  1. Well, I'll admit to being a cheat, I used to drive my bike to the bottom of the hill. It's got gravel and all kinda cr@p on it. As well as the problem of killing yourself going up and not being able to warm down once you get to the top. Obviously I've still ridden up a few times, but it's a struggle. We lived at the top on the corner, we've had two trucks fail to make the corner and freewheel/topple over into our fence!
  2. Okay, it's not actually good for training, but it's tough. Avg. 24% That's the hill I lived on until I moved outta home this year
  3. I also get so lost when the thread turns to Afrikaans, but I don't care. It's the funna the game!
  4. Will do. Hout Bay Llandudno has plenty little steep, steep climbs to test.
  5. One time Popeye, you're welcome to my slip stream any day.
  6. Finally I got to ride my wheels yesterday. They're awesome. The most notable improvements on my Vista SL's are: a) The speed at which they spin up is great, when you wanna go they go! b) They roll more smoothly than the Vista's c) They like high cadence, once you're spinning quickly, it's easier to keep my legs ticking over at the same speed. I can't comment on the climbing, since I only went up suikerbossie which I don't think is conclusive since the wind factors in quite a lot to how quickly/slowly you go up there. I'll have to ride some steeper, more covered hills.
  7. I was loving it, every time there's lightning it reminds me of Jo'burg when I lived there as a lighty.
  8. That's from my parent's house, not my office... pererace702007-06-07 05:01:14
  9. ..and I'm expected to get work done! The worst days are when the Bay is glass-still & windless and I've gotta work.
  10. Looking out from my office; that's where noordhoek should be:
  11. All my IDT is done on my rollers. After 1hr my but is too sore to go on. Standing isn't a viable option on rollers...
  12. I'm struggling to put the image up, so here's a link: http://www.eastonbike.com/PRODUCTS/WHEELS/wheel_ascent_II.html
  13. Cool, I've currently got a pair of Easton Vista SL's (and Mavic Ksyrium Equipe's for that matter), so I can compare them & let you know.
  14. I decided yesterday that my bank balance was looking too healthy, so I went out and bought myself new wheels! Easton Ascent II's + GP 4000's + Ultegra 25 X 12 Unfortunately I'll only get to try them out when the weather clears out
  15. What a great stage! I had guests over and I forced them to watch with me, I didn't want to miss anything. I agree I'm also concerned about Cunego, not looking so good, you can see in his face he's not enjoying the hard pace set by Pieploi, Simoni and Di Luca. Di Luca's looking so good I don't think anyone can catch him unless he fades big time over the coming week. Schleck is really impressive, going with almost all the attacks except Di Luca's final stab for the line...
  16. I've gotta tape it... I promised my girlfriend I'd take her to the movies!

  18. live.cyclingnews.com is pretty good I think. It's plain HTML so it's quick
  19. That was pretty funny. Paul and Phil can put me to sleep any day! This guy would give me nightmares
  20. Great, so it's not only me who was seriously disappointed. I've already heard some pretty shocking comments: "And the reigning champion Pauolo Bettini" , "...sprinters like Paolo Savoldelli", "Alessandro PetRachi"
  21. I'd just like to say how upset I am with the commentary we get for the Giro d'Italia highlights. I don't know if anyone's heard it, but the poor guy they've thrown in there barely has clue that a bike has two wheels and pedals... not impressed!
