  1. Hardly apples and apples though. I imagine organizing a ride at everest is significantly more in every way than it is to organize a huge race in CT? I immediately think of insurance issues, etc etc etc. Plus housing would be way more involved than a red Absa tent? Not being a box, genuine question?
  2. same with their nobby nic folding tyres: http://www.rushsportscycling.com/Store/Buy/Schwalbe/Nobby-Nic-Folding-SS.aspx
  3. Just saw on http://www.rushsportscycling.com/ the price for a QR skewer set from Crank Brothers! R9,999.99 That HAS to be a typo on their site, or am I completely out of touch with new skewer technology?! http://www.rushsportscycling.com/Store/Buy/Crank-Brothers/DUPLICATE-Split-Skewer-Set.aspx LOL! I did notify them, not sure whether it went through though.
  4. I love my sram. Basically only one set it up once, works like a charm. Shifting get's a bit rough every now and again, then I just clean and relube, and all is well again. love it.
  5. I read somewhere a while back that Cannondale has no weight limit on their frames. Maybe worth checking it out?
  6. That is awesome news!
  7. I recently went for a ride, and climbing up Rigel avenue I bonked badly. I also use 32gi (took a while for my body to get used to it, but it's awesome now), and had water and everything. Was also early in the ride (about 15km in). Turns out, the breakfast I skipped that morning made it happen. I pushed on to the next garage woollies, had a sandwich, and a powerade, and I was fine again. Seems food plays a more important role than we think it does.
  8. Just got a mail from Full Performance Cycles, and they told me that they are the new FPC? How did this happen? I always enjoyed FPC, they gave me GREAT service and always went the extra miles. I am sure that Full Performance cycles will be the same, but it makes me wonder why the original FPC changed name and owners? Meh?
  9. Saw this earlier. How CRAZY is that?!? yoh!
  10. On my MTB I had an issue where one of my brake pads were slightly rubbing on my rotor. Big downhill, touch my front brake and the bike would become uncontrollable from wobbling. SERIOUSLY scary. It messes with your head big time. Can't help with your issues, but I know how you feel. Perhaps take it to your LBS and ask them? Good luck dude.
  11. Is it just me, but that shot angle makes that big look TINY! Almost like a toy! Nice looking bike though.
  12. Cool idea. I might have stuff for you. Will speak to my dad tonight.
  13. jis guys. Why are we having this conversation? I was working myself into excitement for a Groenkloof ride this weekend, and now, I think, another spinning session would be more preferable. *sidder* I DESPISE snakes. nee man. sies.
  14. There is an awesome singletrack next to the moloto road. Bit of a mission to find it at first, but it's there. Quite a few metres from the actual road. At the railroad you cross moloto and climb onto the train track service road which is a dirt road in great condition! At some stage you come out on another road with a very wide dirt shoulder, and then the cullinan road which also has a lekker dirt shoulder to ride on.
  15. http://maps.google.com/?q=http://share.abvio.com/36ff/1c9e/4d1b/0baa/Cyclemeter-Cycle-20110425-0733.kml <-- The route I usually ride. Like I said, there is lot's of options though
  16. Hey man, we don't ride there too often, but there is a lekker ride direction roodeplaat, pretty much singletrack much of the way until the railroad, then you turn right onto the service road, and eventually you do a bit on the tracks itself over a big bridge. I live in Waverley, and it's roughly a 40km trip we do. You can extend it of course! I will quickly go look for my gps map if I can find it.
  17. Western Union is bad news. The classifieds industry HATES it, it's usually always a scam. Be real careful mate.
  18. DO WANT!
  19. Hey, good luck with your site! Some issues from my side: Your header is WAY too big. Considering the actual information displayed in it (logo and name) there is no need for it to be that big. I generally stick to strict 100 - 150 pixel hight. Keep in mind that you are sacrificing a lot of screen real estate to show your logo, where you could be using that space to show and promote the content you want people to buy Try to up the quality of the logo and name imagery. It's pixelated and looks a bit low budget. This makes a huge impact on how your site is perceived. If you can get your main navigation and search bar into the same line (float the search bar to the right) then you will save some space too, and use the space you have a bit more efficiently. When I go look at the Ellsworth bike, there is no price displayed, and I have to click on the pricing chart. When that opens all I see is the sizes. Only later did i realise i have to scroll horizontally to see the price. Remember, always consider your site users to be stupid (it's the foundation of usability) Lastly, insert a link back to the homepage (or alternatively make your header link back) Really frustrating not being able to go back to where I was, and the browser's back button is not a good way to have to do it. Again, good luck with your site mate! Man I really want that Ellsworth, but no budget!!!
  20. I really hope Gee pulls through for a win this round. Would be awesome if he catches up to Greg again on points, and another nailbiting finals!
  21. I dunno, My previous bike which was more XC orientated felt much better on the climbs than my current more trail orientated bike. Of course all the fitness related stuff apply, but I was much less fit on my previous bike than I am now! So yeah I guess there are some factors in bike design / weight / etc that make one bike climb better than the other. Of course it's also true for going down, my current bike blasts downhill where my previous bike used to suck.
  22. Interesting talk. My main issues are also in my head. I'm quite tall (2m), and when i try smallish jumps the bike just does weird things below me, almost always making me almost crash. My bike does tend to throw me over, so i usually end up with a rear wheel in the air (not fun). This of course kills confidence. Then, I have the pedal dillemma. I like the stability of clip in pedals, but this in turns scares me on the really rough stuff, where i would prefer to be able to move my feet around. But on platform pedals, I get scared my feet lift off the pedals and i crash out. Dalk is ek net effing bang.
  23. To be honest I don't have much experience riding in cycle parks and trails other than Groenkloof, so I guess my opinion don't carry that much weight. But, wen't riding at Teak's place for the first time yesterday and boy, what an experience! In my mind it beats groenkloof hands down! I had so much fun there yesterday, even after taking a dive into the dam when my bike slid out underneath me. The trails were fun, a joy to ride one. The amenities at the end, the bike stands, bike wash and restaurant was just pure win. So fun to just chill after a ride and have a beer and a sandwich and sharing war stories (like my dive into the dam after failing to keep my bike straight on that bridge!) It's a pity though that it's so far from Pretoria. Makes it a mission to go there, but will try to make a monthly trip!
  24. Thanks guys, will try out the lube thing this afternoon before I go ride. You guys are awesome.
