. But he's so happy when he gets a new one.
  16. There is nothing like a new ball!
  17. RIP Jonah. I saw how you ran straight through Michael Cat at Newlands in 95. What a legend. http://m.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/34853536
  18. 95 = the first, 04 = 10th 14 = 20th 15 = 21st. Did Zuma help you count
  19. another day lost to rain. Perhaps this is the bit of luck we needed. With a result very unlikely in the 2nd test, your focus should be once we take the field again to bowl well against India on the 4th day, dry up any runs and give our batsmen as little time as possible to face any bowling from India on the final day. If we can manage to bat out a session or 2 on the final day and not lose too many in the process, we can enter the 3rd test with a bit of confidence from that.
  20. Then put your couch on the Amarok [emoji6]
  21. Now all you Pyga posers, please post a pic of your Amarok as well.
  22. People often do not appreciate what goes on behind the scenes on a tour like this. Historically we had a mostly fit squad, at least 2 bowlers and 2 batsmen in sublime form and a settled side. On this tour we had players needing to find form, key injuries and a measure of inexperience. As we do not get any coverage of our 4 day competition, we as the supporting public cannot make informed judgements about youngsters until we see how they shape up for the national squad.
  23. I demand a Movember selfie.. in the lift! Come on Evan, step up, or did the years of waxing your back, crack and sack affect the growth of hair on your lip.
  24. I expect flat tracks for the next 3 tests where each side scores 500 plus with not enough time for each to bat twice. India will load up with an extra batsman and we'll counter with an extra bowler.
  25. It seems like more of a case that there is a vacancy for opening and van Zyl applied for the job. Gibbs did the same thing as we historically had (and still have) an over-supply of good middle order batsmen. I'd prefer to see experience opening the batting. Perhaps du Plessis is an option to open.
