  1. I'll not even take my bike out. Will immediately go and drown the urge to cycle in pints beer.
  2. I was looking at it . . . . But with the Rand going tits-up these dropouts had the possibility of two flies with one swat.
  3. Thru Axle fitted to Mr. Mariachi last night.
  4. Just need to get the LBS to swap the QR -hub for the thru axle hub on the Wide Lighting then the new Drop-outs will go on in this space . . .
  5. Santa brought me this all the way form Canada!! Thu Axle dropouts for Mr. E. Mariachi.
  6. Fork!! This is "trouser incident stuff"!!
  7. Interesting thread/question. Drew, from Stoke suspension will shed light on this topic.
  8. Sorry. I was so exited by the build. Saw in later pics it was not . . . .
  9. Niner fork lurking there? A blue on black paint scheme can look good.
  10. What would one of those babies set you back?
  11. WOW!!!!! Super COOL!! This is exactly what I want to do with my El Mariachi!! That is why I asked about the Salsa Woodchipper bar and the Lucy earlier. I just need to get the brakes hydraulics somehow, because I love my 180mm XT stoppers to much.
  12. Thanks. Quiestion 1. I would like to buy Shimano RS685 Road Disc and then somehow mate them with my XT callipers and have a bike with hydraulic road brakes leavers but my nice XT 180mm callipers and rotor. With would be wicked. Perhaps I could then get that Shimano RS685 to shift a nice 11 speed rear derailleur, fit a 11-42 cluster and run a single big chainring like 38T or 42T in front. This will give me a lowest ratio of about 42:42 or 38:42 which is much lower than my current SS but I will have a nice fast gears for the flats. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/shimano-rs685-road-disc-brake/rp-prod119977
  13. Regarding my earlier question about the handlebar and turning my SS into the Cyclo/Monster Cross rig. I would like to able to to convert it while keeping most of parts that is on it. Something like slapping on some drop bars and Shimano road cockpit and off I go. But have the follow questions regarding the current Shimano Road Hydraulic leaver/shifter assemblies. 1. Is the brake hose, gland, retaining/lock screw assemble the same as in the current Shimano XT spec. In other words, will I be able to disconnect my XT brake levers and connect the hoses to Shimano Road Hydraulic brakes, bleed, and Bob's your uncle. 2. Will a Shimano 10- or 11-speed hydraulic road brake/shifter shift a 10- or 11-speed XT rear derailleur properly? In other words, Shimano hydraulic road brake-leavers/Shifters with XT brakes and drive train in 1 X 10 or 11?
  14. Thanks for the offer. I'll ponder it. The Ragley looks the business!! No stock at CRC . . . .
  15. I am thinking of "monster Cyclo -Cross-ing" my rigid SS. Who in SA stocks this shape of handlebar. (it is not have to be this uber expensive Salsa model)
  16. Swift should have used the Evil Twin and Detritivore and only ride unpaved roads. That would be the ultimate promotion for their MTB's
  17. Honey !!! Now where did I put that R136 499.00??
  18. 1 X 9 Cotic Soda, just after I built it up. Brake lines still needed trimming.
  19. Bought my Garmin Edge 500 2 weeks ago for R3965.00 for the bundle. Think I found some old stock. But most places is R4200.00 and over.
  20. Nice!! On my El Mariachi, I use A nine speed chain. Vitiora Barzo 2.25 tires. They are about only 650-Gram a tire I think. ( I stand corrected on the weight) But the Barzo is on Wide Lightning rims so they ended a bit more than 2.25.
  21. All is good and well with cooperating IF/WHEN when they do only take the phone, cash, bike, car, flatscreen or whatever. So on the bicycle , if it is only myself, I cooperate. Perhaps, of topic, but if my family is threatened, and harm to them is imminent, there will be no surrender, even if I go with. It can go so many ways . . .
  22. Man!! Congratulations with that ride!! It is AWESOME!! Even when I was building my Salsa El Mariachi, I was drooling over picture and lusting for that exact ride. That Karate Monkey is just makes you instantly uber cool!. I am honestly jealous!!
  23. Dude!! Nice Bike . Same as mine . . rims and all. I just added a riser Bar.
  24. With the next generation cyclist in the house (and another one on the way ) I unfortunately have no choice but to know this stuff.
