  1. So... I joined the club. Not entirely sure how the incident happened. But my first instinct was that someone stepped on my heel. Probably one of my own team mates while playing netbal (yes you read that correctly). School had a mixed teams tournament. I was was stretched, warmed up.. but ya, it happened. Either a team mate or it went on itself. This was 26 April. Got op on 29th. Cast for just over two weeks and now in moon boot until I see the doc again on June 13th. Saw my physio yesterday and she said I should slowly start standing on the boot and try to do the walking motion to get some circulation going. I must say my body is busted from the compensation. Other leg hurts, hip flexor hurts, neck and shoulder spasms from the bad posture and crutches.. And Im now scared that it can happen again. I have never had serious injuries from sports but this terrifies me. I do have a disco bulge on that side. But it is something I manage and do stretches and physio. And I did every sport available to me during my high school and varsity days. This is very frustrating. Hoping I can drive and walk again in a few weeks
  2. My wife did it. I was there as well. I didnt see a lot of ebikes, though. The top 20 (out of 111) definitely didn't hold back and gave it their all! Lots of climbs, but otherwise not technical. But your gat needs to be used to long hours two days in a row
  3. Yes unfortunately I will not be able to test the Phenom saddle for months, but I have now heard this from a few people including my fitter. What I can confirm is the "gees" and help from Robert. You can take him up on his offer. He is a stand up guy!!
  4. No jokes that carrot cake is next level. After we tasted it last year we had them bake us a cake for my wife's birthday! I like grtp, but it is a bit misleading that there's a variety of trails as you need to pass through all of them to get to the next one. But it is proper fun and kids and novices can ride there as well!
  5. I agree. Get it setup correctly and add a dropper or spend money on contact points. I wouldnt upgrade parts on it. Rather save up and buy a spark 960/950/940 or a trek top fuel 8 or maybe a spez epic evo. You will probably not get your money back if you do suspension upgrades abd try selling the bike with them. I dont know the trails so I'm not sure if more suspension is needed. But I think 100-120mm is fine for what you want to do
  6. Ai, this sucks. I've had my 6s Pro now for almost a year, wearing it everyday. Farming with it, and mountain biking and training with it as well and mine is in way better condition than that. I try to look after my things, though. My screen has NO marks, they are pretty tough!
  7. I had Deore brakes (mt-500?) On my hardtail last year. Didn't have any problems. We do 90% xc so, but on the odd trail it was more the tires that were not gripping on the downhills than the brakes... My wife's bike has Sram Level TL. I have always hated them.. coming from shimano I have no idea when they will start to brake when I pull the lever. It's like nothing, nothing....BRAKE! So yes they work fine, but to me the feel can't even be compared to Shimano. My riding buddies has the same opinion. My wife doesnt mind as she is very light and she is used to them. All that being said my dual sus came out with Shimano slx 4-pot brakes. I love them so far, havent needed all the stopping power as Ive only done xc so far with them but they sure are very nice. If you are not that heavy or are more into xc, you can even go for the SLX 2-pot brakes. They will be light years better than Levels! I think think Cycle Lab/CWC had them on special recently if I'm not mistaken. I cannot comment on higher end Sram brakes, have never used them.
  8. I received excellent service in November with them doing a full kit in a very short time and they dropped off the bike at the shop even on a public holiday. This would be very sad news if their service goes down the drain
  9. Im changing cranks soon anyway as mine are too long as well.
  10. Tomik I've never heard of that saddle. Where did you buy it? How is it different from a phenom? Im positive that inner leg injury will now get enough rest haha
  11. Honestly that fitter made the changes and recommendations, I didnt hear anything about shorter or longer legs. But she listed that the power saddle could be the culprit as she personally experienced it as well. Idea was to get used to the new body positions the next 3 weeks at lower intensity.. which I did. But that specific injury persisted. Luckily I now have the time to recover from it. Reason I went for a pro fit is my previous bike shop fit caused an injury in the VMO area mostly because of cleat position and then overuse and I struggled with posture problems. New fit identified lots of those issues. Was just starting to get used to the new body position and now my season is over
  12. Quick update, I took Robert up on his offer, what a gent! So I will be testing the Specialized phenom saddle. Problem is, I tore my achilles on Tuesday night. Getting scan and most possibly surgery tomorrow. Racing season is over for this year. At least I will have a saddle to watch the races on!
  13. Jis Waldo. Best is to setup accommodation in Lamberts Bay and organize transport to Citrusdal early morning. 120km away. Or you can sleep in Citrusdal and organize transport back from Lamberts Bay to Citrusdal after the race. Last year there was a bus with a trailer transporting riders and bikes from Lamberts Bay early the morning Just remember that you need to register/check in a day or 2 before at Citrusdal personally to get your goodie bag
  14. Ok, I'm going to try and answer most of the suggestions..... Previous saddles (on older bikes) were a Silverback Saddle - long saddle, hated it. Scott Belcara Saddle, struggled almost a year until I played a lot with the angle and it got much better when just tilted close to 1 degree forward. The Power saddle is definitely better than both of those saddles for me. Leveling it is quite interesting as it curves.. I will try and change the angle thanks. I get pain on the inside of my right leg under my sitbone/top of hamstring/groin. I have been wondering if the Arc models could possibly help... I have never tried a Phenom Saddle. At the moment my training is split between indoor and outside on the road. But I do ride a mtb. So 4-5 hours per week. All depends on how much time I have the given ride. 3-4 times per week. This will pick up the upcoming weeks if I get the time. My Ciovita bibs are both Medium. I can't go smaller than that. So would possibly be a large in some of the Italian brands?? No camelbak and I got fitted for my bike. Back to the bibs.... No one with any of those Santini models? Ciovita Apex?
  15. Hi guys! So I'm doing my first 2-day event next month and another 100km one day event in the winter. I do about 100km per week and it doesn't feel as if I get "saddle fit". Using the Ciovita Corsa 2.0 and I also have a Ciovita Supremo. The latter is definitely better for longer distances but I still get "gat-lam" after 2 hours. It is a Specialized Power saddle with the correct width for me. So I'm thinking about the following: Assos Mille GT Ciovita Apex And then the whole lot of Santini Bib shorts that Cycle Lab/CWC sells: Cubo, Mago, Karma Delta, Gara I don't really get reviews of the Santini Bib Shorts, anyone that have some experience with the above mentioned Bib shorts? Thanks!
  16. Ah ok got you. If your focus is more multi-day events and less trails look for a Epic or Epic Evo from 2018-2020. My wife's got the alu one and it's never held her back. I've never tried a Camber but I believe it should fit the needs just fine and their prices seem like good value these days. Try and get a carbon one if you can. Nothing wrong with a stumpy, but I don't think it's best suited for stage races, IMO of course. Don't discount a Scott Spark for what you want to do. Trek Top Fuel could also work. Cannondale scalpel as well, I just can't get past the looks of the lefty, but the guys that have them, swear by them!
  17. I have a newer gen Epic Evo. I love it, but I dont think you will get the latest model within your budget. You can however look for a 2018-2020 model. It will suit your needs as well.... You say you already have a Scott Spark? If you still have it, why not do some upgrades on it? It is still a great bike
  18. Id you are looking at a mtb, Trek has a size M/L that would work
  19. I'd ask around. You may still be able to get a Specialized Epic Evo base for R60k or maybe a 2021 Top Fuel 9.7. Both carbon with potential to upgrade later on. Or get a Scott Spark from the last few years.
  20. R2M was held in both 2020 and 2021 in November. Provisional date for this year is end of July. If a "wave" comes along again, it will probably move to later in the year again.
  21. Peter, phone some dealers and ask for stock in your size. A few offers some discount as well if you ask. The Comp definitely offers better "value" if you can up your budget.
  22. On other forums a Medium Base model is around 12.7kg. Large should be bang on 13kg. To get it light is not difficult at all
  23. I can only vouch for Armour Ride. Dean collected my bike on a public holiday and had the job done and delivered in 2 days. Excellent service and great product! I have heard good things about Bike Shield, but I don't have the patience to do that job myself.
  24. Phone a few shops and look for a Scott Spark 940/950 2021 model. Cant take two water bottles but I think they are good deals for around your budget!
