  1. Like I said, I'm probably just naive. Wow. I'm glad I'm not in the same social circles as you but thanks for the info.
  2. Well maybe I'm just very naive. With regard to the poll, isn't there an option to vote anonymously? That's what I had in mind.
  3. Well that I just don't get. Who brags about coming nowhere in a race that they are doing for fun. Are there really people like that? And would you take them seriously? I wouldn't. Now that, to me, is just ridiculous (not you personally - anyone who would dope just to finish a race). I don't know anyone who would do that, do you? I think we should have a poll and ask all the hubbers 1. would they dope if they're not racing (and if yes, why?) 2. would they dope to finish a race.
  4. Why would anyone who is not racing dope? (The quip about the lucky draw was obviously a joke.)
  5. Who cares whether the cyclo sport licensees dope? They're not competing for prize money so there's no unfair advantage. Testing them just wastes a lot of money when it should be used for testing where it matters. Unless you think that the funriders that dope should be disqualified so that they can't enter the lucky draw at the end of the funride.
  6. I've bought several things on ebay, but mostly not cycling related. I would definitely recommend it but, like the others have said, check shipping prices and policies as well as seller ratings before you commit to buy.
  7. Usually people are so eager to point things out, like with the face in the forest. Not in this case so I'm going to take it that I'm not the only one that needs an eye test.
  8. I can't see it either.
  9. You're blatantly nasty about the OP and I'm nasty for asking you not to be? Clearly there is no reasoning with you - back to the awesomeness of the thread.
  10. Yeah, you can be the nasty guy on the awesome thread. Just don't get upset when people say you're nasty.
  11. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/cycling/lance-armstrong-you-cant-win-tour-de-france-title-without-taking-drugs-8678185.html Lance Armstrong: You can't win Tour de France title without taking drugs In reply to the question whether it was possible to win cycle races without dope while he was a professional rider, Armstrong said: “It depends which races you want to win. The Tour de France? Impossible to win it without dope. The Tour is a test of endurance where oxygen is the decisive factor.” Where's the picture of the crying, snotty baby? That's the first thing that came to mind when I read this.
  12. So what's the moral of the story? Do the back-of-packers now also need to get TUE's, even if they're nowhere near to being competitive? I am a fat funrider, if I do races I start at the back and stop at all the waterpoints. I have never bothered to establish whether anything in my chronic medication is banned, or anything in any other medication I may take from time to time. Does that make me an evil doper?
  13. Somewhere on theHub there is a pic of what happens to a carbon fibre bike when you crash off rollers. Happened to Fandacious. I lost concentration on my rollers a couple of weeks ago but managed to put my foot down in time. Unfortunately my floor is rather smooth and my cleat just slipped out from underneath me and I ended up doing a semi-split on the floor. So, I think they're great for training as long as you don't lose your concentration.
  14. I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make this ride any more. Have fun guys.
  15. Could I please join? Need to get back on the bike.
  16. Sounds like its going to be a lot of fun. Enjoy it. And take lots of photos for the report on Monday.
  17. Been thinking about it but probably not going to. I'm sure you guys will have lots of fun tho.
  18. I have two magic shines that someone can use if worse comes to the worst.
  19. What does the cheese challenge entail?
  20. I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make this ride any more. Hope you guys have lots of fun though. And good luck with the race, WP. I've never done the 94.7 but I've found that with big races like the Argus there is so much excitement at the start it is easy to get swept up and start too fast. Start slowly and you'll be fine.
  21. Can I please join? Really need to work on my fitness.
  22. Agree that the format could have been different but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun.
  23. Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but the actual Slow & Funfit starts at 7:00 in the Groenkloof parking lot. The guys with too much energy ( ) are cycling to Groenkloof from Moot (?) and are starting at 6:00. I don't know how fast they'll be going but the route sounds quite hectic.

    Dopers

According to the 2010-2011 South African Institute for Drug-free Sport annual report, triathletes were tested 141 times during that period and there was one positive. Compare that to cycling where, for the same period, there were 248 tests and one positive. 9 applications for TUEs for triathletes were received and only 5 were approved. In cycling 46 applications were received and 33 were approved.
