  1. What Myles said. Bike James' Flat Pedal manifesto is what convinced me to take the flat pedal plunge, and I have not regretted it. I have been riding with flats for about a year now, and have found that my skill level and confidence improved greatly in that time. I just recently put my clipless pedals back on as I'm training for my first multi day event. I found there was only a very slight advantage on long flat sections and on long climbs, but this I only started feeling on 40km+ rides.
  2. I LIKE, A LOT!
  3. Does anybody know if someone has been bitten by a snake while riding in SA? Did a quick Google search, and appears there have been some close cases in the US involving rattlesnakes, but only one confirmed bite (from quick search I did). So looks like chances are extremely low, and really the least of our worries out on the trails.
  4. Looks like a Cape File Snake, which are harmless. But not sure if they are found in the Cape Town area (despite the name), so not sure.
  5. Looks like a Rinkhals
  6. My puffy encounter at True Grit Bike Park, Somerset West. The thing was lying right over the riding line, but luckily there was a bit of space on the right. Managed to swerve and miss the tail by probably less that 5cm. Luckily it was not lying over the entire trail, as it was on a very steep and very loose descent, so I was taking it easy down. Wouldn't have had a chance to bunny hop it. Adrenaline was pumping so much after that, the rest of the trail was a breeze.
  7. Pace RC127
  8. (if real) http://metro.co.uk/2016/04/11/woman-filming-herself-snowboarding-gets-nasty-surprise-when-she-watches-footage-5807929/
  9. FFS, I had just decided what bike I was going to get when I won the lotto. Now they go and do this. I also hate myself that I'm lusting over a 29er
  10. Man, Jonkers is looking awesome! Need to get back there ASAP
  11. What they said about 29ers when asked why?
  12. I like this too. I think this is also a perfect all-rounder. Ibis Mojo 3 - 27.5/27.5+. "With one wheelset, you can run 2.3″, 2.5″ or 2.8″ tires with no change in bottom bracket height. This gives the bike multiple personalities, depending on how light or aggressive you want to go"
  13. Very nice. I think this is the perfect bike. I like Pinkbike's take on it "...Now we are always going to be drawn to the bikes that scream and shout at us the loudest, but acknowledging our 'real' needs can sometimes get left by the wayside and doing so at the detriment of our riding experience."
  14. Not sure if this has been posted before, but these still make my knees weak. Stanton Switchback ti
  15. Crap, missed the coconut thing as well. That's it, back to work for me.
  16. Damn, missed that. 15
  17. Had a good laugh at that as well. Can't tell if Eng are playing very badly (sounds like it), and SA are bowling very well, or if this is a low scoring wicket (Wanderers - doubt it). Will have to wait and see what they get in the end and how SA fair.
  18. Looking good at the moment, Eng in a bit of bother at 108/6
  19. Thanks Myles. I must say I was a bit concerned about the RR and its lack of puncture protection. Will have to reconsider. I will probably go for the Grid Purgatory. I see there is not a significant weight difference between Grid and the Control versions. Cheers
