  1. Is that the hollow pin chain in the pic? Isnt that by far the lightest chain on the market though?
  2. Very nice frame. I have a nice Look fork that people often comment on. I just cant really bite the cost of the frame though. Surely there is other frames on the market which are of similar weight but cost half that? Or am I being totally naive here?
  3. Ya cool man. I see you are from the western cape as well. What area? Im from table view.
  4. I did the road race last year. Head wind the whole way back. But I loved it. I am going back this year and no matter what the cost or the weather. Although R185 for a national level race is fine anyway. Come on, whats the use about moaning about the price when that will be the smallest part of your expenses to go there.

ya, that will be awesome. We had 8 people last night, some newbies as well, but we had a load of fun. Feel free to invite anyone else as well. I am going to take my lights with for next week, at the end of the ride it was just a little on the dark side, but still manageable though. Its all jeep track anyway so the worst that will happen at night is you will ride into a sandy patch or a bush or something!
  6. Very nice pics - Well done! I really enjoyed the race. Pity you dont have any pics from further down the lineup though! Awesome.

Hello, just some directions and to clarify my statement above. I am not sure how many of my friends will join me tonight. But depending on how many people we have, we could even split up into two groups. Everyone invited so far is friendly and should be willing to try and everyone happy. The course is super easy, jeep track, little rolling hills that lift your HR for a few seconds but thats about it. Nice for doing some speed work if you have strong guys. Directions : Go down the R27 (West Coast Road) past melkbos, carry on straight and go past the Duinefontein turn off as well. Probably about 500M after that you can turn left into Koeberg. Stop at the gate tell them you are going to cycle, you need to take your ID or drivers license! They will make you sign the book and you are in for free. Drive straight down the road to the 4 way stop (towards the reactors) carry on across the 4 way and there is a big undercover parking area there. You can park in any of the bays. I drive a silver opel astra. What am I going to wear..... mmmmmmm...... ok I will wear my white cycling top that has red polka dots so that you will notice me. What else to bring - Juice, warm fold up top (it gets cold really quickly there in winter), spare tube (although ive never had a flat) + accessories. Maybe bring a headlight as it is a bit dark at the end and you may need it if you have a technical problem. Riding time could be anything from 50min to 1.30 or so. Last week I did a new loop which I had never done before and that added a couple of K's as well. So we will see. Dont forget your ID! You can phone me if you want. 082 371 6779 Cool - see you later Warren

Hello We are planning on riding at koeberg tomorrow (Monday) at around 5.30PM. Not quite sure how many riders there will be, or if it will be a relaxed ride or what but it is always nice to have some more people out there. Let me know if I can expect anyone else. cool
  11. Ya, after that photo she posted earlier, I dont think we can be sure!
  12. I do agree that the argus should have a more comprehensive insurance for things like this. They did have an indemnity form for the race, but when they took the bike they also accepted responsibility for it as well. In a very sad and twisted way the indemnity form has almost given them the leeway to "take" a bike. I get nervous leaving my bike at the bike-park each year. On the bike insurance side, Doesnt the person have insurance on the bike as well? Surely such an expensive bike would have been insured? I know that claiming from insurance ends up with a nasty premium increase though. oh golly. I really hope that you can sort something out. My bike was stolen a year ago from my garage, door lock cut off, it was the only thing taken! Not such an expensive bike - maybe R15K, but I wasnt insured for it. I actually cried big tears! I thought that my cycling fun was going to be over because I didnt have the money at all for another bike. Very very very luckily for me, I found the bike at a cash crusaders down the road, they had bought it for R1000! They had no freaking idea what a proper bike is worth! I felt like beating the c&*p out of them when they told me that I had to buy it back from them because that is money that they had now spent. I called the police and they actually did a great job & I had it back the next day. So I know what it feels like to loose a bike! Somebody could rather take my car, but I love my bike!
  13. awesome I must give them a call sometime shot
  14. I was thinking this very same thing the other night. I was fortunate enough to go and watch the start of the durbanville stage of the giro. Both the giro and the epic share the fact that loads of the entrants are among the worlds best riders. I am more into road riding, so before the giro I was scratching around looking for info on the ride and the amount information/media/data that they had about it was very sad. When I look at the epic coverage, I have two epic magazines lying next to bed, you open a cycling or a getaway magazine or something like that and it is constantly in your face. It is often on the TV all year round. (& i dont have dstv either) oh well. No use really complaining, doesnt really help anything. But just imagine the kind of media coverage the giro would get if Lance decided to come and do it. It would be on freaking CNN for the week or something you know anyways
  15. Hey, I bought a liter of liquid latex from a place in goodwood - I know that doesnt help you much though because you are in jhb. But before I found this place I did some local google searches and there is quite alot of places that sells the stuff. The place I got it from sells rubber moulded products, so thats probably the right place to look for. You dont really need to add to much else into that. Try add some rubber filings or sawdust if you can. There is so many different variants out there how to make your own concoctions. I even found a online patent for a mixture that uses normal flour. I wanted to build this one but I didnt know where to find calcium cloride though.
  16. That sounds cool. Just around the corner from my house. Is there a club fee or anything? I always feel bad when I go ride with the outriders. But I am not keen to join right now, I only ride with them a few times a year, so it would be a waste of money. Also have been trying to do as many of the races as possible in the last few months so that becomes my weekend ride.
  17. Hey, this is quite a big worry for me as well! I often go riding there. The only thing that used to worry me was the Zebras that made me have to back track twice. Seems like I will have to arrange group rides there now. I am not really going to feel safe with two people will have to get three now. Where exactly on the course did the mugging take place? I have even been riding there in the dark a few times with a light, (winter rides) thats kinda out the window now. oh well, now the big question Dodge taxis with my road bike or potentially get attacked while mtbing mmmmmm...........
