  1. Ariane and Annika's diet of what I assume to be mostly Spur burgers seems to be slowing them down
  2. Lakata and Hynek seemed to struggle a bit today. Hope that either Topeak Ergon or Team Bulls take the win , but leaning a bit more toward Team Bulls at the moment, they deserve the win!
  3. I love her. One of my role models in the sport. Good luck to both of them and I hope Ariane has a great season
  4. Did anyone do the 20km last year? Want to find out for a beginner friend what type of elevation and difficulty to expect?
  5. Well training has not been going at all to plan. Haven't been on the bike once this week, hope to be back on on Tuesday. Still a lot of time left, but I need to up the ante. How are the rest of you doing so far? Time/week on the bike and km's ridden?
  6. Will buy that cassette just because it is black(er than Shimano's)
  7. Anyone willing to share some training routes around Pretoria/Centurion? Nearest "hill" would be Klapperkop, but it's not really that steep or long
  8. BTW, what setups are you guys riding? I'm on a 34T 11-36 1x10 at the moment, but I know that's suicide for the actual race. Will definitely do it on a 30 or 32T with 11-42, or maybe even a 2x10, just for the race.
  9. I'm doing it on a hardtail Looking forward to it, but I know it's going to be REALLY tough. Definitely not ready for a race of this difficulty, but I felt like I was missing out on a lot last year. Will be ready when the time comes... Aiming for 5 hours, but will see how the training goes This sounds like a "real" MTB race with some serious climbing
  10. Less than 4 months to go! Doing my first one, and I will be doing the 80km Training is not going as well as I would hope, but I am working on my climbing and TITS. Share your training and nutrition strategies, as well as any tips here. Specifically interested in hearing how the Gauteng guys will be training for the big one http://www.stillwatersports.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Slide14.jpg
  11. Will they be riding as Team Chops and Wors under the Spur brand?
  12. Anyone know why Momsen pulled out as bike sponsor?
  13. Arianne competed in a XCO WC round, can't remember which one, and she finished 12th or something. So she could do pretty well if she actually focused on XC.
  14. A question of sponsorship and support I guess. A small, local team just can't compete with these European teams, it seems
  15. Might be good for Ariane to be more focused on XCO. Gunn-Ritha Dahle and Annika Langvad are more XCO oriented and they've both done extremely well with Marathon races, both of them having won the XCM worlds and Annika a two-time Epic champ
  16. Good for Erik for getting to ride with Topeak Ergon. Great team and it can only improve his riding. Also good to see Ariane with a new Sponsor, always been one of my favourites
  17. That Trek is a seriously good looking bike though!
