  1. What a cracking morning drove through to babba's had a really nice trouble free ride in awesome weather Couple of ice cold beers after the race. Wife drove home so I could relax GREAT DAY!!
  2. @ R450 I would hope that it is (the one I saw at Cajee's)the big bottle you are refering to Giant what do you pay for the big bottle? Thats 112.50 per 2 wheel application and i think I paid R90 for the last bottle of slime I bought so when you put it that way its not a train smash price wise Can you get a smaller bottle to be more gentle on the wallet Giant how long do you leave the Stans before you change or top up?
  3. That was at Cajee's Fourways and that was just the bottle The kit was about R1100 if I remember correctly The bottle was bigger than the slime bottles so I assume it would do more than 2 wheels
  4. My bike came with Stans already in the tyres Saw the price of a bottle of stans this weekend R450 Pity as its done its done its job so far including Walkerville ,Military MTB and Diamond rush in past month all trouble free no punctures and instant sealing when thorns removed post race. But that price if correct is very very expensive
  5. Sorry for hijack At 42 theoretically my max heart rate should be around 178 (220-age) At top of last climb at Goldrush this weekend I peaked at 183 so would I be right to take this as my max heart rate (as I didnt die) well almost did Then my ave heart rate for the race was 171 which means I was running in the 90-100% zone for the race I have only been riding just over 3 months so my fitness still needs improving is riding at this level going to help me in the long run or should I ease off a bit? When on my normal training rides I will ave in the region of 155 to 160 which is around 85% Thanks
  6. Thanks rad
  7. Small cut and then patch?
  8. Those are presta valves and probably solid ones Just check them carefully to see as with some you can unscrew them if you look carefully to see if they are 2 piece but you will prob see the valve stem is a solid moulding so you wont be to add slime to those tubes. I had the same problem so I bought 2 new presta slime tubes (these have the slime already added) and used my 2 original tubes as my carry spares They will cost you in the region of about 85 rand each its far easier than trying to find tubes with 2 piece presta valves then buying the slime then trying to get it into that tiny valve
  9. I am pretty sure it will be too big I am 1.76 and the friend I ride with is maybe a cm or 2 taller His Nabraska is a medium as is my Dakota My inside leg is 79cm according to my pants
  10. What colour is stans? When I got my bike I was told it had stans already in the tyres I pulled out a large thorn on Sunday after Walkerville and there was a quick hiss and a tiny bit of white sealant just wondering if the white sealant is stans because of how well it sealed
  11. I collected 3 entries on Friday we all got bottles snacks gel/goo one other additive? nice cyclenewspaper etc and 3 not 2 cable ties ? pamphlets My official time was within 50 seconds of my personal comp time so cant complain there Rather swopped my goodie bag to have that wind as a tail wind for the race
  12. This could get interesting

I cant really give you much valuable feedback because I can only compare it to my hardtail and its a dream over the rough stuff and corrugation the landings are smooth it really handles well but its a unfair comparison It seems a very solid frame I couldn't fault it but I didnt ride flat out as I like to take it easy on first couple of rides also I dont have the experience to feedback on frame stiffness all I can say is it feels solid if that helps?

I just bought one got it on Saturday I have only done 60km's on the bike but I cant fault it Its my first soft tail so cant compare it to anything except the Dakota Hardtail I was riding before Big diff is the shifting is very quick and precise esp front cogs I am really impressed with the shifters and shifting The RP2 feels really good only used pro pedal once found so far I can do what I want with the shock open this may change when I really ride the bike harder The Recon feels good up front Brakes are ok but I have not hammered them as I want to bed them in nicely I know its new and maybe once the novelty wears off there may be things I dont like but so far it has exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with it. The mens health team just rode the Epic on the Mercury 2 with no problems so if it can do the epic think it will handle just about anything I also got a good deal and when I look at the spec I got for my money it was a great buy
  18. Hi all Coming back from Northcliff there was a large group of MTB's riding through Fairlands towards Weltevreden Park at about 7-45 this morning Are any hubbers in this group or know who organises these rides and if so where do you guys meet and leave from and could I join in on these rides? 23. Get ready to sigh http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11331 Maybe the above might work
  24. When we saw the size of the field I thought we might have a bit of congestion. Unfortunately we were in the group that got sent the wrong way and ended up at the back when the single track started it was so frustrating to spend 45 mins walking rideable single track that looked really good I know the organisers put a huge amount of work in but to send us the wrong way really did spoil alot of the ride with the resultant backlog On the plus side parking was easy the parts we rode were really good and our 30 k ride ended up at 36.12 so we got 6k's for free oh yes the jelly babies were nice after the last climb just before the finish Is it not possible to stagger the starts to try cut down on the congestion?
  25. I need to buy a pump for my suspension (foxRP2/Recon SL air) Any recomendations I saw a Topeak pocket shock DXG on the web that had good reviews any one tried it and if not what is available locally that wont break the bank Thanks Crashercrasher2009-06-13 04:43:43
