Warning; cycling related. Aleix Espargaro could be offered a spot on the Euskaltel-Euskadi squad as well doing MotoGP. Is Dovi coming to Aprilia and will he adapt to the AE bike?
  2. He he he in best Zuma speak. I wonder if they have been paying Airbus to keep their aircraft software updated? Hypothetical question.

I think he means George; that oke they used to write really funny pieces about when he was with Gigi and Ducati; we miss him, well the letters anyway. He's still around telling those who will listen how he did it. Not a bad rider in his time I believe

Well, not quite, BB could be in some trouble for giving the old Doc a nudge; that sent him down to 16 or so . Although Rossi got his revenge when, I assume, BB's tyres went "off". Always a tough track for KTM, and maybe Honda although Poll rode well, the rest battled a little.
  5. My only gripe with Makita (I have not used other brands) is that the Forward / Reverse button can easily be pressed to change when you don't want to. Regarding torque, I bought the simplest 1/2" impact driver but wouldn't mind a torque setting. Still have to loosen wheel nuts with a long breaker bar.
  6. Exactly like that - asked at a local tool store that stocks the Gedore, Tork Craft, Jonesway, Kennedy, MicroTek etc and they said they didn't have, or know of one. You can use a 1/4" drive but in my case the application has a small opening then a long way (100mm) to go. The socket is too bulky; it can't get though the opening. I can obviously use the long section of an Allen key but it is a bit clumsy as you need to put a spanner on the short end for leverage. Just 4 of the little buggers but they are irritating. The long hex with a little ratchet (I have the Bosch set) would work well. A too many tools problem.
  7. Also consider a turn of plumber's tape under the mounts so they don't bind if hit. A dirt bike thing for some.
  8. A grumble on hex bits; you can get longish ones but I cannot seem to find an extension as you would get with socket sets?
  9. Ja well no fine; I have a 2018 Husky 501 (R80k) and that thing is a looong way off the ground, even compared to my 640 and 525. Not for the short legged unless you lower it - I am challenged. While you can drone on the asphalt it is boring, hard seated, noisy and eats tyres. Aside from the vibrasies the 640 is a pleasure on asphalt by comparison. The 501 is a lovely light bike though and that is a big factor, particularly if you ride alone and are not a beast - for me, you have to be able to pick the thing up! With its full 28 litres and a little luggage the 160kg 640 is a challenge, more so if it is wet and slippery .
  10. Absolutely; my ex riding partner in NZ tells me that he is now scared of getting hurt on the trails as they are so lonely (a mate of his had a long wait with a broken leg). Garmin or Spot Tracker needed.
  11. If one is serious and the tool is expensive; engrave and photograph or photograph serial number.
  12. Also, if riding alone, important (I think) to be able to pick your bike up. KTM 790 and Yamaha 700 could be marginal.
  13. It is cool but something like the Honda 300 recently launched in SA may have been a better bet? I think if you avoid freeways and carrying too much luggages a 250/300/350 is fine; subject to gearing.
  14. Just hope none of them are from SA...................

I don't ride on the road except for short sections between MTB trails and on one, this Saturday, with no yellow line area at all, the taxis etc are very scary. 1.5m se gat; more like 1.5mm. Better soft than dead or mangled.
  16. My digital Mitutoyo is one of the best tools I have ever bought as my eyesight fades a tad. It gets lots of use and batteries do ok; unless you forget to switch it off
  17. I use my compressor (2kW, 120l/min & 50l tank) once a week or so and it is very handy to have. If I bought again I would buy a quieter one. Runs out of puff quite quickly.
  18. Seeing the HD reminds me - maybe it was posted but sad about Dale Walksler (Wheels through Time museum) passing. St Pete must have heard a rumble coming along blowing smoke and leaking oil.
  19. He he I bet things on the flight deck were quite er, active
  20. Eish, things learnt the hard way - quick link pliers are great - the double action ones (fasten and unfasten) look even better. Will have to investigate.
  21. Well remembered although I never met Johann; let the Dikwiel Kommando trundle in our memories as we get old and sentimental.
  22. Very nice; If you can achieve neatness of first pic; excellent!! I know you know but I made my own desk with steel legs and kitchen counter Formica 600 x 1800mm. Top has a bullnose on one edge but top only. Both sides of the edge you work against need a radius of some sort for comfort.
  23. It is a tough business - see interview with Skyler Howes who put his dislocated shoulder back in and raced 3 months after spinal fusion - he noted that Toby Price won with a broken bone in his hand. Not this year - last year or before. Couple of injuries at the top - broken nose and split lip. Gutted for Ross Branch; seemingly a somewhat random event too, bent chain guide. David Knight, who some said was an arrogant prick is good value; as are the Coronel brothers in their car. The Toby Price tyre "repair" was interesting. After the deaths of Gonk, and Elmer Symons before that, I am scared to watch the Dakar. It is so harsh.
  24. It may be elsewhere but please spare a serious thought and/ or prayer for Joey (Dakar) Evans' daughter Jenna who was involved in a horrific car accident through no fault of her own and is literally, as I read it, clinging to life in a really desperate situation.
  25. How time goes; took a ride in an area I remember Burry powering up in winning (by miles) a very wet and muddy Hill2Hil back in the day!. I watched him and maybe 3 other pro's riding the section; the rest; to a man or woman, pushed. Today there had been rain and I had to get off and push after maybe 15% of the climb. Helluva thing losing him.
