  1. lol. dis piss cool.
  2. Hey Sampie, Rock Shox Reba has a thing built in, and the experts could probably clarify it a bit more, but: When locked out, it's locked out obviously, but it does still compress, especially if you were to hit a big rock, it will still do suspension stuff. I think it's the Motion Control technology. It's a feature, not a bug! But, if you feel it's wrong, take it in to your LBS and ask them, perhaps they will tell you the same as me, or, if there is something weird, they should solve it!
  3. Buy an iphone.
  4. I don't know about rebuilding or replacing, guess I just haven't reached that point yet. lol. I have had both the Candy and eggbeaters, and while I enjoyed both, I LOVE my eggbeaters. The candy gave me some hassles (but could be cause my cleats were set up wrong?) , but never enough for me to dislike them. But, i like my eggbeaters.
  5. I have a specialized xc pro, and it came with the Reba. My thumbs up for the Reba. Don't really know any other forks, but its been cool to me!
  6. Gt for sure.
  7. dirt-rider, did almost three weeks of research into the brand I wanted to buy, and what I could get for the coin. Was always going to use the LBS in question as I have always bought my bikes there, always supported them and never had issues with them before. Until I purchased this bike. Even though it is a manufacturer issue, they are handling it really badly, no calls, no updates NOTHING. Even while this nastiness was happening I supported them, was patient and supportive. I never said the bike I bought was useless, well... I am... Lol. But that's because the one I bought is defective, not because the brand is sh*tty, or any of the other ones are bad. It's just broken, and yes, I feel I am well within my rights to want to have it fixed and working, especially if I have only been able to actually ride it a few times. How is this me being stupid? Or a brain surgeon? Do I just have to suck it up? Just accept that it's how I am going to be treated, and like it? Really?
  8. It's not always the LBS though, in my case it was them as well, but it's also the actual brands that just don't give a ... I brought a brand new specialized duallie, and to this day (2 months) it's only been on one race and dirt. Only done about 100kms, and has literally been in the shop more than in my posession. It was sent back to specialized only after the 4th time it was sent in, and then staid there for two weeks, got sent back to us, and now have to go back there again for another two weeks. Who do you hate here? the brand? or the shop? or both perhaps? Haven't seen my bike since Sabie Classic. No phone calls with updates, nothing. everytime we have to call them or go in and ask.
  9. I'm not entirely sure. I think you can get a similarly specced bike New, for like a grand more. you will have to ask more experienced guys than me mate.
  10. I weigh 90kgs and going up!! ( i am 2m tall and gaining muscles en fitness!) Carbon bikes should not be a problem for you mate.
  11. I won it too, but I couldn't go due to work deadline
  12. I just someone who does what they need to and tell me they will do. little things like actually phoning me back when they say they would, or actually fixing my bike, and not give me a different answer time after time for the same problem.
  13. Can't we just speak to companies like Tracker, and have them install a tracker? Like AdriFerari said. I think that's a brilliant idea. Get a helicopter on that thieve's ass!!!

  15. meh, we only leaving pretoria tonight... still though, its going to be awesome!
  16. you guys are awesome. thanks. techguy, i meant with the new bike that is it something that needs to be ridden in, and will go away. Because that's what I have been told.
  17. thanks guys, yeah I'm not an attitude guy. i just dont get why a brand new brakeset would rub that badly. but thanks will take it in tommorow and ask them to have another look.
  18. Hey guys, I bought myself a brand new specialized xc pro, about three weeks ago, so it's still really new and stuff. It's not been ridden hard at all, mostly road and here and there a dirt road, and light singletrack. (work is keeping me away from Groenkloof ) From day one the brakes were rubbing on the discs, front and rear, badly, like if i spin the wheel it would almost immediately stop on it's own. I did try to fix this, with some help from you guys here on the hub, but it still rubbed, although much less. I decided to wait for the new week to take it in. Then the rear suspension started creaking, which wasn't too bad, just REALLY annoying. My rear brake developed a BAD metallicy sounding noise when i braked. I decided to not use that brake, as I don't want to mess up the bike within the first month lol. The front makes a noise on it's own, without braking, a shrill ping sound every now and then. i first thought it was a spoke, but it's definitely the disc. My question, is the brake issues I am having really just because they are new and need to be ridden in? They are Avid Juicy fours. My dad's new bike with shimano brakes never rubbed, no problems at all, which is why i'm skeptical. I find it weird to buy that brand new expensive brakes (well, expensive for me) would be like this. FPC told me this when i took it in. They were really helpful and nice, but it just seems odd. They said the creeking noise in my suspension was from my rear shock (fox triad II) being set up too hard (the guy at FPC when i bought it weighed me, then set it up for me. So he lowered the pressure, which made the bobbing more, but the creaked came back today. I REALLY don't want to cause a fight or something at FPC, as they gave me a nice discount on the bike, and have always been good to us, this is the second bike i bought there, and i always buy all my stuff there. And I REALLY REALLY don't want to go marching in there all ****, and then it turns out they are right and i look look and idiot. It's just that the bike was damn expensive for me, and I sort of want to get what I paid for. It rides like a dream, apart from those two issues. Can you guys maybe shed some light here? IS the brakes just because it's new giving me issues and rubbing like that? IS the rear shock just being normal, and all specialized bikes creak?
  19. I have been having nothing but issues from every single bike shop i have been to, when I bought my new bike. From people not wanting to order my 2010 version cuz they insist i take their 2009 stock, to other shops (a very large store actually) ignoring my requests, until after the 5th email asking replied with a snobbish "we dont have that brand..." (that was the full reply, word for word) even though their site says they do. Then i finally managed to get someone to sell me a bike, then they first order the wrong one, then tell me my size doesnt exist... it does... man im dissapointed in our Local Bike Shops at the moment... took me three weeks just to buy a bike, and i knew what i wanted, had the cash, and it was a lot of cash too... ended up going for a completely different bike just because the shop i went to last had it for me 3 days before they said they would, and actually gave me service...
  20. American Classic = Japanese? lol.
  21. thanks guys! will give it a try tonight when i get home!
  22. Hey guys, I bought myself a new bike, with avid juicy 4's. The pads are touching the discs on both wheels (neither can freely turn). Any links or reading material on how to fix this? I really don't want to take it to the shop, preferring to try and fix it myself first?
  23. Well, to be honest, after today I am going for neither. We ordered the felt, but the distributors delivered the wrong bike... which is no fault to the store, but man thats a bit off from the distributors. the specialized store, dont want to name them, dont want to order me a 2010 bike, cuz they insist on getting rid of their 2009 bikes. which i guess is fair, but im paying 20k for a bike, which to me is a lot of coin, and I want the bike that i want. i dont want to have to beg people just to do business with me... and these people know me, i have previously purchased bikes through them, and always went to them for my extras. wtf?
  24. I need to choose now between the - 2010 Specialized FSRxc PRO http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=45743&eid=4201&menuItemId=0&gold_ses= - Felt Virtue 2 http://www.feltbicycles.com/South-Africa/2010-Product-Catalog/Mountain/VIRTUE-Series/VIRTUE-2.aspx Anyone out there able to give me some real advice here? Both bikes are diferent LBS, and they both tell me theirs are best, obviously. What do you guys reckon?
