The only pill that really works the best is a black pill with white stripes, aka the road.

What tyres do you have,. I have gatorskins and although the sidewall recommended pressure is 8.5 i pump mine 9 bar, slightly more bumpy ride but way better protection against punctures.

A late entry will have you slotted at the back no matter what your index is. The orgs cannot slot late entries into seeded batches as they have already allocated the numbers per batch, its ok to slip in a few riders but what would happen if a sizable number of riders that fall in a seeded group suddenly enter. The seeding ladder also can only be updated when the event orgs sign off the results as correct.

My experience watching CSA officials in action is they are there at the start to monitor the Lic groups off, monitor them on the road, then check their finish times and positions, then....they disappear and leave the open groups to the event orgs to monitor and control. Nothing really wrong with it but their main focus is lic groups, they can not claim to be there for everyone and still pocket a % of all the race entry fees including all the temp lic costs.

Also Check the tyre itself to see if the wire bead is still ok and not damaged. I once bought a new tyre and had similar thing happen, took it back to the shop and they swopped it out.

Pity it clashes with the Dunblane MTB race, would have loved to go watch.
