  1. We have that in common Barry
  2. Oh no. Was the "Cyclists are rude" thread not enough?
  3. Not sure it's "like an addiction". Pretty much resigned to the fact that it is an addiction. A very pleasant one though. Did mostly MTB the 2nd half of this year and it felt amazing to be on a road bike again. I think this weekend I will be back on the MTB again I have a plan for the 24 hour next year and have organized some help for food and bike cleaning. Hopefully I will do better than this year. Next goal this the Nova Coli in Italy in May. 200km and 3800m of climbing. Lots of training needed so just as well I am enjoying it
  4. Did a road ride this morning. Greeted lots of people and was greeted back. Chatted to a few guys on MTB and they were also friendly. Gave me the normal story of how much more fun they were about to have than I could have on a road bike that is just MTB defensiveness. Usually, but not always, noobs that are so excited about what they are doing that they cannot imagine anyone else having fun doing anything else. It's understandable.
  5. Quite right. Twenty months is a long time or be off. Did you make a full recovery?
  6. Four weeks back I broke a rib at the Rietvlei mudfest 24 hour. This morning was my first ride since then As this is the Rant and Rave sub forum I want to rave a bit. It felt fantastic to be back on the bike. It was a lovely morning and we did an easy 70km road ride south of Joburg. No wind, quiet roads and pleasant conversation with mates. Coffee afterwards. Loved how it felt riding up hills, dodging obstacles and diving into corners. The warm muscles, hard breathing, bit of sweat, it was all fantastic. The bike felt light and responsive and the roads smooth. What a great hobby. What a terrific way to spend a few hours in the morning. Can't wait to go out again tomorrow
  7. Agreed but then my wife rides with me so I can safely ignore her opinion on this matter
  8. Sore legs? Riding a bike? I thought that was supposed to happen.
  9. It's not about the number of bikes. Collecting stamps does not mean you like writing letters it means you like stamps. Obsessed about cycling is indicated by the amount of riding you do and the types of riding. Not the number of bikes. My wife tells me I crossed the line last year when I did 100km road ride in the morning, two hours of track at Hector Norris park at midday and managed to squeeze in a night MTB ride at Modderfontein in the evening. I just called It a day well spent.
  10. This is a joke. Very annoying. He gets off on a technicality basically. How could the samples be mishandled? Just not good enough and Heras should have taken like a man.
  11. Ouch, that's got to make your eyes water.
  12. Actually, to be pedantic, the rule states that the customer is king. So even when a customer is wrong they should be treated like a king. If a customer tells you carbon is heavier than steel they would be wrong and you would let them know. You wouldn't say "you are wrong @rsehole" because you wouldn't speak to a king like that.
  13. Pages and pages of mostly pointless rubbish and now we seriously have advocates of road rage? What a cool idea. We can shoot people who ride 2 abreast. Or we can perhaps run them down. The best I have heard so far though is to stop them and give them a prostate examination on the side of the road. I am guessing the Lycra really works for you big guy. By the way I think forcing a finger up a persons bum will probably get you more prison time than riding 2 abreast. The law is funny that way.
  14. The journo is trying to be lever and hip. No big deal. Many words and all about a little bike ride. Atleastot is getting some attention
  15. Yep. Been a long year. Been a long life actually
  16. Was making a little joke actually. You said it was out of this world, I said no it was at worlds. A bit obscure I guess. I thought it was interesting that you said her ride at worlds was out of this world. Hahaha
  17. Ask Cavendish how the madison at the Sydney Olympics went with Wiggins. Give you a better idea about how Wiggins looks out for anyone other than Wiggins
  18. Propensity for self harm! Is that what it is. I thought I was watching a slow motion suicide
  19. Hmm, actually I think it was at worlds?
  20. I find the Aeropress needs a slightly courser grind that espresso. Not as course as plunger. Pressure not a big deal but water temp is critical. Making it upside down saves mess and seems to improve the flovour a little. Sometimes a pinch of salt if the water is hard also adds that little extra. It beats 99% of what is served at coffee shops. Actually some of the finest cups I have ever tasted come from this little device. Harrar through an Aeropress is a religious experience.
  21. It's not a Nespresso I must add before the local fan club attacks me. There are a number of pod machines around. They are not all equal.
  22. Don't agree. I have a machine that fits this description perfectly. Pod inserted, switched on, button pressed, disappointing cup of coffee dispensed. At least it is consistent I suppose
  23. Have the same issue with the same rollers. Haven't sorted it out yet. Seems to be bearings.
  24. I read a very humorous review of a pod machine yesterday. The reviewer stated " at the touch of a button the machine dispensed a very disappointing cup of coffee
