  1. I hope you heal up quickly for tomorrow. How did it happen?
  2. Much appreciated. you make a good point about how low the cost really is given the price of the equipment and how long a good bleed can potentially last.
  3. That's what I would have said too. What do you make of the alternative oils that people have suggested in the thread? Any good or is it a case of getting what you pay for with these mineral brakes?
  4. I'd be very interested in these if you're running them at the beginning of next year. It would be a great way for me to get back on the bike with the incentive of leaning a few new good habits. Are you considering other venues as The Spruit can sometimes be a bit difficult to get to.
  5. Beautiful looking bike. I always feel a bit of patriotic pride when I see the design and engineering quality produced by people like Patrick Morewood.
  6. Hmmm, shall I buy a bicycle or a high performance MX bike? I think I'll buy the MX bike, cheaper to maintain.
  7. Between the fat bikes and the craft beer the show was just a vinyl record player away from going full hipster. But I did enjoy it. A few new brands I've never been aware of so it was good to venture outside of the shelves of my LBS. That Pyga on the best bike display was quite something to behold.
  8. It will be a great dirt roadie profiling device #fridayfightclub
  9. Moral of the story: a roll of duct tape and a pack of cable ties and you can survive any trail hazard.
  10. "The placebo trial involved a non-compressive garment, which had similar material properties to the compression garment. In order to assist in ‘blinding’ the cyclists to which of the treatments they were receiving, the researchers informed the cyclists that the purpose of the study was to compare the effect of two types of compression garments. This way, the cyclists always thought they were receiving a compression garment."
  11. Even my doctor says the great thing about placebos is that they work so if it works for you then do it. I have my favourite riding shirt that makes me feel faster. I don't care that there's no scientific basis to it, when I put it on I'm quick!
  12. Only if you're using the correct hologram size to match the frequency resonance of your body's ions. The difference between this and Powerbalance is that there is evidence to show they aid recovery when worn after a workout. I'd much rather wear a compression sock after an anaerobic session than have an ice bath.
  13. I personally think a hard tail is the best bike to learn how to do small jumps on as there are no surprises from overzealous rebound settings and so on. JCMeyers video is a great advert for those forks (and his balls)!
  14. Nice article. From my brief read through it looks like it confirms what other studies have said: good for recovery (similar benefits to ice bath) but doesn't increase performance when worn during exercise?
  15. I guess it's a line they have to draw in the sand. There would be too many loopholes and grey areas if they said some people are permitted to have certain substances but others not. It's unfortunate for those taking part just for fun but I understand why they have to take a hard stance.
  16. Techniblock but don't spray it on your forehead otherwise it runs in your eyes when you start sweating and temporarily blinds you.
  17. Thanks, I'd also like to get rough prices for a Fox 32 and an RP2
  18. Is that to care for the old ballies? What do they say, something like if you can't go fast you have to go far
  19. 140mm - 150mm travel bike and I'd call the victory for an XCO or Enduro rider. It does sound like a fun idea. You should organise it. I guess the All Mountain Bike Trophy would be pretty good. From what I've heard you could hold the entire thing on the Spruit :0
  20. Hey, what's wrong with Ride magazine?! The few times I've ridden the Spruit I really have appreciated the areas where work has clearly been put in, whoever has undertaken this thankless task deserves plenty of beers. I did have a few scary moments in some of the deep ruts along one section but on the whole it was a decent piece of trail considering where it is but maybe need someone to show me all the exciting bits that are being discussed here.
  21. Ai, so much tension on that patch of trail. I'm not sure which gang I would fit in with on the spruit, I guess I'd better steer clear.
