  1. You'll still get dodgy looks from the dog walkers when you're riding on the correct trails
  2. Good to hear. Honestly I was a bit skeptical about them lasting! Machined some a while back after 3d printing the prototype. Wanted them for messing around on the bike with my kids. The one issue I had was the pedal rotating towards the ground when I took my foot off, as the side with the platform is heavier. I'll try find a pic, or take one later when I'm home.
  3. How did these hold up?

    Same mechanic?
  5. When buying a bike, go with your heart every time. Every time. But get the Trek or maybe epic evo 😉
  6. If you're doing long non technical rides on gravel roads, clipless (where you're connected to the pedal) might be better, but for learning how to control a mountain bike with proper technique flats are probably better. The decision should be on what your riding will be. Google clipless vs flats for more info
  7. Hang on so this is a scam right? scam /ˈskæm/ verb: to get (something, such as money) by deceiving someone So why is it that on the scammers thread its open season on posting phone numbers but here it gets removed? @LazyTrailRideradd the guy to the scammer list
  8. On your current bike, smash it up a hill with 2 full water bottles, roll back down ditch the bottles and do it again. Is there really a difference? Personally I don't think so. The biggest difference is on paper. As previously mentioned geometry trumps weight. Actually do the bottle test up a technical climb.
  9. I think this may have come up in the 3d printing thread. There are quite a few 3d printing ideas for holding an airtag https://www.yeggi.com/q/airtag+bicycle/ This is quite a neat one inside fork crown:
  10. Sounds pretty straightforward. Did they replace the rim or repair the rim?
  11. Looking forward to hearing how it goes. Forgot to mention, the reason it is white is because that is what was in the printer! Looks good though.
  12. What did you have to do to claim for a cracked rim, how did they assess?
  13. That's a whole different story to printing a file you can download from thingverse!
  14. yes sure, hit me up with a dm, I'm in Tokai. no beer required!
  15. Looking for some advice on how to approach dealing with a damaged pair of Assos RS bibshorts. Had a front tyre wash out followed by a little lie down. The bibshorts now have a nice R5 coin size hole on the one side, but are otherwise perfect. Options? I see Assos has a crash replacement / repair option on their website, anyone in SA tried this? Is there a seamstress in Cape Town, preferably southern suburbs that I should go to? Or any other ideas?
  16. Wow! That's really impressive. Well done Colorado
  17. That sounds like a good combo. Have you tried a forekaster up front? I'm a big fan of the forekaster, rolls fast with decent grip, but would like to hear your thoughts on how it compares to a 2.4 rekon up front. I also run the rekon race on the rear.
  18. I've received quick links with all my 12 speed chains. Maybe a recent thing? first one I bought probably early 2021.
  19. I've been thinking come on, it doesn't really matter, its going to go on your bike, no packaging, whatever, move on. BUT if that little packet was opened it probably means it was installed and according to shimano the quick link is not reusable. I'd want another chain from them. and yes I know most of us reuse the quick links, Shimano says we shouldn't.
  20. @tinmugwas the quick link in its little sealed bag?
  21. I'm pretty sure you can use any of the shimano levers with the shimano calipers. The wiser guys on here can confirm. @DieselnDust ? https://www.olympiccycles.co.za/product/shimano-brake-lever-hydraulic-deore-6100-rightshimano-label/
  22. I read that the 7100 (SLX), 8100 (XT) and 9100 (XTR) covers are interchangeable. However if using the 7100 cover you will lose the 8100 double shift. That said if you want a 7100 cover with bar clamp I will happily swap mine with you as I'd rather have the neater ispec ev. Feel free to DM me.
  23. Also saw a few foamies on Sunday, I thought it was from an over application of chamois cream building up over the life of the bibs?
  24. You could also just go Deore, basically the same as SLX, 10 grams or something difference. Chris Willemse have stock R1000 video comparison:
