  1. LA doped very successfully and cleaned up, I think the vast majority accept this now, but to pretend or believe or give the impression that he was the main instigator behind doping is naive at least. If we act as though he was the primary instigator then we can pretend that the problem has been solved by punishing him. This will not get to the root of the problem. It will not fairly punish all who were involved. It will not provide a long term solution to preventing this happening again.
  2. A lap through the reserve would make it simply the best race on the calendar
  3. Flat? I seem t remember a few nasty pulls around the reserve and a bitch out of Heidelberg. Are those not on this new route? A long one for sure. I like that
  4. Hmmm. South Coast coffee. Legendary. Just knowing its there is reason enough to buy an Aeropress for travel purposes.
  5. Oh good. He wasted in FDJ. He is one of those riders that look better and better as the dopers get outed and the peloton pace returns to something resembling normal.
  6. Was Roche not riding for FDJ? He had some fair results this year
  7. Well I am glad Saxo is in. Very glad Argos are in for obvious reasons
  8. Look under the cycling safety sub forum. There is a thread devoted to the accident
  9. Get a professional set up done as has been stated above I would also go the 29 hard tail route. It's what I did when I decided to get back into MTB after almost 10 years off. It helped a lot. Oh and for goodness sakes no matter how clever and skilled you might think you are go and do a skills clinic with someone like Sean, the Tread Mag editor owner. One last thing would be to make sure your medical aid is sorted and you know where the closest casualty is. In fact put it in your gps. Then again perhaps it is just me.always had more enthusiasm than skill.
  10. I stretch 3 or 4 times a week after gym. Hate stretching after a ride so don't do it and never before a ride. It helps me with recovery and reduces soreness. It also seems to help prevent cramping and hugely reduces lower back pain. When I am riding hard I do about 14 to 16 hours a week and 4 times a week at gym. I am 52 and the only injuries I suffer from is when I bail off mt bike. That happens a lot I believe but have no proof that the stretching has helped keep me injury free
  11. Jawbones for me. Best I have used and I have been using them since they came out Don't understand why people think photchromatics means you don't need other lenses. Do photchromatics turn yellow on heavily overcast days? Photchromatics also have a limited range over which they can adjust. If they start out as perfectly clear then they don't get dark enough for my liking and if they get dark enough they don't get totally clear for night riding. To each his own. It's a very personal thing
  12. Sometimes cars hoot at me, sometimes they go real close, sometimes they knock me over. I don't moan about it, it's life. The moaning seems to happen mostly on forums. As for taxis, I don't have trouble with them. They are pretty cool actually. Not nearly as bad as grumpy self important white people
  13. Hmmm. Very serious this. I can see it is a very busy road and in peak traffic as well! Lots of oncoming traffic and no space to overtake. You must have been very frustrated.
  14. Lycra shorts may be black or dark blue. This has been debated endlessly and I have nothing further to add other than to say this is a much more serious issue than riding 17 abreast through the cradle or doping to beat your mates on a club ride.
  15. lcycling, you raise what I believe are valid and fair points so far as not judging the man. No we don't know the pressures and yes he is or was a talented rider. However I take issue with the faulty logic, or rather the emotional point of view, that states that we cannot judge or have an opinion on DG's negative actions because we are not in his league as cyclists. If we need to be as talented in order to have a point of view or opinion then that is the end of pro cycling. If we cannot have an opinion on cheating then don't expect us to have one on winning clean or any other aspect of cycling. In other words no more fans and no more pay day for the pros. Us fans, whether talented cyclists or not, are what brings money to the sport. DG was more than happy to accept our opinions when he was winning and we were cheering. He must in return accept our anger and disappointment when it turns out he was cheating. Please note that I say he cheated, not that he is a cheat. I judge the action, and believe I have that right, but I am not judging the person
  16. Totally agree. They think it a stupid law and they also think they are clever enough to not get caught. Would love to know for how long DG doped. Seems they all get caught eventually. Perhaps that last line is naive?
  17. My light hearted reference to the thread going off topic was not aimed at you but to the thread in general Second rule. If the cap doesn't fit don't try to wear it
  18. Oh so you want to talk about DG now? Well a bit off topic but what the hell Actually I am OK with his punishment. It's what was set down in the rules and what he was risking so it is fair. He at least had the guts to take it and not insult us all with a lame excuse. What is your feeling on that issue? I am disappointed that he chose not to reveal supply lines and so on but so be it. News 24 is toxic and not nearly as good humored or informed as here so I will just stick here if that's OK
  19. Not yet but we are getting there. I was just amused at the rapid degeneration of the thread and felt a bit left out
  20. And I thought this thread was about DG. Turns out its actually another pissing contest. My favorite so far is castration as a punishment for doping. It really got me giggling and with my bust rib that was not as pleasant as you would think.
  21. I agree with the punishment from CSA but not sure about this not being a criminal thing. Loads of cyclists and people attached to teams have been bundled off to holding cells in France for doping products. I clearly remember seeing a number of formerly arrogant tough talking skinny guys in Lycra in floods of years while being hauled off to jail.
  22. Flipping funny but true
  23. It says he is going to help establish testing protocols. What disappoints me is he says he has no info regarding supply or any any info on anyone else involved. He say he acted on his own. Didn't know you could make EPO
  24. What is very disappointing is no attempt to provide any useful information. An old style unapologetic doper. No place for this type in cycling anymore
  25. I really admired Fignon but it was watching LeMond win against Fignon that really got me interested in the sport. I was visiting family in Hawaii when I read his book many years ago. It is all about association I guess.
