  1. Anyone else have feedback on the road conditions?
  2. Took this late year at Boschendal on a crisp clear day - absolutely no filter used!
  3. Nick, what was your experience with this - did you end up paying VAT on the Shipping Costs as well?
  4. Bleak I am missing this year - enjoy everyone!
  5. I joined this last year - rode straight into a horrendous South Easter through Muizenberg which was harrowing, lekka vibe and enjoyed smashing a beer at 6 in the morning when we finished at Forries!
  6. Thanks Bud, sounds like a similar arrangement to what they had at Wines2Whales a couple of years ago.
  7. Any idea if there will be a charging station available at all - I see there was some talk last year earlier in the year but any more information or we just going to Powerbank route?
  8. Is this confirmed? No more Shimano imports Merlin?
  9. **Edit** This is dated two years ago Would have been dead keen to do this but it's the same week at the Sani2C trail which I am tackling with the old man - next year maybe
  10. Took this photo earlier on this year at Boschendal on a Saturday morning ride. Absolutely no filter on this - the water is literally that blue
  11. Awesome Weekend - my first time riding out there... This is proper Mountain Biking. Thank you organisers!
  12. My Garmin Forerunner 35 has completely bombed out - screen is just showing a couple of scrambled lines on the screen and tried charging up and hard reset... No luck. Was bought from Sportsman's Warehouse in January - what would be best, take it back back to the store or send straight back to Garmin with the receipt?
  13. Had a friend who did this and was raving about it - thoroughly enjoyed the vibe!
  14. Been following this thread for a couple of days now. This is a helluva complex issue. If I bought a R78k Canyon I would expect to be able to Aero Tuck - although don't have the required skill to pull this off but if I was willing to spend that much money on a bike I would hope that I could pull it off... But that's just me. Canyon could have been more eloquent in their emails - no doubt about that. Mention of Pro's winnings on a stage and indirectly questioning Rory's skills level - not cool. The fact that they replaced two frames no questions asked is awesome - speaks to a really client centric attitude, maybe just the delivery of the last message could have been better. As for the jabs and snotty remarks about the OP's weight and handling skills - completely unnecessary but I guess it was expected... Banter levels always high. I am sorry about all of this Ror - find a lekka frame that you CAN Aerotuck on with confidence and GO RIDE.
  15. Okay Everyone, helluva week at work last week meant I didn't get to update on my delivery from Merlin via UPS. I couldn't believe it when, after placing my order around midday last Wednesday I got a call from the UPS courier on Friday morning at 11:00 informing me he was 5 minutes away from my office with the delivery!! So all in all... 36 Hours from the UK to Cape Town. Fantastic experience and will definitely be checking out Merlin in the future when I an in the market for components!!
  16. Okay this makes me feel a little better... Fondy do you know if you also have the option to also pay the fees on delivery?
  17. Will keep everyone posted... Holding thumbs here!
  18. Just saw a couple of UPS experiences in earlier posts which were also not positive but let's hold thumbs...
  19. You guys are getting me nervous now... Ordered from Merlin Cycles yesterday with UPS and from some experiences described on here I would be in for one helluva wait
  20. Is there a profile for this route somewhere?
  21. Hi Demtri, I am going to be honest I have been sick the last week so only had an opportunity to ride on the mountain once properly, and then a couple of short commutes into work. I went up onto Table Mountain for a spin and found the 1x11 great - I was already a little run down before getting the man flu so hard to say if it made a big performance impact - but love how simple the 1x11 is... As for the Oval Chainring, I could definitely feel the difference initially but after a while it felt much of the same... If anything upgrade is gonna give the bike a new lease on life and I'm feeling hella gees to ride again.
  22. Will keep you posted Demetri
  23. Having my new XT 11-46 installed today along with my Rapide 32T Oval Chainring - coming from 2x10 I am interested to see what my experience is like and whether I will be more comfortable on a 34T Oval. Either way quite excited!
