  1. I ride parklands to belville (sanlam) everyday. But sorry i only leave at 6.30. I go up plattekloof, hendrik vervoet (or straight across N1) and then that road that runs past the hospital, across durban road and down to work. Tried going via tickidri a couple of times, but it is about 5-6Km longer. I dont mind the hill, but the extra accumilated mileage kills me afterwards. Especially since I am still racing on the weekends and DC training. I am currently doing maybe 1500 a month, so for myself I am bordering on overtraining. But I am always looking for riding buddies though.
  2. Hi. I cant find the WCE pics on the torquepics website. Are they up on there yet?
  3. Anybody else keen? We are heading out camps bay way, we will see how the day goes for the mileage. I have a feeling that we may cut it a little shorter because some people are going to be leaving their cars in the area.
  4. And then they will phone him in the week to find out how he cheated because he came first in his group by 30 minutes.
  5. I can definitly agree that overtraining would help your muscles to cramp. It seems like cramping is a defence system that your body uses to help you to not damage your muscles. When you start twitching, you have no choice but to slow down. I really struggle with cramping as well. I "think" that cramp block has been helping me, well at least I think that I have seen a difference. According to those sport jornales though, they seem to only think that cramping is due to fatigue. I have to agree that fatigue is the big player in it, because I have seen myself get less cramps the more trained I have become. BUT What I dont understand though, is why do some people never ever seem to cramp? They can push themselves totally into the ground with nothing left in them, when I still have lots left in my tank I feel amazing then all of a sudden the twitching starts. There has to be something else as well. I really hope that they can find out sometime soon what it is.
  6. Look, injuries are a reality in every race. Look at the entries they received on their website. About half of the entries were international riders. So it is a "half decent" race already. If Lance is going to be here in that time period anyway, is there no way that he might be tempted to ride it? Does he even know about it? Cant somebody twitter it to him or something?
  7. I know some of you arent really interested with the idea of Lance coming here.... BUT! Just imagine if he had to ride the giro del capo though. Imagine the huge injection that would give into our local cycling here. Yes we do have the epic, but in road cycling terms we have like no international exposure. Do you think he would he ever consider doing this race?

  9. I was considering doing the route twice or heading out over the hills. But I thought it is so much nicer going out along the coast though. & I havent been on that side of the mountain since the argus I think. The other thing is also, the WCE is pretty flat so I will need to do a big hill or two with the distance to know that I am telling my body what is going to be happening on race day. Come on guys, its going to be nice. The pace wont be too fast.
  10. I suppose that is the right term to use for a ride after a ride! I am going to be doing some DC training after the westcoast express. Maybe out to chappies? I am open to anyone joining and suggestions. Please only come along though if you are capable of riding 160+ in a day. I dont really feel like pushing anyone home. We will stop for snacks etc along the way. Maybe even lunch somewhere? What do you guys think?
  11. After doing the one tonner yesterday the tip of my index finger was dead. This hasnt happened to me before and I do loads of riding. I think I must have been clenching onto the hoods too tight or something. A little worring though, the tip of my finger still feels funny today though. It almost feels like I got burnt from a tyre bomb or something. Anyone know what this is?
  12. American Classic Sprint 350!!
  13. Flipping crazy guys here. As soon as I start creeping over 60 I start getting nervous. I have done 80 down helshoogte (towards stellenbosch) But more impressively I have hit 70 on a flat road (westcoast rd between milnerton and table view) with a big helping hand from the south easter.
  14. & oh yes. I have a lovely little boy. Not quite sure if I want more right now, so maybe I should stay on the seat ? http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/4985/1005462t.jpg
  15. This seat is both very nice and very horrible to ride on! Very nice that the first half of your race it feels amazing, very connected to the bike. Second half your bum takes some strain! BUT!!!! I have never got any chaff from this saddle even after 9 hour rides. AND my 3rd leg used to go dead after long rides on my old saddle but this one is just awesome.
  16. Getting there. Got my rims the other day, rides like a beaut. Need to change the frame though to one size smaller. Waiting on a RC9000 frame to arrive. Any takers on this frame? 56cm. http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4075/bikeslh.jpg
  17. Thanks I do have a second set of rims, but the rolfs were super duper light! Would anyone still want the hubs for anything?
  18. You guys are worrying me now! If you arent breastfeeding you shouldnt know what to do! I will try and take some pics later on. Otherwise - anybody want to buy a wheelset?
  19. I have a set of Rolf Dolomite MTB rims. I think some of the spokes on the rear wheel were overtightened and over time the rim has started showing hairline cracks around two of the nipples. Is there anyway to fix this? I have looked at getting a replacement 20 spoke V brake rim but I havent found anything at all. Anyone?
