  1. And with a similarly poor explanation of the numbers
  2. Yeah, wouldn't be a bad idea to have two randomly situated mats along the route to nab cheats. As sad as it is that we even have to think like that.
  3. Yeah, not kiff. Had a chuckle at your file name though.
  4. Still, this guy gets the award for the strongest kick at the end of an ultra. 3rd fastest and 19th fastest person through Mayville and the finish. Hmmm…
  5. I thought his run last year was incredible and then he annihilated that time this year. Much like Mr Rawlinson.
  6. Guys, it was amazing watching and tracking all of you. Hacc, Mrs Steer and my friend Bernie gave me anxious moments when the app wouldn't update but geez there was some iron will from everyone out there. Congrats to all of you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Good luck all, I hope everyone on here has a great day out and that the rest watching at home get treated to an exciting race from the front runners.
  8. I ordered the large to give to my dad, who's seconding me, so if that turns out to be too small for him then I'll happily swap you for the medium as the large will be too big for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Prices for the official Comrades kit are far more reasonable this year. Shirts generally coming in at R399 and about R799 for the long sleeve/hoodie running tops, which is in line with store prices. The quality looks decent as well. Bad news on the caps if you didn't like last year's. They just hit the reprint button. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Fantastic news on your Lazarus comeback! I'm still carrying a cold but definitely improving. Doc will make a call tomorrow. Jess... there's no point even asking Jess anymore, she'll run even if her leg falls off. How's Kim? Race numbers: Barry: 19079 (target: finish) Jess: 39844 (target: 7:50)
  11. About half a dozen of us cyclists with a running problem could form our own "Let's just get through the day" bus at this stage. I hope you come right quickly, Hacc. You too, Mr Steer.
  12. Yeah, I hate being tailgated by the bus, it just stresses me out for some reason. Last year the first Bill Rowan bus disappeared over the horizon at the start and the second one overtook us in Pinetown, which threw me a bit. We ended up catching them in Scotsville. They seem to run positive splits?
  13. I don't get his tenuous logic behind Caroline withdrawing and then getting a random testing visit the next day. What's he trying to infer?
  14. I'll keep an eye out for you, that's very likely to be my pace for as long as I can manage it as well. Forgot to ask what shoes you'll be running in (that's my go-to identification method). I'll be in RunZone colours. Hopefully catch some of you guys on the day. Well, not you A batch guys and girls.
  15. You'll have to let me know your race number and club colours so I can look out for you on the day and tag on as long as I can
  16. I'm tipping the final podium spot as a race between Anne Ashworth and Sarah Bard now.
  17. Solid advice, Swiss, but I definitely won't run at all if I'm carrying any sickness. We've all heard too many horror stories of heart attacks.
  18. There you go, Jackes: https://www.strava.com/routes/13415528
  19. See the reply above. Had my first good run without ITB pain (thanks for the stretches) and then picked up a cold on Friday. Still can't get up the stairs without feeling out of breath. I'm going to treat it as a festive day, though. I've sent Camille Herron a tweet asking her if she'll sign my shirt if I catch her in the first 10km… at which point I'll need to recover on the side of the road with a few beers.
  20. My Comrades is pretty much done. A severe cold laid me low for the last four days, which compounded the lack of running from the ITB. I should arrive at the start with about 20km over the final month. But, regardless, I'm going to be at the start. I have no expectation of a making the full 90km let alone going for a time but it's Comrades and it's a great run, whatever the distance so I'm going to treat it like the Wings For Life and just see how far I get when the time runs out.
  21. There you go, Jackes. 740m of climbing (or roughly two Pirates half marathons for the Joburg folk). Good reason to be cautious over the first half. https://www.strava.com/routes/13415528
