  1. What expo? maybe I was there before the expo coz I walked out the same door I went in. Parked my car at 10:40 am left just before 1:00 pm.
  2. Just had a look inside my goodie bags ............... what a load of sh*te! I've got two pairs of ladies sports socks two silly things that supposedly enable me to stand up and pee. There's bubble bath stuff and funny creams and other crap. Both bags were full of ladies products even though it says Veteran Men on the envelopes with the numbers. A few things will get used. The numbers!! and maybe the energy bars but I dunno 'bout mielie flavoured porridge. I wonder why they can't email our numbers so we print them that way it saves us wasting half a day trying to get them! Oh yes, a few old issues of some magazines completely unrelated to cycling.
  3. ...............sorry, I forgot what this topic was really about I've started a new one!

  5. my knee thinks it knows everything and I took a headache tablet for my ITB problem .................. but alcohol goes staight to my knee and makes me walk funny!!
  6. Arran Brown ........... because I know him!!
  7. as I walked in there was a litle stand on the left then a kids registration thing then the solid wall of people all trying to get numbers, timing chips, but nothing that hinted of an expo - where was it? I read the guy my number (it was an sms) at registration, he checked the nmber on my cell phone and 5 min later came back telling me it wasn't there and he'd call the supervisor. Eventually he came back saying I had to go to the queries desk because my number was wrong. He checked the number again but said that's what he had. After a wait of about 40 min I get to the queries desk and hand the girl the piece of paper my number had been written down on at the registration desk, she checks on the computer, writes down the number and hands me the piece of paper. I look and it has an extra 2 comapred to the number that the fidiot had written down - and supposedly checked .... I dn't think he can count. So off I went, back to the queue!!! GRRRRRR GRRRRR GRRRRR If this is what I have to go through to do a 94,7 it will be my first and last

  15. I reckon so ............. I enquired about that Marin about a year ago, but never got a reply!
  16. In motorsport you can get 'SA' colors simply by doing well in South Africa. Racing internationall virtually assures you of colours, but there's no SA team and the competitors have to finance it themselves or find sponsorship. .......... costs a lot to race overseas as you can't just arrive in the departures lounge and hand it a racing car as you check in!!
  17. oh yes ........... it also has to be convenient. I'm in the East so Linden Cycles would be a no go just because I never go there.
  18. I like Finish Line Cycles. There's a lung burstin mtb ride every Wed @ 3pm and again on Sat & Sun mornings. I get free coffee ........... made from real beans and h2o that hasn't been watered down. When my bike got stolen they were sympathetic and sold me another (much, much more expensive) one. Clint (aka Bob the Builder) says crime does pay!! Oh, they do a good job fixin things and sellin things as well.
  19. in 72 years time children at cyberschool will learning about world history and 'how photoshop fooled the world' will ba a favourite part of the syllabus!! Oh yes ............ they'll ride home on their virtual bicycle after they've entered their MTC (matter transportation campsule) which will be activated by dna sampling. Repairs to damaged tissue will also take place during the8/100 000ths sec it takes to travel home
  20. What nobody has thought about........ On the M1 between JHB & PTA the emergency lane is now a traffic lane so a motorist assumes that all emergency lanes are now traffic lanes. I wrote to (MMT) Metro Money Takers when this silly idea was implemented, got no feedback, reply nor acknowledgement from them.
  21. Haven't heard it anywhere apart from a mate who heard it on 702. Irrespective of whether it was motorcycle or bicycle I think people on this board jump to conclusions. Sure it was the emergency lane, but how do you know it wasn't an emergency that caused the accident? Will anyone then question why he was cycling in the emergency lane. As far as I know the emergency lane is not to be used except for emergencies.
  22. Maybe its time we had a topic dedicated to road safety issues. A cyclist was killed in Midrand this evening whilst cycling in the emergency lane somewhere along Allandale/Chloorkop rd
  23. Sorry to dash all your hopes. Forget about a cycling lane. I was at a press conference a few weeks ago with Dept of Transport and National Roads Agency. Cycling is on the agenda, but to get the masses to to Gautrain stations etc and it will not be aimed at recreational cycling. I think it will make taxi drivers hate cyclists even more than they already do as they'll see them as a threat to their income ............
  24. Gentlemen! This all boils down to respect. If cyclists respected traffic laws, like stopping at stop streets, traffic lights etc then other road users would not adopt a 'if they can do it, then so can I' attitude. When a cyclist goes through an intersection when the light is red then why can't Tim the taxi driver or Hariette the housewife. Little Timmy then sees all these drivers ignoring yeild signs etc and grows up to do the same. Michael Metro Cop sees Bob the Banker do it and instead of issueing a fine, accepts a R100 bribe and slowly the laws become ineffective because no-one has respect for them or authority. Life becomes cheap or worthless and somebody sits quietly in the corner and says 'George Orwell was right'. It's high time we set an example by obeying the rules ........ then, and only then will we have a voice!
  25. fact is I was going where she wasn't ....... but suddenly she decided to change her direction. I'm not fast, cautious yes, but the basic rule of road use (in SA) is 'keep left' Maybe a few KEEP LEFT signs around the track wouldn't be a bad idea.
