1. I have learnt today that the Universe gives us more than one option at a time, and its your choice which one to take, example the mud or the dry path ? the dry path might seem safer, but you don?t see the huge bolder hidden in the path. You make the choice ? you have to live with it. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
2. Rietvlei kicks ass, went there this morning and am very impressed, great single tracks you guys hacked out of the Black Wattle and the mud made me cycle sideways ? which was a first for me? heehaw. Thank you for all the hard work you?ve put into making it a great ride. Can?t wait for the 24 hours race. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> thehermanator2009-10-31 07:20:10
3. Sorry to hear hope everything gets replaced very quickly.
4. Nope, the one on 7de Laan. No Mark is referring to Finish Line in Kempton Park - oops too late I see. thehermanator2009-10-21 06:00:44
5. If I think of the same guys then yes, they are usually at events with their VW Caddy and nice setup to do some quick adjustments and fixes. If it is them then yes I recommend them, at least they know what they doing and they have great enthusiasm for this sort of thing. They are just so damn far out of my way, thats all. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
6. I did yes' date=' and the usual story is that its someone who was to blame, those people disappear so you can not even get the real truth. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Mampara now you tell me, these guys came highly recommended by a lot of people on the Hub?? [/quote'] Hermie, you took advice from someone on the Hub? Silly, silly person. But I trust the whole lot of you for example I will never, ever take my bike back to Westdene Cycles again - once again a recommendation from people on the Hub.

8. I am not happy about Westdene cycles, ok let me start off by saying' not their workmanship (I did not get to that part yet) so lets ignore that part for now. Here is what happened. I took my bike in for a major service on Monday, I explicitly asked the salesman to call me if there might be anything extra than the service because I only work with cash. He agreed and told me my bike will be ready by yesterday afternoon at 4. I decided to wait for today to go fetch it. So I popped in there just after 9. Waited for 30min but still no bike, I asked them what is going on and a salesman explained to me that the rear hub bearings needs replacing ? they already ordered it. Once again no communication about extra costs or work. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> So a bit ticked off, off I went to fetch more money. Knowing now how much it will cost. They also promised me that the bike will be fixed in 30 minutes, I called them before going back and they said to come back because the bike will be ready. I waited an extra 45 minutes before they brought my bike back. Then surprise, surprise, they replaced a cable and a tube, once again without telling me. Come on this bike shop came highly recommended they suppose to be great!!! Surely it?s not about the service of the bike itself, but how you as a client are treated? Following some instructions as requested from your clients its not rocket science. This is not a once off deal, I want to establish a decent relationship with my LBS, but how can I if they just don?t give a damn about what I request? So this means I once again have to go find another LBS and hope they don?t mess this up. Because I sure ain't going back there again.
9. Well done but please do not listern to hip-hop while riding, that will just be wrong, wrong, wrong
10. All in the name of researh
11. This morning at 5:40 I stood waiting for the traffic lights at the intersection of <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Loch and Jan Smuts Ave in Parktown. A group of riders came down Jan Smuts towards Braamfontein, most of them manage to cross while the light was still green, but 3 riders rode over the red traffic light and I must say they were not very brightly dressed and not merely enough flashing lights in my opinion to make them visible. Ask yourself if another motorist who is not observant would have ploughed into you, and one of your mates have to go tell your family what happened? Come on don?t be freaking cowboys and skip traffic light where you clearly know that it?s dangerous. I am all for skipping lights if it?s safe to do so, but this morning it was just plain stupid. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
12. the chicken. On the other side there are more single track just watch our for the naughty rocks hiding in the path which has a tendency to destroy your pedals, and those nasty looking thorn bushes, if it scratches you it itch like hell and take forever to heal, and then there is the cow Sh!t. But great riding ? anyway, saw a chicken there once and it tried to cross over the road ? again. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
13. A good idea is to have cycling shirts with the word ?HELLO? printed on it. I also greet, but I get peed off if I see these Yuppies not even grunting. I then ignore everyone. So I if I am cycling at NF and look like a Yuppie cyclist that don?t greet I apologise. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
14. Thank you, good to know that there are some other options out there, and now I know there are more than one. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
15.
How is this for being between a rock and a hard place' date=' my nearest other LBS is Cajees ? you catch my drift? [/quote']Then consider this a perfect opportunity to learn how to service and repair your own bike! My work has me on short-time and the two closest bikes shops are expensive and don't know much more than I do... so I now do my own work... this weekend I learnt to re-build my wheel... far better than the bike shop would've. so, i assume you're in bedforview, kensington area...why not take a trip further east. some decent shops out that way? Bingo!! I know of only one other shop which is the one at Rietvlei - at least one I might trust doing some work on my bike. Any other ones you might recommend? Servicing my own things is a good option, but there are certain things I would not dare touching yet. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

18. I discovered after 5 months of riding that my chain got stretched to the extend that I need to replace my cassette too, but not sure what cassettes will be compatible for my Giant Anthem X1, any suggestions please. And is it true that I have to replace the cassette every time I have to replace the chain? Wow that?s a big expense over and above the normal service and other things that needs replacing every now and then. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> thehermanator2009-09-28 03:16:03
