    Argus crashes

This puts us right back to the question, where must the organizers find the place to slot in the increased albeit smaller batches. Limit the entry down from 35000 ?, have the back end'rs start later ? Have riders qualify to enter (Comrades and 2 oceans) ?
  3. Still contemplating
  4. Running would be difficult as you don't have pockets to put the empty water packets into. I've manned WP and i don't mind the runner/cyclist throwing their water packets, empty cups, goo wrappers down at or near the WP, its when they take it and throw it 2 to 3km away that gets to me.
  5. Eish, i'm gonna get more popcorn and coke.

  7. Cool pics I have done 10 but when i finally do my 11th Argus this is how i want to do it.
  8. Didn't the Cape also host the nekked ride recently.
  9. More groups containing less riders will push the start time for the later groups closer to midday. Currently there is a 3 min gap, reducing this will also lead to problems.

3 Mins, so we reduce it to 2 then and have more batches, problem i see is if the batch behind catches the one in front there will be a %^&* big bunch, 3 mins is not ideal but its a compromise. Suggestion is the %Ladies will also have their own as well with perhaps a max of 50 ladies. Where do you suggest the ladies get slotted, after the open men A, B, C ?? so that they are not caught. If they are caught (very possible) we can then moan about them being slow and having a tea party. I would also hate to be the CSA marshal that tries to ensure the ladies do not use the men to slip. Yesterday from watching the TV i could see no bunch that caught the Vets bunch with the ladies in.

I'm sure if you work something out where 35000 cyclists can be slotted into manageable sizable groups with decent gaps between and able to get off early enough so as to not start too late the org's would welcome it.

Looking at the results there were only 32 ladies in the Elite ladies group , that''s hardly enough to warrant a separate group. More bunches will increase start times, the later ones will be riding close to midday. Accidents will happen, from reports of yesterday it happened in elite men, vets, seeded open, unseeded open.

Argus 2012 appears to be a record crash year.

  19. Regards cabs it depends on good carbs, bad carbs. Makes interesting reading.

  21. I heard an interview with him on the radio discussing this. He's taking a lot of flak from dietitians and nutritionists but backed his view up with other established scientists views and findings.
  22. Perhaps, but imagine trying to arrange 3 races within the same month in the North/West Johannesburg. Methinks the villagers will riot.
  23. R300 might seem a lot but as mentioned its full road closure and that does not come cheap. The Metro council demands their cut and you can bet they have increased their costs this year.
  24. Mine also stopped working on my indoor trainer few weeks back. Unit recognizes there is a cadence/speed sensor but when you pedal both the speed and cadence don't display, mine could be the battery in the cadence unit as its still the original.
