  1. I been riding my XT's for nearly a year and they run as true as day one despite my crap line choice very good wheels and for that money a steal you cant go wrong
  2. I need a new pair of shoes Are the dragons worth the money and is there a advantage in power transfer etc with the carbon soles. I tried a pair on today and the fit is really excellent and I like the fastening design of the shoe They are amazingly stiff compared to my cheapies I have been using but I cant say I would like to do much pushing or walking in them(I know I must ride not push!!) I dont mind spending the money as I think a good set of shoes is a good investment and an important part of your gear. I fly to the UK on Tuesday so its a great oportunity to be able to buy a pair at a more realistic price Any thoughts or feedback on these shoes from guys using them. Thanks
  3. Dont worry about the strap its actually very good sits alot nicer than my Polar I wear the polar to spinning and the Garmin on rides dont even feel the Garmin very nice strap in my opinion
  4. Brad you seem to have a talent for breaking stuff
  5. Very impressed with my 500 no data issue's and everything reads correctly I have not updated to the latest firmware as its working perfect As Andy249 says the screen set up options are excellent so nice to be able to have screens showing combinations of data you want to see Its a very user friendly and easy to install and set up unit
  6. I have not updated to the latest firmware as my unit is working perfectly all my data is good and have not lost anything so as long as that continues I see no point in upgrading as I strongly believe if it is not broke dont try and fix it. I am just using garmin connect and trainer at the moment to review data I am in the process of mapping our sunday rides as we want to combine some parts of our diff routes to make a 100km set ride once I have the routes then I will get a bit more involved with the software side of things as will need to create and upload the ride
  7. Batt life looks good on the 500 after 8 hours and 4 min it had only used 41% of the battery life so 18hours plus on a single charge as claimed looks to be possible
  8. You will eventually go tubeless so might as well do it now
  9. Yes easy to use 1 button to scroll options and 1 to reset Easy to fit and set up as well
  10. I have a Sigma DTS very good has given no hassles been through lots of water etc
  11. Cradle quest last year had individual riders not sure if you can do it this year as an individual ?
  12. I like your thinking Konaman makes great sense and as you say with the infrastructure in place maybe they could make it a bit more affordable Agree keep distances the same and I dont see the harm in maybe having an extra hour each day to finish in
  13. Glad to see its filling up looking forward to this one
  14. CWC were advertising XT's per set for 2800 a week ago for the price they would be hard to beat and would be good for both app's
  15. yes also entered this last week there were only 39 entries at that time
  16. Edge 500
  17. Got mine about 3 weeks ago paid CRC less than 2200 for the 500 bundle had to pay vat at post office was about 300 rand and shipping was about 120 rand Total cost all in say 2620 Just looked on their site Its 2157.11 now (10% discount) Shipping 110.26 Vat at postoffice will be 302 rand plus 12 rand fee look at total cost about 2582 if you ordered today
  18. Edge 500 will do everything you want mounting and set up very easy very user friendly can customise your display with the data you want to see garmin connect and garmin training are easy to use to view your data Dont have to replace the battery!! At about 2600 from CRC its a great deal I really dont think you would regret the 500
  19. maddox have not had my 500 very long but so far cant fault it I am very very impressed with it very user friendly and easy to set up love the flexibility of being able to customise 3 seperate data screens with the info you want to see So far I cant say anything bad about it have not tested battery life but the guide claims 18 hours on a single charge Bracket works well and with the rubber back pad and bands it looks like it should be trouble free comes with a extra mount as well and enough bands to last forever
  20. I think its one of the best things I have ever bought so easy to use data ranges are great and Garmin connect is great to look at your ride and routes very very impressed with it you wont be dissappointed
  21. CRC
  22. Had a Sigma DTs 1106 wireless no problems on the MTB in all conditions (R800) My son has had the standard Sigma 1106 with a wire still perfect (R300) Got to agree with spinnekop though the Garmin 500 is great value for money very happy with mine so far (R2600 incl of HR and cadence)
  23. Got my 500 on Friday What a user friendly easy to set up easy to use piece of kit Cant belive a device giving me so much data is so user friendly very impressed. I had been saving for the 705 really impressed with this 500 does everything I wanted for half the price I have done 3 rides and evrything works spot on ascent /descent cadence whole package is faultless so far
  24. Hi cat-i Solomons have the SRAM XO RD advertised on special in their latest flyer for R999.95 last time I looked they were about 1350 at CRC so you might be to save a bit there and get it quicker As above with 3 blade crank I would go for the long cage Cheers Crasher
