  1. nope!! I'll use my R20 note instead (if needed)...of course I don't stick it on...but use it with a tube...
  2. I've just learned that you can use your Quick Release skewer as a tyre lever...thus you do not have to carry more than one with you...
  3. are you guys talking full tubeless? Or TR combo...I think the caveat lies in just that...I'd wager a little bit of ronds on a full tubeliss set-up...TR, i'm not so sure i'll wager anything... REMEMBER: GoPro footage or it did not happen!!
  4. This post got me thinking..so after work a took a peek in my saddle bag...yes, i do have one of those as well....I don't give crap about gay or not... I NEED all my stuff for just incase... so taking out the spare tubes.... this is what i saw to my horror... Moral of the story = check your kit...OFTEN...don't just assume everything is OK!! Imagaine my sense of humour if I had to replace my tube and found that out in the sticks...
  5. Where's that GoPro footage??/ I'd pay good dollars to actually see that!!
  6. don't use a rope..rather use a tie-down strap...much easier!!
  7. agree...i'm one of those thsat get so complacent about tubeless...I never check sealant levels untill they are basically all dried up...the other day i got a huge fright when i realised i've been riding on dry tyres for many months!!
  8. yes, the ones i initially got were crap!! did not know you get tyre levers and then TYRE leavers...hindsight is always a great teacher...
  9. Interesting....perhaps care to share the excat method? or is it a simple try at home type thing?? Will certainly try this at home first...
  10. I carry 3 levers...you obviously never had a tyre leaver snap on you trying to fit a tight tubeless set-up???
  11. you can never go wrong with a Camelbak...that's why there are there for...and forget about the the Hub style guru's ...you'll thank me when you don't get stuck on the trail!!
  12. tubeless is no mission at all!! Once you are familiar with it and how it works etc. the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages (if there are any) when tyre has come off on trail...cuss and forget about trying to put back on without lots of stress and more cussing!! (besides potetially using up ALL of the groups bombs!!) That is why you carry an extra tube with you...cut your losses and fit tube right away...it's a 4:40min job... PS: in my many years of riding - only happened once when i was too dflated and pretending that i'm a weigh weenie in the corners...learned my lesson after that...
  13. well, rest assured...seems myself and quite a few other 'ubers never saw the slanderous post(s) ...so no real harm done in that!! It's only Hubland afterall...
  14. Yes, i agree 100% on-line was supposed to be more trouble than handling cash etc. I saw last nite on Dirtopia website thathte on-line entry fee for 24hrs OAk Valley also has additional charges for on-line entries...==> not cool..rather "hide" the fee and make me feel less shafted!! thank you.
  15. Shocking in so many ways!! Last night I participated in moonlight mass ride in Somerset west...on my way home - we were passed by lady in blue golf flying straight over a stop street...not even touching her brake lights...It was as if the stop street was not even there... Be careful out there...the roads are full of idjuts!!
  16. Hannes, bring bietjie een in werk toe...ek is seker ek sal met hom huis toe gaan!! (ek is op soek na helmet mounted, tweede lig...die een lyk reg vir my) PS: ek in Grahmstad to Maandag toe - Dinsdag weer op kantoor...
  17. I guess "waterproof" grease will not form an emulsion when mixed with water...? and others might?
  18. Any grease will do...marine perhaps a wee bit better...when you ride in the sea...
  19. I HAVE TO AGREE HERE... Here's a true story (first hand). My mae had to sit in police cells for 2hrs in Dec...because he "assaulted" a thief. The **** crawled into his wife's bussiness on his stomach...past reception...to steal from handbag...wife saw him and jumped on him (she's really strong / aggro - i will not mess with her  ) struggle ensue...would be thief get loose and runs down staris onto pavement...right into hubby who was on his way to collect wife...he persues till street intersection...and tackes guys down and rough him up a bit (i.e. citizens arrest). cope were called and thief lays charge against him...now, this is where I loose the plot...BECAUSE a charge doccet has been opened against Frank (my mate) ..the cops wqere unable to release him wadda wadda..etc. Not even his attourney could prevent him fro sitting in general cells for twqo hours...until they persuaded the thief to drop charges... Moral of that story was....do you citizens arrest - do te roughing up...but do not call cops ...just release the guys...he will not go to cop station to lay charges...he simply did it (on the spot) beacuse cops were there to arest him! bloody hell...
  20. Man i just love these pictures & narration... definately on my bucket list!! this shop keeper must just love MTB'ers comming through!! looks like you guys cleaned him out!!
  21. Geez, global climate change now also affecting bicycle parts & performance...
  22. yip, same with me...i think the rebound are different when bombing downhill...compaed to just riding a trail... all subtle... but still functional!
  23. IF he gets another bike ...his wife WILL kick him out...catch 22 situation!! :whistling:
  24. Dang!!....I have to suppress the bile taste of jealousy!! Have an awesome ride...hope the weather play along (it'sa the ONE parameter that you cannot control...)
  25. I'd suggest a Tygerberg hill ride...need a day permit though.. rather go the little distance and do Jonkershoek!! Will be much more worthwhile experience...
