  1. Feels a bit like this year around the conversation on the Stell & CTCT is a bit less than previous years, or is that just a false perception. For me, I will be one of the guys on the tandem ;-) So Helshoogte is going to be very interesting
  2. I am waiting to see the blog being started where they will offer info on the compatibility vs the different frames. But asume that it will take them a while especially for the older frames.
  3. Or if they had to combibe all the threads where people complain about how certain cyclists or motorist acted like A-O
  4. Park ToolAK-3 Advanced Mechanic Tool Kit https://www.onedayonly.co.za/ak-3-advanced-mechanic-tool-kit.html
  5. https://reviews.mtbr.com/washington-state-clarifies-e-bike-rules-on-trails ps. I do see the irony as I am the one posting a new comment keeping the thread alive
  6. I am just amazed every time I see this thread pop-up. Has there been ANY other thread which has kicked a dead horse to such an extent as this one? Like it or not in future there will be more of the ebikes in the mountains and races, and who knows some day in the future the majority of the riders in the big races might be on e-bikes with the manual pedal riders get stuck in "vintage" races like the Eroica races
  7. Thanks for sharing...
  8. I understand Mike's point, because if the rules become to loose what is next a guy rocking up with a ebike and picking up battery packs at each water point ?
  9. Would have loved to ride it but was in that area last week for the Yzerfontein race, think ideally they need to spread it out further from each other.
  10. Wow hope that they are ok? Did they set some PB before being hit?
  11. As is lots of other things that certain riders have that others don't. Could even argue it is an tool to equilize things between those that have spare time to exercise on their smart trainers at home with powermeters on a feather light bikes, etc Of course all being said tongue in cheek.
  12. Ahhh.. someone with a plan
  13. Should that not have been in comic sans, as it is not really the same is it?
  14. We can go around and around, but if you look at the forecast, there will be more and more of these bikes on the trails in future. More of the races will include an e-bike category. This will not change, who knows in a few years they might even have the ebikes road start in front of the tandem group. So if you have a problem with e-bikes, what are you going to do about it because talking will not stop the tide. If you feel strong about engage with the organisers of races and for them it will be a number games, if enough pedal rider vs e-bike riders complain they might exclude e-bikes. Else it is just something you will need to get use too.
  15. So does this mean they will get people to weight in at the start when you pitch up at the trails? I mean someone skinny is riding the trail vs a overweight person then it will also be "fair" for them to be charged different. What about the back brake brigade? Do they not damage the trails more?
  16. does it include the locations of all those big crickets on the road?
  17. So the change from June to October made this a totally different race, doubt you would have had as much fun with a gravel bike..
  18. You really had a challenging day on (or rather off the bike). This race might be the one with the most chain links being left behind on the route compared to any other race.
  19. Was wondering how the gravel bikes were going to do in the sand, think it was different last year when the sand was a bit more compacted
  20. Thanks to all for the organisation as well as the big blue.. Blue Ribbon, those new square bread looks and taste amazing. Ok a summary of the race will have to include sand, armoured ground crickets, and more sand. But overall there was a nice vibe with the weather being nice and cool at the start. What I did realise again is how lots of riders do not know how to ride over sand. Oh and it made more sense for the goody bag at the end instead of at registration. Clever thinking there
  21. So how was the riding yesterday for those that participated? Must say I thought the weather was a challenge last year with the heat and wind and rain, but this year it just took it to another level it seems. Hope today went much better and that all got to the end safely (including the bikes, as I wonder how many drivechains got eaten up in the mud yesterday)
  22. Also thinking of doing this with a "gravel" bike / tandem. Think it will be possible, or will I be walking alot?
  23. So all the now need for the Siraz race is storm winds, then they basically had all the extreme weather systems covered again this year for the w2w
  24. what I am taking from this is that I started cycling to late, can just imagine the races that was more geared around a passion before they became to expensive to run, to many issues, etc. Why do you think those races stopped? Was it all the hassles that go with it and those people that always complain about what went wrong on the day vs what went well?
