  1. Jeez. His version really gets me in the feels. Which is quite an achievement. She had quite a rare vocal range especially for a female. Some speculate that she had that range as a result of abuse as a kid. She was often beaten into singing. May she rest in peace. Reminds me of Ray Charles. Who also struggled with heroine addiction. https://youtu.be/fRgWBN8yt_E
  2. Ya'll been married so long you forgot how dik inlove you were back then. I'm here to reignite that flame with some lekker wedding music. https://youtu.be/H1BKxYyJJJ4 https://youtu.be/z5dpYDTEMRU https://youtu.be/_XCVnV5CGh0 https://youtu.be/vDN5rG3wLa4
  3. It was the only thing on his list of requirements.
  4. Anyone seen this? https://youtu.be/9WJSdpE-sJQ
  5. I'm not even mad. That's impressive. Ag just watch it. Practically a right of passage at this point. And by this I mean the inner circle of quotes, parodies and memes. Its a pretty awful movie. But that's exactly what makes it so good. I mean there are lots of movies where the cheese is just too cringe to bare. But not this one. Top Gun went full circle. They lay it on so thick its glorious. I already have Short Term 12 lined up. I haven't even heard about it before you mentioned it. https://youtu.be/xa_z57UatDY
  6. I only saw Deadpool 2 last week. Didn't realise he was in that too. There really should be a rule against actors playing more than one superhero. Ryan Reynolds and Ben Affleck get a pass since their characters not in the same universe. I see Jamie Fox lined up for Spawn reboot. And a new Hellboy. No clue who though
  7. I call CGI. Hollywood no longer needs plastic surgeons. Just really good special effects guys. I mean. Now that I think about it. How do we even know if Tom Cruise is a real person? I read somewhere that he's learning to fly a fighter plane so he can do his own stunts for the Topgun sequel. Neither I or the precogs saw that one coming. One things for sure. They gonna have to think REALLY hard about the soundtrack. Because its gonna take something really special to take my breath away...again
  8. A bicycle, in its purist form. Whatever that means. Is in itself physical assistance. Its a mode of transportation far more efficient than just walking. Its why it exists as a tool to begin with. I can cover a greater distance quicker and with less effort while using a bicycle as apposed to just running. How well a bicycle does this depends on the bike in question. And many variables are to be considered. We've seen bikes become lighter, the range of drive trains have become wider, wheels got bigger, yada yada yada. And all these improvements have the same objective. To minimize input and maximize output. Why then, are e-bikes not just seen as the next logical step in our progression along the curve of improving this efficiency?
  9. I played those too back in the day. But WoW just eludes me. Seems like a game which requires a degree of commitment and responsibility. Especially with fellow clan members. That coupled with the games ongoing cost makes me reluctant to even give the free trial a go. My brother plays it religiously. And if I watch him, it seems pretty complicated. I get why its addictive. But WoW will be another title I simply refuse to get hooked on. I think Dota is less demanding of ones time and a better option for casual gamers. There's also League of Legends too which are both great alternatives. They're both also free to play.
  10. Oh and since we're on the topic of freebies. Battlefield 1 is now free on xbox live. I have a long history with the franchise and I've never played any of the campaigns till now. Its good! The only reason I gave it a go was because you're allowed to play certain content if you're far enough in your download. So after about 40% of the game was downloaded I could play the campaign while I waited for the rest of the game to download. Anyone who buys bf usually dive straight into the online pvp frenzie. And its such a shame that the campaign gets overlooked because they really put so much effort into it. While online matches are pretty intense. The campaign focuses a lot more on stealth, recon and tactical play. Which is quite surprising. AI is good too and the war stories are quite immersive. My favourite was playing Zara in the Lawrence of Arabia story. For a franchise that is pretty much focused on gun play. Wielding a sword while on horseback in an Arabian desert is pretty cool and they pulled it off nicely. https://youtu.be/Bbv_q9F-W_o
  11. Pretty good cast of voice actors as well. Gina Torres from Suits. Nathan Fillion from Firefly and Lance Reddick from The Wire. So I think its fair to say the game is pretty focused on campaign and story unraveling.
  12. I have a mid tier machine. RX480 gpu, 16bg ddr4 and an i5 6600k. Nothing OC'd. I actually mentioned this earlier to friends in our whatsapp gamers group. Destiny 2 must be one of the best optimized games I've played in a while. The visuals are nothing short of breathtaking. And it runs butter smooth. Frames for days. Its as if I had a much better computer. Temperatures are also kept really low. The gameplay is also engineered really well. Movement and combat is crisp and accurate. Come to think of it, games like these suggest that other developers really have no excuse when it comes to badly optimized games. Proof that a game can be both beautiful and responsive without hogging too many resources. So give it a go. You might be pleasantly surprised. I'm still not sure how this game is setup. Or how to play the different modes tbh. I launched the game in a series of next/yes/ok to get going. There wasn't much options beyond some basic settings. It launched what I assumed was the campaign. Which I played alone. Then I proceeded to the next level where suddenly I was co-opped with someone else. So I'm not sure. This all happened on its own though. I have no clue how to play a pvp game or how that would even work. But I look forward to trying it out. They carved out quite a creative universe. But at the expense of some really cheesy presentation. Robots and aliens aren't exactly groundbreaking game content. But it also throws in some magic and prophecy type *** to mix up with all the intergalactic tech stuff. In some ways the game tries too hard to engage you into the story in this epic save the world type fashion. With some cringe humour thrown in. It also feels a too easy but then I only played it for a few minutes. The actual game play itself makes up for all of that though.
  13. Just a headsup. Destiny 2 is now free to play. It obviously excludes all the new dlc stuff. Still, its a pretty polished game to get for nada. All you need is a blizzard account. The battlenet app will gift you the game. The offer expires November 18th. If you get it before then its yours to play forever. https://youtu.be/hdWkpbPTpmE
  14. https://youtu.be/I_aTT6xxVL4 Choosing Rami Malek over Sacha Baron Cohen for Freddie Mercury was a ballsy move. But the risk paid off big time. Considering his performance in Mr Robot I assumed that he would at some point land a big role. But this is huge.
  15. Haha. We not so different then. I have a pair of those too
  16. Looks like a nes clone. Probably an emulator with pre-loaded roms. Great deal at R179 if you ask me. I'll probably get one for the nostalgia. I have several emulators on my pc for all the old consoles and arcade games. With literally thousands of roms. They are a pain in the ass to setup though. But once its done its done. My daughter is 6 years old and I showed her all the classic couch co-ops. Which we play occasionally. As far as couch co-op games go. We're hooked on this right now. https://youtu.be/0ZK7veYPEJQ I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. One of the most addictive games I ever played. Great fun. I also think its a great bonding tool. You HAVE to work together. We would be so much be further in the game if my daughter didn't always burn the soup! Anyways. It also tests your lateral thinking quite a bit. There are like 5 raw materials and like 5 or so different dishes which all sound simple enough. And they are... in the first two levels at least. But then each level gets progressively more impossible. And you're forced to co-operate to fulfill orders. It gets pretty intense at times and you'll be surprised at how overwhelming the sense of achievement is when you and your partner succeed. PC version is like R70 on steam I think. Not sure about the sequal. We play it on Xbox one. It came free last month with Xbox live gold.
  17. Haha! I knew I would flak for this. But hey. Its not like they're a proven alternative. We'll have to see if they last. And also, if they actually work well enough for the intended purpose. I'm sure they'll be fine on the park and street stuff. But whether they will hold up between the dirt and rocks remains to be seen. Guess I'll let ya'll know.
  18. Finding a budget alternative to 5tens is a topic that keeps resurfacing. On the jump bike and bmx flats are non negotiable for me. But on the trail I clip in... religiously. Something I've been intending to try and change for the longest time. But spending north of 2k on an experiment I'm not really sure of just never seemed worth the trouble. Now I've looked at MANY alternatives. But these seem to fit the bill nicely. Grippy soles. Tough uppers. Elasticated under the padded tongue to keep your foot in place with the added surety of good old fashioned laces. And some more padding around the ankles. They cost R1000 at Zando. But they had a 25% sale which ended at noon today. Then with the added help of some almost forgotten ebucks. I managed to snag this pair at a hair over R600 including shipping. Amped to try them out.
  19. Too pasty for me. I'm more of an Elektra kind of guy.
  20. It's exhausting! The writing and execution. Superb. I know its a bold statement. But to me. Vincent Donofrio is to Kingpin what Heath Ledger was to Joker. A big part of why the show is so good. I sometimes wonder how much of what is pulled off on screen should be credited to the directors vision and how much of it is just bloody good acting. You'll notice that he was never referred to as Kingpin. Not once. Opting instead to focus on the personality that is Wilson Fisk. A far more complicated character than Marvel could ever have intended for such a villain. Even Daredevil is more commonly referred to as The Devil of Hell's Kitchen. They make you empathize with Fisk just enough before reminding you what a brutal psychopath he actually is. At the same time. Mathew battles with his own demons. Abandoning his faith, his identity, his well being. Disputing whether the end justifies the means. Remember what The Punisher told him on the roof in the last season? Red, this thing you're doing. On the streets. It doesn't work. I do what needs to be done. Mathew was quick to blame it his actions on ptsd and emotional turmoil. But he's starting to wonder if murder can be justified after all.
  21. Circa 1980's Today Much of the superhero adaptations these days are aimed at audiences who enjoyed the original stuff as kids. Many having neo-noir themes, others gritty and some perhaps even borderline macabre. But somehow along the way. Some of them just end up being emo, arcade and juvenile. Reminds me of what Michael Bay did to TMNT. I guess I should watch it before I judge.
  22. Daredevil season 3 just hit Netflix. You'd think that the rest of the Netflix Marvel series would have the same pedigree. Don't get me wrong. They're all good shows. But Daredevil is just riveting. Watch season 3 asap.
  23. Guitar hangs next to my bike in garage. If I pick it up again. I'll probably have to start with eddy ate dynamite again.
  24. https://youtu.be/UWLOdFrYBqQ A recent stream of mine from Conan Exiles. At 2 minutes I tabbed out for 20 seconds to sort the reverb on my mic. Sorry about that. Its new content they added last week so seemed worth streaming. I intend posting some of my favourite screen shots and telling you all about this game. But I'll do that when I'm truly done with it for good. Which is sooner than later. Its a bold statement but Conan Exiles, really is (or was rather) the most incredible gaming experience I've ever had. Hands down. Credit to the developers for all the creative content. But that's not even why the game was so good. Its riddled with stupid bugs and there are so many things they could have done better. But what they've created was a platform for a pvp (player vs player) experience which is unlike any other. The first thing you need to know about this game is that everything is saved on the server which you play on. So you find a spot on the map and start building your base. When you quit the game your character remains in the world and goes to sleep. So when you're not online. You base can be raided (destroyed/looted) by other players and you can be killed in your sleep. So play centres around security and the lengths you would go to to keep yourself and your stuff safe. On the flip side. You also see how your adversaries are building. Expanding. And you pick up on everyones progression as you explore the map. Higher tier players will have better gaurded bases but also a higher chance of good loot. Most fights are just skirmishes which clans can recover from. Rebuild and continue playing. But then there's also outright war between clans where the building social tension between clans can become so intense that people have resorted to extreme lengths to wipe opposing clans from servers entirely and to make sure they don't come back. These wars can last weeks. And I've had my fair share. You have to understand. Players invest so much time to progress and achieve things which takes days, weeks and months, only to have it all taken away by opponents in a few hours with some clever plotting scheming, spying and planning. Betrayal between ally clans, expelling of clan members resulting in players out for personal revenge. The social aspect of the game is simply beautifully complicated. It got so intense that people would judge your character as a person based on your actions in a game. It goes much deeper than that but its all I'll say for now. Some real drama. The clip I posted though is just an old friend and I playing the new dungeon to unlock new stuff. A co-op adventure if you will. Enjoy.
  25. https://youtu.be/I3U02jpaDNk Steamed For Honour some time ago. Super fun game. Think of it as conquest mode in Battlefield where armies fight for territory only here its far more focused on hand to hand combat. The combat system is super cool. Takes a while to get use to as its quite intricate and you have to think on your toes when engaging enemy players. This round played here is a 4vs4 (PvP) game. The smaller clone type guys are all bots. They just fill up your armies when fighting for territory. The 4 players on each side are actual people though and they're easily distinguishable from the bot forces. Here I managed to pull off a finisher on an anemy Hero. I got lucky as I had help from a team mate who attacked the same guy from behind.
