  1. which one has the higher number of sales?
  2. Fox 34 or Pike I found the sid ultimate (with 35mm stanchions) less rigid than a Fox 34. Whether it was in my mind or not, I'm not sure, but it definitely felt that way. Maybe Fox 34 SC vs Sid Ultimate?
  3. Agree with this, but there are other factors. Technique (weight the front of the bike and leaning the bike over) and type of tyre (DHR should grip more than a recon race). Probably others I can't think of right now. I've also found going too low on pressure can result in the tyre rolling over and not getting the right support from the carcass and the knobs not being in the right place when the tyre deforms. I run my front pressure between 19 and 20 psi.
  4. Personally I'd swap these around. The forekaster should give you more grip on the front than the recon race. I've used this set up for xc riding.
  5. If you have a buddy with a 3d printer... https://www.yeggi.com/q/brake+pad+spacer/ https://www.yeggi.com/q/shimano+bleed+block/ and if you are in Cape Town DM me
  6. Check out the Early Rider bikes. Their 16 inch bike is listed at 6kg. I reckon suspension forks should come a bit later, learning to pump the bike and get a feel for creating grip is better with a rigid set up. Also most of the "suspension" forks on the kids bikes are super heavy and are just a spring with no damper. We went with the Merida Matts + for my sons 20 inch. Ticked all the boxes... hydraulic brakes, clicking shifters and not the terrible grip shift that is specc'd on kids bikes, lightish weight at about 9.5kg. Its a very cool bike, he loves it.
  7. Why did AH have a yellow number board?
  8. Found it, thanks For anyone else interested: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1033625694237891
  9. Looking forward to checking this out. Thank you for the initiative! Does anyone have some pics of the work done?
  10. You'll still get dodgy looks from the dog walkers when you're riding on the correct trails
  11. Good to hear. Honestly I was a bit skeptical about them lasting! Machined some a while back after 3d printing the prototype. Wanted them for messing around on the bike with my kids. The one issue I had was the pedal rotating towards the ground when I took my foot off, as the side with the platform is heavier. I'll try find a pic, or take one later when I'm home.
  12. How did these hold up?

    Same mechanic?
  14. When buying a bike, go with your heart every time. Every time. But get the Trek or maybe epic evo 😉
  15. If you're doing long non technical rides on gravel roads, clipless (where you're connected to the pedal) might be better, but for learning how to control a mountain bike with proper technique flats are probably better. The decision should be on what your riding will be. Google clipless vs flats for more info
  16. Hang on so this is a scam right? scam /ˈskæm/ verb: to get (something, such as money) by deceiving someone So why is it that on the scammers thread its open season on posting phone numbers but here it gets removed? @LazyTrailRideradd the guy to the scammer list
  17. On your current bike, smash it up a hill with 2 full water bottles, roll back down ditch the bottles and do it again. Is there really a difference? Personally I don't think so. The biggest difference is on paper. As previously mentioned geometry trumps weight. Actually do the bottle test up a technical climb.
  18. I think this may have come up in the 3d printing thread. There are quite a few 3d printing ideas for holding an airtag https://www.yeggi.com/q/airtag+bicycle/ This is quite a neat one inside fork crown:
  19. Sounds pretty straightforward. Did they replace the rim or repair the rim?
  20. Looking forward to hearing how it goes. Forgot to mention, the reason it is white is because that is what was in the printer! Looks good though.
  21. What did you have to do to claim for a cracked rim, how did they assess?
  22. That's a whole different story to printing a file you can download from thingverse!
  23. yes sure, hit me up with a dm, I'm in Tokai. no beer required!
