  1. You either have the money for the 400k bike or you have the bike, you can’t have both.
  2. What about cheaper items but still expensive if that makes sense….that high end Garmin Fenix 8 pro, the edge 1050, that Woolworths peanut butter. it’s the same thing. Innit? I make no bones about the fact I like some high end products, a lush double/triple ply, a nice shaving cream etc.
  3. You hold mankind in higher regard than do I. Consumerism been there since the first Apple , just not been called that. The term is just a modern day word for it. But the ego motive been there through most wars etc..
  4. Good luck dude. This is a rondfok
  5. It’s this exact mindset that creates great civilisations the motivation and desire for something better than you currently have. although, consumerism is a dirty side of it.
  6. Funny enough I was just eyeing out a ti gravel bike and doing mental calculations as to how much it would actually cost me. 😂 yip, it’s a huge factor.
  7. South Africa qualify for 2026
  8. Yeah, my mate Neil took the pic. He is/was a Wilddog too.
  9. The bicycle industry is a fascinating one, depreciate faster than the Hindenburg and what with manufacturers continuously updating models obsolescence occurs in the blink of an eye. I look at the second hand market here and it’s depressing. Bikes that were top of the range DI loaded 7 years ago are now selling for less than 20 percent of sticker price with photos that clearly indicate low amount of usage. And, they generally not selling anyway. yet the cycling shops are still open meaning folks are pulling the trigger on new.

  13. Exactly that. And I get it with the older folks like myself but even the youngsters give it a full go for the Afrikaans lyrics. Really enjoyed the day, it was superb and lovely wife came out too, met up with loads of mates and just had a champagne day. ( but drank beer).
  14. Neil was an adventure rider. so it works. Thanks meneer
  15. Seeing as Suunto is now Chinese owned I guess they would know all about patent infringements. we wait, and we watch. ( yes yes intentionally)
  16. Sounds like a Churchill kind of response. Brilliant.
  17. I am not a patriotic Saffa by any means. Moved to ZA when 11 years old in ‘76 and did not have a huge grasp of Afrikaans for a number of years. Afrikaans is essentially my 4th language , but I digress. I enjoy rugby, generally support England as that is where I live but I go to twickenham now and again and went on Saturday to watch the boks play Argentina. Man oh man, what a vibe and what a Lekker joyous crowd before the game. Sad to see so many ex saffas here but is what it is. Did get a little lump in throat when the Die stem part of anthem started and ppl were in full voice, absolutely stunning moment. Realised I had never really looked into the lyrics of Die Stem. spent some time on it yesterday, what incredibly awesome lyrics it actually is. Pity it’s relegated to the scrap heap of history for the most part.
  18. Well now…. Thankfully for you lot I did not go down that road.
  19. Shizer. Wrong thread. Jammer
  20. Listen up Rush fans.
  21. Slot in the space of 8 days has lost 3 in a row.
  22. Comments are certainly entertaining. I agree with them. when I first got onto Strava it was cool to check segments and mates times etc. over the years actual segments and times have become less meaningful. I love Garmin, if Strava break the connection well then that’s it. That said, hopefully does not come to that. used to subscribe too but no longer so. Just don’t need all the info anymore.
  23. The saga continues, good luck dude.
  24. Precioussssssss
