  1. OK, so I have no more than 25 000 to spend. Looking for a 29er for around this price... What is the best value for money? The Giant Anthem X looks like a good buy. A friend has one and swears by it... What else should I be looking at?
  2. Yep. Bike was sold. To an honest buyer... For cash.
  3. Would be pretty cool to set these forkers up. Wouldn't take too much. Advertise a cool looking bike with a small tracking device and surely that would lead you to their little gold mine of stolen merchandise. If the police actually gave a toss, I'm sure it would be a pretty simple exercise. Having said that though, I suppose they have bigger fish to fry.
  4. So I have had my bike on the hub for a little while, and I decided to post it on OLX too. Within the hour of putting it on OLX, I had a message come through (078 260 9563) from a "Gerry Mooler". Can I deliver the bike to an address in Houghton, was the request. No problem. On my way there, I had another message come through... There is somebody whose (sic) waiting for you there. Alarm bells were starting to ring, and I had an uneasy feeling about it. I went to the address opposite St Johns college, which was an old abandoned church. A phone call. Sounding very Nigerian... I am coming now, I will be there in 5 mins. I told him that the EFT needs to be done before I hand over the bike. An SMS not 20 seconds later... Nedbank payment confirmation... From a cell phone number. That was the last straw, I left, and as I thought, no money was ever transferred. Beware.... The other number that was used during this little operation was 074 218 2515. Anyways, if anyone wants the deal of the year... https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&module=core&do=view_item&item_id=70584&new=1
  5. Navitimer...
  6. You actually place yourself in more danger approaching an intersection being on the far left. This is the zone where taxi doors open and people filter out without looking left or right. I know this from first hand experience. Do I filter lanes? Damn right!
  7. Christmas what? For the lucky few maybe....
  8. Colnago related, I guess https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/70584-colnago-c40hp/
  9. Yussy, typical Capetonians...
  10. I bought a fake IWC a few years back in Thailand. It never lost a second over the time that I had it. Went to Sodwana in September and it was stolen out of my diving bag. Now I want to replace it with something similar, but regarding fake watch sites, what is the best site to go on? I mean there are fakes and there are fakes. The shop I used to go to in Thailand had pretty good quality replicas. There are some really shyte quality replicas out there though.
  11. Not saying that they can't start in that group, but at the point they are joining from the front, there is still a good 40 minute wait before that groups start. So why not just join from the back? The people that are in the front at that stage have been standing there for a good hour before Mr. Late comes and squeezes his wheels in (bumping everyones bike out of the way.)
  12. What REALLY hacked me off is the guys who came up on the outside of the barriers, enter the barriers at the Woodmead intersection and then join their group from the front. Listen, bud. You were late, join from the back, or if you are half the cyclist you think you are, show the whole group your awesome cycling skills, and work your way up after you have crossed the mat. Equates to jumping a queue. My pet hate.
  13. 1st lap - 2h48 2nd lap abandoned at the Lion Park. Just couldn't bear the thought of the N14 twice in one day. Well organized (again). Crowd support 10/10. (Best I have seen in the 10 years I have done this event.) So to all the supporters... Well done. You made it worthwhile for a lot of cyclists.
  14. Awesome, I will be looking at about the same. Not sure what kit I will be wearing yet, but here is my steed to look out for... Should be near the front of E.
  15. What sort of finish time have you got in mind?
  16. Not going to read through 9 pages of whinge. I must just say that I was in and out in about 35 minutes though. That was at 5pm yesterday, I expected a push, shove and argument, but got none of the above. Well done organisers! Prefer the dome to SCC too.
  17. Just wondering about the numbers. Are they those crappy stick on kind that were littering the route last year?
  18. Windguru's prediction for Sunday. Could get a bit blustery for the later okes...
  19. Now there's an idea. 2h10 here we come...
  20. Target this year: 2h45ish (Depending on the forces of luck and nature). My best is 2h43, would be sooo nice to improve on that, but we will see how nicely the N14 and thereafter treat my legs.
  21. Fixed
  22. Depends on the shop, really. Northcliff Cycles which is my LBS closes at 16h00 on Saturdays. Maybe 10kms from the Dome...
  23. Details...
  24. I thought so too. Now I just need to source some PED's to make this effort and cost all worthwhile.
  25. I have booked into the Holiday Inn at the start line for Saturday night, so I am good for parking too. Not so sure when I want to exit to go home though? Will have to wait and see.
