  1. That's no ***!!! Used to inject that satan juice into blisters when we were in the Air Force! Still brings a few drops of pee into my jocks, just thinking about it
  2. It was about 15km in, in the Montgomery Park section, in the piece of veld that runs close to John Adamson Drive. Chasing my mates where the path makes a fork, my brain went one way and my steed the other way. Splat and crash! I had to ride another 2 kms before my wife could come and fetch me, and that hurt like f@#K. Sh#t happens, and to not ride again because of my fault would be ridiculous. After all, you are completely in control of your bike. If it's too slippery, get off and push FFS. Check you okes there, we're going to have a jol
  3. I broke my hip doing the 22 last year, and no, not on the algae☺ Been a long recovery, so will do the 22 again. A nice day out with the wife on the bike!
  4. Not rolling resistance, "self-feeding grip"????
  5. Marking and marshalling near end of 15km was non-existent, but otherwise a lekker day out on the bike with the Mrs Fatbike was a good choice for the day, tons of fun railing it on the loamy, grippy track
  6. Nope, SunRingle tape, and a Halo rim tape. Lots of swearing, and help from some friends☺
  7. I keep looking, something will pop up soon. CRC might suck some of my cash soon, the 105 cassette and chain rings are about 60% worn out now, so timing is getting better by the ride
  8. F#$k me, you're right! And that was the toughest tubeless conversion ever!!!! Back to swearing and fighting
  9. A set of Campagnolo Khamsin Assymetrics for my trusty old Fondriest. Really nice quiet wheelset that just seems to roll forever (even though they're the real cheap Campagnolo wheels)
  10. Put my FatBike on diet with these beautiful wheels, along with 180mm IceTec rortor upgrades. Quick 3kg lost this morning
  11. You need to be able to transport beer while on a ride!
  12. Dik oke, on a dikwiel, having a dik jol on the trails around Clarens Nature Reserve over last weekend.
  13. That would most definitely have been on Barry's to do list........
  14. From meeting Barry for the first time just after his divorce, we have chucked back many many many gallons of beer, shared heartaches, laughed ourselves into stupors and generally just got along like mates should. Through all his dark days, he never lost the spirit and will to be a humble, compassionate and lekker oke! His local pub for many years was Grapes in Benoni, and I'm going to go and chuck back a few this afternoon, to toast his eternal relief from pain and suffering, and to savour a few fond memories of the good oke, hooligan, accident magnet and friend that was Barry. RIP Sir, and condolences to your family and furkids
  15. Same with me in that I also had a test ride at Modders. Whilst it may be too much for the relatively flat Modders trails, I loved every minute on it, and coming from my KTM 29" FS, I felt so much more "in the groove", especially on the slightly off camber slightly downhill parts where my confidence was much higher, based on the feel I had with this mamba of a bike. Being a fat bastard, I kakked on the uphills with the 1x gearing on the test bike, but that's no reflection on the machine. Sometime soon, very very soon.......
  16. And I though I got a real good Black Friday deal
  17. Who's going to do my next setup if he's off pedalling as a pro around the world? Well done
  18. My Brooks saddle only has about 200km on it, and I don't see it wearing out any time soon. It's so comfortable it's scary, and it still has a long way to go before it's worn in Took about 1.5 turns on the tensioner to get the middle of the seat nice and firm after the maiden voyage, and now I wait until the next adjustment :)
  19. Exactly, the Surly's chain was so badly rusted, it's a miracle it hadn't snapped yet!
  20. Having just come back from an awesome 2 week holiday in Mozambique, I was shocked at the amount of exotic bikes I saw there, ranging from a Surly FatBike in Barra, to a Specialized Epic in Jangamo. These bikes may be legitimately owned, but looking at the guys riding them, I doubt it: the Surly even had pieces of wood strapped to the SPD pedals so the guy riding it barefoot would be more comfortable It really is time for an effective deterrent to bike theft and trans-border "relocation" to be put in place, and enforced effectively.
  21. Bought a pair at the 94.7 expo, and tested them this weekend taking my 29'r FS and FatBike on my Buzzrack 2-bike platform. Worked an absolute treat, even though I battled to get them back on after numerous post-ride refreshments! Really nice product
  22. Asphalt, compacted with high frequency vibratory machines supplied by ourselves, to ensure smooth and consistently well compacted asphalt. Even the lips of the jumps get compacted, so I'm sure the track is going to stay in awesome condition for a long time to come. Once they're finished, I'll drag my fat ass around there and give some feedback from the buffalo side of the fence
  23. I've been using these shoes for just over 2 years now, with the moldable insoles fitted. I was skeptical about the BOA system, but it has only given me trouble once, after a big off into a puddle of sludge at Red Barn. The dial became loose, and wouldn't ratchet, but after rinsing it out with my water bottle, everything was back to normal Really good shoe for wide feet at a very good price!
  24. Haha and the marks in my jocks sometimes too
  25. My Brooks Flyer Special, complete with under-seat springs , arrived via DHL. Can't wait to fit it on my FatBike :)
