  1. I'm doing the Cape Town event, but just the cycling leg in the mixed teams category... Got a super quick swimmer and a strong runner in my team so it should be fun! Jason, why don't you find yourself a swimmer and a runner and enter as a team...?
  2. Cool Nellie!! Sorry to p*** on your parade, but I've moved up to E (17 index) now, but enjoy the new group. Maybe you'll move up next month.
  3. I cycled to the West Coast Express from Hout Bay on Sunday, does that count as LSD? Cycling there definitely helped, what a great 'warm-up'! Cycling home was cool as well after the intensity of racing. I'm planning on getting in some big miles this week end, skip the race on Saturday...
  4. What surprises me is that they didn't work in coalition on this one... W.T. said "We have too many mistakes for seedings to take place, wait till friday" and PPA said "to hell with that, we want an early friday" or something to that effect.
  5. Hey Fanie, at least your new group will match group F, if we judge by the W.C.E.
  6. Winningtime's not going to be happy, I e-mailed them yesterday and they told me that they had requested to the PPA that they only run the re-seedings next week tuesday once they had sorted out all the timing issues... Just looked at my seeding and the WCE isn't listed as a ride counting towards my index, so I'm sure they've (PPA) got a bit of work to do. pererace702006-10-31 23:32:52

  8. Paul Needs a Fan Website... If he can afford that bike he can afford a site
  9. Hopefully - I couldn't imagine it to be too expensive.
  10. It is the derailleur hanger, which is removable . So looks like i'll have to fight my way through... Thank Linnega
  11. Today while I was riding past Llandudno my frame's right hand side drop-out (holding the rear deraileur) snapped in half, luckily I was going slowly. So I'd like to know: a) Has this happened to any other Specialized owner on The Hub (or anyone else for that matter)? b) Are the dropouts included in the lifetime frame warrenty? Thanks
  12. ... sorry
  13. Basso may consider non-ProTour teams Yesterday it was made official that Ivan Basso and Team CSC will part ways after the two parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate Basso's contract prematurely. This followed this summer's events, when the Italian was associated with the Operaci?n Puerto investigation and was he pulled out of competing in the Tour de France, his major objective of the year. Despite Basso being told by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) that he would be allowed to re-commence racing due to legal issues over Operaci?n Puerto, the Italian is now on the look-out for a new team. Basso, in an official statement regarding his contract's termination, said, "Thanks to Bjarne Riis for the trust that he has given. Best wishes and good luck to all of them." http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2005/tour05/tour0519/S-BASSO918tn.jpg The 2006 Giro d'Italia winner has continued training since his last race, the final day of the Italian grand tour, on May 28. "At this point I have not signed a new contract," said Basso to La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have been training with the bike in which I won the Giro." The 28 year-old has allegedly been in contact with ProTour teams Discovery Channel and Milram, but neither team will confirm that a contract has been offered. "I am also able to join with a non-ProTour project, with fixed technical and economic guarantees," continued Basso, who has considered Barloworld, directed by Claudio Corti. Although there is the risk is that a non-ProTour team is at the mercy of the Grand Tour organizers to be offered a wild card selection, Basso said, "The setup is interesting because in three years Barloworld could become strong like CSC." In the past, Discovery Channel is said to have expressed interest in hiring the Italian, but the Italian chose to renew with Riis' CSC. Bruyneel is currently in the east for the Japan Cup and is yet to comment on the speculation that the Italian is now free to join the American team. "When I return, I would like to already have everything in order," continued Basso. "I would be happy to leave for vacation knowing my new team jersey."
  14. I think that like most sportsman he has a high self belief, which perhaps some people percieve as arrogance...
  15. That's pretty cool that he's taking a different route by going to America instead of the regular route of going to Europe. Since America is so commercially driven he'll get more coverage there than he would in Europe. Also the only language he'll have to learn is slang.
  16. From Cyclingnews.com: Team CSC head to South Africa ProTour outfit Team CSC has announced it will head to South Africa for a 10-day visit during December. The trip will be used as a team building exercise ahead of the 2007 season and also see the outfit announce its 2007 rider lineup during its stay in Cape Town "South Africa is a perfect destination for team building and training," explained team manger Bjarne Riis. "You have world-class facilities and accommodation, fantastic roads and cycling terrain and an ideal climate. You also have a very passionate local cycling following whom we believe will be excited to have Team CSC in the country." The team is also offering 100 cyclists the chance to interact with the team's 30 riders and 40 support staff during a three-day package ride commencing December 8. "We believe Team CSC's visit to South Africa will inspire South African cyclists of all races to achieve international success," added Team CSC's managing director of South African operations Martin Vergunst. "It is our intention is to use Team CSC's visit to boost local talent by giving our local CSC cyclists and other talented riders the opportunity to learn from the world's top team."
  17. ... I think you should search the forums, there are a million different debates on the matter.
  18. It's quite funny because a friend of mine said to Darren Lill "I think what you should do in the Worlds it take Bettini's wheel" ...Darren replied "Bettini will have to take my wheel" Well, Bettini won. I was watching (reading) the live coverage today and every second line read "so and so attacks!" so the racing was mighty intense. The second last lap was raced at 47km/h, after 210km of racing! Well done guys, to get one of our riders in the top 50 is great, especially looking at the quality of the field...!
  19. If the organizers are to stick to their advertised time, they should have a huge clock at the entrance to the event so that people know what that time is... If my watch was 5mins late, I'd have a small problem wouldn't I?
  20. Me niether, I love the hills. Hopefully I'll do well and my seeding will get affected (positively). Is the funride only 60km? Or can I do the full 90km, being a non-registerd rider?
  21. Last night must have been quite painful for who ever went out...
  22. You could even work on people's conscience by putting a message on the shirts, like: "We're cleaning up, what are you doing?" or "Wanna help? Do your bit too, don't litter". ...Something corny and/or blatent pererace702006-08-31 03:58:33
  23. While we're on riders and not being mentioned, why do we never here anything about Ian McLeod, I know that he's part of Fran?aise des Jeux and that he's probably a domestique (I've never seen his name near the leaders on in the results sheets), but that's it...?
  24. Unfortunately the problem's not just confined to cyclists, ever driven down a road after a running race (or a walking race - is that even a sport!? - like I rode past in sea-point yesterday)...? The amount of litter makes it emarassing to be a human, not just a cyclist. I hate litter it sucks
