Before you go down the fb marketplace route. Try Bicycle Empowerment Network. They have set up for just this purpose.. getting commuters on bikes that work. Not making a profit, not selling something that doesn't work anymore, but usable bikes. You will still have money left over for helmet and lights

Sounds like you are learning new skills like jumping and a hardtail is great for that.

Have you tried a high roller or high roller 2? If so what are your thoughts on the ardents compared to HR's?

I used to take my bikes to my LBS, they did such a good job getting them really clean, especially the drivetrain. I soon realized that my bearing lifespan had fallen off a cliff. They don't have the time to carefully clean a bike, they need to turn them over really fast, which most likely involves using a high pressure washer and some serious degreaser.
