  1. Also bought the Feva star seat. Nice thing is it can quickly be swapped between or taken off the bike. My boy is 15 months and just loves it. He goes and fetch his helmet and brings it to me when he wants to go for a ride. I had to start hiding his helmet during the week.
  2. Thanks. I looked at the Gates Carbon belt . . . but man . . I'll be damned it I cut a joint in the rear triangle, or let anybody do it . .. I am just not liberal (aka "skytbang" ) enough to do that.
  3. So 3" tire in the front and normal at rear? I also like that idea. But Came across this in my "krampus research." They did basically that in pic #4 with the BERGAMONT Revox http://twentynineinches.com/2012/10/29/surly-krampus-final-review/ They did not like it to much . . . but that is just them and it was a light carbon hardtail. You might have a totally different setup. Just thought I'll share the info. I hope it helps.
  4. As seen in this thread, I just built my 1ste SS. Spent nights pondering Suspension fork or rigid. Went rigid as it is what I sort of wanted and I already have a 130mm FS. With the Niner fork and the carbon bar I must say the ride is much smoother than I anticipated. Make no mistake it is still a rigid fork and riding style have to adjusted. I'd say: If you do have another suspension bike is the stable, go rigid. If it is your only mountain bike, get a nice high end XC fork with lockout. What about . . . . . a Lauf Fork . . .
  5. SS? What is your gearing?
  6. First ride this weekend and first SS ride for me since my BMX at school. Did a 50km gravel travel up our local pass. Ride is much better than I expected, especially coming down, I though i was going to be all over the place. I like this rigid SS thing!
  7. I can tell you, but then I'll have to . .. . . . . Budget was doing very OK, waited for specials to by stuff. Like that Easton Carbon bar was on 58% discount!! Things went pear shaped at the Wide Lightning wheels and the NINER fork.
  8. Thanks for the kind words. Now I will just have to get my lame, full suspension, geared ass to HTFU.
  9. Thanks for all the advice and help from all you Hubbers. It was much appreciated.
  10. Done in time for the long weekend. Was suppose to be a budget build, but me and the wife's idea of budget was a bit different. The allure of some Easton and Niner carbon and Thomson bits was just to much. Then I also got bliksemed by the Wide Lightning talk and had to have some. The Mariachi. On the Couch . . . .(wife was sleeping already) (10.2kg)
  11. Guys running Niner forks. How did you go about the front brake line routing? If I look at pics of the fork on the bikes on the Niner site, it seems if they bring it up the back of the left fork leg ( in the clips provided) and then pass through the fork legs to the front and then up to the brake lever. Is this what most do or is there a better alternative? Thanks.
  12. Showing friends some new single track
  13. XT is good. But I also had standard XT, went to XT trail en the second bike. (XT trail pedals for Trail bike was the reasoning.) Did not perceive any advantage of the XT Trail over the standard XT. Got standard XT again for the 3rd bike.
  14. All the Wide Lighting talk . Could not take it anymore. I cracked under pressure. . .. .
  15. Aaaah . . . . Some Niner Stuff
  16. Ooooh! Some Easton Carbon.
  17. Wyatt. Why so?
  18. @ RocknRolla Thanks!! That is some insight! There was a long time ago . . . . before suspension when I did do everything Stellenbosch, Jonkerhoek and Potch had on a rigid 26er. But then I got slapgat with FS. Seems the main thing is to take it slowly and to get use the rigid again.
  19. I don't like asking opinions on every little thing. But having choices is sometimes a bitch. So here goes. Regarding my SS build, Suspension fork or rigid carbon fork? I am afraid that in my enthusiasm of bike building I have forgotten how "shaky" a rigid fork is and that my romanticism of the whole build is getting the better of me. Some considerations: For Suspension. I do ride some rocky single track en jeep track. For Rigid. I intend on fitting nice 2.35-2.4 volume tires I do have a carbon handle bar going on the build My other bike have 130mm FS already. A Niner fork is just looks "Da Bomb" I like it!! Guys riding rigid forks, is it just your play bike or do you ride everything from single track or dirt road gravel grinding with it? What limitations do I have to except and live with. Shoot with your opinions please.
  20. Yip. One pay Import VAT.
  21. I have also asked this, as well if a new BB is needed for the axle. Seems if that info is not available . . . .
  22. I saw the advert first before the thread. Read my comment there. I hope nobody likes your post. Try and make a plan not to sell it. That bike must like family.
  23. Form CRC today. All in original packaging.
  24. Lots and lots of Black with a little gold in the bar & stem
