  1. How good is he on wall rides and rock gardens?
  2. I had a skills session here with Chris Nixon about 4 months ago. He's a great guy; very friendly and down-to-earth. He gets right to the point about what you should be drilling into your muscle memory so that you build up the right base for more technical riding. As I understand it, he's overseen the construction of the pump track there too and it's the perfect place to build up skills incrementally. Highly recommended.
  3. The real test of droppers is the long-term reliability. Months of uppy-downy in different weather conditions. People thought Crankbrother's first 2 dropper posts (Joplin and Chronolog) were great for the first week.... But I'm stoked that there is a competitive local product emerging, I hope it measures up. Good review.
  4. It can only be described as nuclear green. http://www.simpsoncrazy.com/content/opening/hd/homer-plant.jpg
  5. I think you need to leave
  6. Yes. Go to the Eden forest car park in paradyskloof. There is a sign and map just beyond the fence. But in short, ride to the "white house" in eden forest (any person there can direct you), turn right at the house and I'm pretty sure it is signposted from there.
  7. They are doing great work there, dornier, coetzenburg, eden. It's a good time to be in stellenbosch. It doesn't happen for free though and there are a lot of bike riders around here - so (to everyone) you should make an effort to support their fundraisers.
  8. I think everyone's just having a laugh mate, it's not serious.
  9. It makes a lot of sense as a concept, it's just expensive. Neverending story (shown in the photo) is, like many trails in jonkershoek, a fun trail that goes downhill. I word it that way because it is not a "downhill"/DH trail. that requires a DH bike. With 140mm travel you could probably ride 95% of all the trails in the country without trouble. So if I could ride neverending story many times without the tiring climb back up, I would, and I'm sure most other people would too. So I can see the appeal. But then, I would rather spend that amount of money on something else.
  10. Oh but of course. Working in the afternoon in spain? Madness.
  11. Hahaha. It's true. Must be the same guys who take loads of KOMs even though they were "just riding along".
  12. I stayed with a Belgian family running a BnB in andalucia for a week and they said the hardest thing for them to adapt to was, in their words, "This culture of Mañana". ie: We can do it tomorrow instead. Probably worse in the south though!
  13. I agree, and I'm pretty sure you can see the external dropper cable on the left side of the post. So it can't be that. Hopefully not a known production issue. Lucky for me I don't ride hard enough to put any frames in jeopardy.
  14. I'm in the same boat. The Pike is the first decent fork I've had and I'm keen to learn to look after it myself. I've started a thread with that in mind: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/158407-taking-care-of-forks-and-shocks/
  15. No Worries - I purchased an XL already. Rather too big than too small....ahem. CWC only had horrific colours left (ie: not black) so I actually got a friend in the UK (who's flying over for a holiday) to pick a set up for me over there.
  16. Quick question - what size frame guard did you get (and what size is the bike?). I've got a large and am wondering if an XL frame guard is the way to go. Thanks.
  17. Hahahaha. Glad to hear I'm not alone. That injury is a bit of a game-changer. Previously all the falls I'd had just resulted in grazes and bruises so I had come to think that this was all that would happen if I tried something beyond my skill level. "It wont be that bad if I fall..". No. It will be much worse.
  18. Ja that was me. The pascoe arrived and I love it. I did have to spend 3 months just looking at it though because 1 week into owning it I managed to run out of talent on a gap jump and separated my shoulder pretty badly. But back and riding again, so I'm sure we'll cross paths!
  19. It looks great, and I actually think I recognise the bike. I rode with a guy at the coetzenburg pump track a few months back who was either you or a guy with an identical bike. Wouldn't be surprising if it was a stock bike but pyga only do frames.
  20. They can call those colours whatever they want, all I see is 3 different flavours of Wimpy milkshake. That's not a bad thing though. I may grab myself a pair of the bubblegums.
  21. Great, thanks
  22. Fellow Pygaphiles - does anyone have any recommendations for a downtube (and general undercarriage) protector? I'm looking to keep paint chips and scratches to a minimum. Cheers
