  1. Did you pause your watch at all in the run or maybe have it on automatic pause when stationery? The other reason for this is that you ran more than the 21.1km and they then adjust the time down
  2. Did the 21.1km. Cut 14 minutes of my PB. Clearly garden running did me good. Have you looked at the results? Finding it a bit hard to believe the 90km results. If they are correct, then hats off to the leading lady
  3. Only doing the half marathon on Sunday. No ways I would run 90km and then alone with no spectators - no ways!
  4. I have not been getting active days points since April 2020. My Active Days is showing up (mostly) with no point allocation.
  5. Our running club has let us know that The Department of Public Works has issued a notice that all officials that worked at Om Die Dam on Saturday could have been in contact with the coronavirus. Athletes told not to panic but to rather watch carefully for symptoms.
  6. All those training for Durban 70.3, I really hope they do not cancel or postpone this race. All the training I have dedicated to this race as well as the costs to enter - the Corona Virus had better be sorted out by then. I see IM has said that if a race is cancelled, we will be entered into next year and if postponed, we will get entered into the new date. I do not wish to even think of these cases.
  7. Thanks. It was linked before. Will give this a try
  8. Hard work is very real at the moment but loving the green ticks on Train Peaks. My very first triathlon and living in Gauteng I have zero chance of a sea swim until the day before. Eeeek Hoping and praying for great weather
  9. Managed to link Strava easily but when I click on Polar nothing happens. Anybody know why please?
  10. Did the Deloitte Phobean's Pretoria half marathon yesterday. If you want a hill challenge, do this one next year. Those hills will humble you. Better still - do the marathon and see the hills twice.
  11. Not that hard. Can you do pushups (ladies ones for the Mrs will be fine)? They also test your grip strength as well as make you walk up and down a step (time and height is determined by a programme).
  12. Where do we find a list of triathlon events in Gauteng please?
  13. Doing first triathlon - 70.3 Durban. Please can you give me some advise re trisuit? Thank you
  14. Well with that I have now lost interest in Multiply. I used Takealot to buy so many things as I got the nice discount. Seriously going to look at Discovery now.
  15. Thanks for the replies all. I am going to chat to a coach on Friday about setting up a timetable for training (he focuses on training for busy, time pressured triathletes)
  16. Aiming to do Durban Half Ironman in June 2020. I have run a marathon, cycled quite a few distance events but never swam. I can swim but am definitively not swim fit (in fact I battle to swim more than 6 laps of a 25m pool without feeling out of breath). Any suggestions please? Also when should I start doing some serious training in.
  17. Thank you. Glad you had a positive experience.
  18. Thank you for the pointers as well as the compliments. Will pass them onto the race organizing committee
  19. Well done. Please could you send me any comments to me - good or bad for Irene Running Club so they can take it up for next year. I was the mad marshal at the 40km mark BTW.
  20. Thanks. Ran alone mostly. Ended up in the 2 hour bus and went with them until about 11km when they left me on the hills. Ran along until the 2 hour 15 min bus came along. Ran with them but lost them at a water point so finished alone in 2 hours 20 minutes. The last few km is a killer, especially the 17 - 18km hill. Added to that, the wind was blowing quite strongly from the front in places and the last few km you end up among the slow 10km walkers so have to duck and dive between them as they take up the whole road.
  21. No pace setters for 2h15 or 2h30 for the 21km. Bleak. Have to pace myself. Those that have done Soweto before, should I hang with the 2h45 bus rather or is a 2h30 doable if I run a 1hour 10km (10km per hour)?
  22. Condolences to you and your family Stretch
  23. Thanks. Will be running half marathon at Soweto
  24. Not cycling alone, but Dual X as well as XTerra Buffelspoort
  25. Yip, you are right. Confirmed by doctor this afternoon. He has said no need to rest as it does not help. Must go for physio and can take up to 6 months to go away. My shoes only have about 500km on them but maybe time to look at new ones. Currently running in Brooks Ghost 10.
