  1. I love this Got your finished build last week and already a new one in the pipeline . . . Silver Bar would be cool but I already have a nice carbon Easton riser bar. Silver brake levers & calipers . . . I looked for them. The options are limited and very expensive. Like XTR, top end SRAM or Hope. No SLX brakes in silver for my budged.
  2. Opinion please. Normally I tend to go for black stem, crank, seat-post et al. On an unpainted Aluminium frame. (In other words silver) Would the following look? silver crank, silver stem, silver spacers at the headset. silver chain-rings Giving a all-metal "silver surfer" look. Sort of like an all titanium look . . . but more silver/aluminium shade. Would this be to much? End up looking a "Gold Member wannabe" Post example pics if you can find any. PS. The fork, handlebar, brakes, wheel set, saddle is black. I have these already.
  3. Mine got his strider/walker bike on his 2nd B-day. They learn quick-quick. Go and get it.
  4. Ja, it is nice and all, if it came with your bike . .cool. If you want to buy a dropper afterwards. I think the money can be spend on other options, you'll be just as happy, and you might even have some change left in you pocket.
  5. Another consideration: The XT M8000 single chain ring, was obviously designed around 1x11 speed groupsets and 11 speed chains. I assume 11-speed chain to be a bit narrower than 9-or-10 speed chains. Will the this chain ring work with the 9-speed chains so the Rapide SS chain I use for my Single Speed build? Will be a bit bummed to have to use only expensive 11-speed chains and cut them up for a SS? And the 11 speed chain might not "mesh" to good with say a Rapide SS sprocket at the back? End up more expensive in the long run. Spending money on 11-speed chains. (sorry I suffer from mild analysis paralysis)
  6. Thanks for help. Appreciated. I know about the BCD being smaller. Thing is, I need to get another crank for my new build. I do not have a spare. Looking around CRC I saw that: New XT M8000 crank + XT M8000 30T chain ring (nearly)= a new XT M785 double crank in price. Then I still need to take of the XT M785's chian rings and buy and fit a 1 X ring from after market as you mentioned. So to get the "older tech" XT + chainring is more expensive than the new XT + chain ring (this is in 1X chain ring format) So it makes sort of sense to get the new XT at a lower price? Performance wise I doubt I'll notice any difference, but I am a bit of a sucker for new kit. Only little issue is, both my other bikes use the XT M785 as I like to have part interchangeability on my rigs. If one rig's part go/fail, I can cannibalize of the other till I get a new part. Now I want to go and mess with that for a new look. .
  7. Help me out. Please I see I get a XT M8000 single crank-set with 30T chain ring for the same price as the previous XT M785 double. Then with double, I still have to buy a additional single speed narrow/wide chain ring. So I can get the new stuff for the SS cheaper then older stuff. Question: Would the XT M8000 fit the older threaded XT/SLX BB ? Both BB's are threaded. Both BB's have 68mm/73mm shell Thing is the crank spindle? Is the new XT M8000 also 24mm "thick" like all other Shimano cranks spindles/axles ? Is so, then I can not see why it would not fit. Am I missing something? Why do I not use the new XT M800 BB you may ask? The damn thing requires a new Shimano tool (same as the XTR BB) to fit. I do not have that tool and have not seem one to buy.
  8. I had it other-way round Woodchipper more flare. Cowchipper in the middle. (less flare) Cowbell least flare. http://salsacycles.com/components/category/road_handlebars http://forums.mtbr.com/components/review-salsa-woodchipper-salsa-cowchipper-soma-gator-994507.html Perhaps our interpretations differ?
  9. Fixed it for you. Salsa CowChippers is impossible to find. Been looking weekly on bike24.de and jensonusa for months now. http://www.jensonusa.com/Salsa-Cowchipper-Drop-Bar#brm-search?request_type=search&search_type=keyword&q=cowchipper&l=cowchipper https://www.bike24.de/1.php?menu=1000%2C4%2C133%2C31;search=salsa+cowch;content=8;product=157749 NOTHING. Nothing in SA as far I know . . . not new at least. Wood-Chippers and Cow-Bell models you'll find . . . But the elusive CowChipper . . . . no luck.
  10. Guys give your opinion. Have my Salsa with Niner RDO in single speed. But also building up another steel frame that can do single speed. So the Salsa will get gears and do duty as a gravel grinder. So Do I give the new SS rig a suspension fork. OR Do I buy a nice "more complaint steel fork", fit that on the Salsa and move the "more rigid" Niner RDO to the new rig. (I know . .1st world problems )
  11. Still one of my favourite SS on the hub that KM of yours. How do you find the steel fork on the arms? Long rides?
  12. Other options from bike24.de https://www.bike24.de/1.php?content=8;product=29591;menu=1000,2,208 https://www.bike24.de/1.php?content=8;product=112299;menu=1000,2,208 But would 1st like to see if I can get a fork in SA
  13. Ooooohhhh. Will have to go and measure the frames head-tube length.
  14. I did . . . . and waiting. . . .
  15. I am starting to get things together for a new SS MTB. The fork is always my biggest "what will I fit?! " dilemma. Causing sleepless nights, hours on the Internet and neglect of children. Suspension or Rigid? What suspension or what rigid? Nice suspension or Niner Rigid cost more than the bike!! Anyway: Can anyone point me as to where in the wonderful S-of-A do one look for a 29er rigid steel fork?
  16. That old thing . . Does not have wheels or nothing . . . just let me have it . . . VERY NICE!!
  17. I suspect many Hubbers wish they owned one of those.
  18. With these . . . my n=2 (click for a bigger pic to lust at the details ) http://www.victoire-cycles.com/sites/default/files/styles/slide_accueil/public/victoire-bellevue-gino-9306.jpg?itok=nuyXxdIs http://www.victoire-cycles.com/sites/default/files/styles/slide_accueil/public/victoire-mtb-formula-9258.jpg?itok=5pVA_mHc
  19. Man! That looks very good. I am green with envy. +1 on who did the chrome work?
  20. Great bike, Great Buy. (I nearly bought it, the itch was huge, but then I already have a SS.)
  21. Used these Spot units in quad bike and cycling events in Canada Cellphone can not compare. Unlike SA, cellphone reception for most part only in towns and some big highways in BC. I was amazed how quickly you lose cell signal. As soon as you're out in the "sticks" your cellphone is useless.
  22. Ag no Man!! What is this "size 54" !? I need a 56. This will be awesome. Wish it was my size. Good luck with the sale.
  23. Spes and silly money is like Zuma and corruption . . . . . inseparable
