It can’t unfortunately be done because everything has to go thru government.If private sector were allowed to procure vaccines things would happen a lot sooner. I currently work in 3 different hospitals ( 2 different hospital groups) and yes they are busy making preparations to start vaccination front line workers in the next few weeks. The huge problem and elephant in the room is the government timeline. There are approximately 1.1mil healthcare workers and 1.5mil vaccine doses coming in the first drop. Taking into account that this is a 2 dose vaccine there won’t even be enough to cover the healthcare workers (excluding vaccines that get lost,stolen or taken ph politicians that jump the que) The next drop in June is supposed to be for elderly,medically vulnerable,people in prisons and now taxi drivers but some of that will be needed to complete the healthcare workers vaccination.Normal young healthy public end of year. ( I only see SA been fully covered end 2022 and will continue in lockdown rollercoaster till then. Unless they of course ask the private sector to get involved.

My 2c is that it won’t happen this year.The date they are proposing we’ll be coming out of lockdown from the 3rd wave(not joking). looking at the vaccine plan the normal healthy population won’t see it this year that’s for sure.

Just a side note if the bike had cure ace 9070 on the the chances you going to get any sores are slim to zero.

Does he have second hand replacements that can get you going ASAP? if he doesn’t he’s sold you a bike that can’t even be ridden and has done nothing to even try help you out. Time to name and shame sorry. Just because they second hand dealer with good ratings means nothing unfortunately. Ive seen dealers on hub selling second hand bikes that I know have been in accidents,been repaired and sprayed but not disclosing this on sale.

Are the new derailers available and can be shipped immediately? I ask because there is a worldwide shortage of shimano at the moment. If he can ship derailers( new) I immediately I would take them and move on. If he cant ( which I suspect because of shortages) I would ask for refund.

I want to throw you a curveball John. At what age do you recon if you haven’t broken into a continental team or higher should you be looking at plan B. I ask because as you know there are many kids in late 20’s early 30’s still trying to break in.What age is too late if at that age you still racing local?

Also don’t forget that many cyclists at continental level don’t even get a salary.Its only once you start getting higher that you start earning.

I think the extremely important thing is ALWAYS to have a plan B.

Very easy Couple if tests by the guys at Sports Science can tell you what level you should achieve.Straight off the bat I realised I have the sports genes of a Cape Dassie and should not give up my day job.Along with those numbers and common sense should be easy along with true answers you must give to a couple of questions. How big is your bank balance?( if you looking at cycling be prepared to back yourself for years financially) What is the success rate of your chosen sport?( if you want to be a formula 1 driver realise there are only 21 spots) Am I allowed to say colour of skin?( many sports including cycling have quota systems that teams have to fulfill) Are you connected in any way?

Value is also changing every day.The top Spez costs more than a colnago nowadays but you will always have the sheep who will follow without knowing what else is out there.Spez has a shocking resale value while I have found resale on my colnago not too bad. out of the probably over 100 bikes I’ve owned over the years only Colnago have I regretted selling so much that I bought the bike back after a few months,and believe me I’ve ridden everything.

I have a bit of a problem with youngsters and parents pushing their children that aren’t realistic.We have led the youth to believe “ if you dream it,you can achieve it” which is actually BS.Nowdays every youngster that comes top 10 in local PPA race thinks they are WT material and will chase this dream pushed by parents believing this crap.Even if someone like John tells them they won’t make it they will still try.Hell I race with guys who are almost masters and still think that pro contract is around the corner.When I was young my dream was to be a porn star.Luckily I realised very early on I didn’t have the goods.

Just used what was on my last build.The sram crank was BB30 so couldn’t be used but luckily had a dura ace crank around. After having every group set on the market my favourite is still sram etap 11sp. To me 12sp has been total waste of time and increased weight across the group sets. campag just don’t make anything light at the moment.Sram 12sp has been a disaster from a unusable 10 cog to increase wattage needed for the smaller chainrings.Had di2 and loved it until something goes wrong and you need to plug into laptop etc.

Also heard that. Spez did better this year in June lockdown than last year. love them or hate them they doing well,got stock and are on the ball. I enquired about a top end 2021 supersix evo and was told they not sure if they bringing in “because the road market is dead” Spez can’t keep up with demand on road bikes.
