  5. The support car is more in the way of traffic than the riders, ive been in this situation plenty times. Cars get frustrated more because of the back up car than the cyclists. Ill rather ride without one, i feel safer. Bateleur put it well!
  6. Ja maar jy ry jou bike soos n rooikop stiefkind. Behandel hom met TLC en hy sal nie kraak nie. Nou sal jy maar vir die pram n crank moet opsit. Ducktape en bloudraad pappa.
  7. Jip i have done this before. bought from engen soneike, just tell them its for tomorrow.
  8. Hi Tyga. I am looking for a seat like this. I am also in stellenbosch. Any advice?
  9. Hi Allrounder Rolf Jonker, but no need to mention me. I would have loved to be at the ride and memorial but i need to be at melkbos 4x4 at 8.30 on saturday morning with my dad in law. He booked this for us a while back. Please give my regards to ShaneG and Gregs wife. I hope the guys arrive in the hundreds!!
  10. I also drove past a high school kid on monday just opposite soneike mall where he rode into the back of a stationary car that was parked in the yellow lane. Dont know how he did it. Broke his arm and was pretty bloody in the face and mouth. Its chaos on the roads. I have scaled down my riding a bit during this time and doing more chores around the house and gym/swim. I have a 2 month old at home and it freaks me the hell out to think that it could be me.
  11. CAM socks, 50 bucks a pair. Not for the looks, they fit great. Otherwise i work opposite the falke factory. Factory shop socks for 15 bucks a pair.

  14. Gimme Gimme some Lovin!
  15. From my Dad... Thanks to all the people that helped particularly Cass from Camps Bay and Sue from the UK who were first on the scene and stayed with me for an hour and a half. They were training for the Joburg to C I trust that it went well for them. Thanks to the Lakeside Fire Dept and to the Parks Board staff who were also magnificent. Thanks to everyone else that helped. According to the doctor it was a miracle that I got to the hospital without being paralysed with two of my neck vertebrae being broken in half. I now have a neck fusion and two months in bed to let everything heal but at least all my body parts are working. Advice to people in similar situations- don’t ride beyond your competency- I was but it is fun! Don’t move if you think you may have a spine or neck injury you cannot fix it once its broken. Take a cell phone and know where you are riding. And lastly I give thanks to Jesus Christ who comforted me through the entire ordeal and gives me peace. Peter Lord (neck breaker).
  16. Hi Joe, yes Peter is my father in law. I will keep you posted. Seems like his spirits is high. He said this morning "he has a very busy day ahead of him counting all the dots on the ceiling" in his hospital bed since he is all braced up. Thanx for all the well wishes. I will carry it over to him.
  17. Thanx Guys. He fell on the righthand side of the mountin (looking up). The singletrack just before the hairpin on the right, at the split that goes further up to silvermine or to the mast. At the lookout point. The is a single track coming down there in the clear. He fell halfway down that single track where the boulders has washed out and is now VERY tricky and steep drop off. Unrideable if you ask me. But I am a novice. He says he didn't choose the right line and his front wheel got stuck and he went over the bars. Landed on his head breaking the helmet and taking skin off his head and his back (on the rocks there I suppose). He knew something was wrong so he laid still till someone came along. He fell just before two and they got him off the mountain just before 6. No helicopters were available so we had to carry him slowly down to the ambulance waiting at the end of the track. It happens so quickly. Be carefull out there. But I suppose its part of the sport
  18. My father in law came off on Monday up on one of the single tracks in tokai. Firstly thank you to the couple who phoned us off my dads phone. (hope you are reading this). You were a great help. Then the guy with the specialized stumpjumper expert HT (he lives in Tokai). Thank you for staying with him till I got there and stayed on and rode with me down. Just some news on my dad (crazy fearless 60 year old). He broke his neck, two of the vertebrae in his lower neck broke, one broke badly and VERY almost paralyzed him as seen on CT scan..... He is being operated on tomorrow morning. They are fusing the vertebrae that are affected. THANK YOU for your help in a huge way!. Hope to see you out there again. Rolf
  19. This is great news!.
