  1. Alan Robb used to have steak, egg and chips washed down with beer the night before running the comrades and go on to win.
  2. Just dont get tested after the race
  3. Its no use over dosing yourself with Vitc and other stuff, your body will only flush it out. You can relieve the sysmtoms such as runny nose and sore throat but your body has to fight it. As suggested visit the doc and get their advice and I'm sure if you rest a few days you should be ok.
  4. + 1 for Solomons, The shop can get busy and forget at times their promises to phone you back if they are out of stock but i find their prices favorable compared to other LBS and items cheaper than CWC and they will even fit items such as cassettes and cranks if you ask them.
  5. Cant defend what the guys in the 1st pic are doing, road might look quiet but if a large truck approaches it will be a problem. The guys in the 2nd pic are ok, i usually do cycle in the yellow lane (legal or not)but there is enough space for a vehicle to move safely around.
  6. I doubt if there is one bike shop that has not had something go wrong. I have had the most awesome service from a LBS where they built a new wheel for me overnight, only to have the same bike shop get it wrong a few weeks later with my crank. Give them the opportunity to make right and its how they deal with this opportunity that will have me return.
  7. +1 Give that man a bells.
  8. That would be great, i also have a cable that allows charging and use together.
  9. Appears numerous error were made, from bike assembly to bike fit. Its one gripe i have with bike shops, when selling a bike very seldom do they go through the do's and donts, had they done this and explained things like tyre and shock pressure they would have relaized that they had not done so themselves. Still its best to speak to the bike shop, if not sorted then make noise.
  10. That will help wonders for endurance riding, my nokia does not last if i switch it to Sportypal. If only Garmin could come up with a similar thing.
  11. Frosty got it right regards starting bunches, the lead groups of the bunches finished in the order they started. Had they started according to how CSA originally wanted it there would have been serious overlaps particulary with C4 and AL group.
  12. Phil's commentry, he came across as someone that did his homework on all the riders and knew their history. The orgs for getting it right after the shambles of day 2. Watching the numerous breaks albeit most came to nought.
  13. Saint Sports in Boksburg
  14. I use the Specialized slime tubes, works well for me.
  15. Appears to have gone far better today
  16. Time and place for eveything, time and place.
  17. Last year there was a hubber (icecream bicycle guy) who was selling Assos Bibs for a very good price, very comfy and wish i had bought more than 1. Cape Storm are also comfy but i find the stitching came loose on both pairs fairly soon.
  18. No more bickering from me. New day, new chapter Lets hope it goes well
  19. We do a pretty decent job with the 94.7.
  20. I hope the PE section and the rest of the tour goes well, there is a lot of focus local and international on the tour so if there are any more problems it will look bleak for future tours. Best of luck
  21. Regards holding it so close to Sandton, Formuala 1 trials were run as a showcase through the center of Sandton on a weekday, full road closure on roads. This shows it can be done and the disruption to traffic was far more than what this cycle race would have been.
  22. You can check your group start times here https://secure.supersport.co.za/cyclelab/membersearch/search/EntrantInfo_SearchMember.asp
  23. I'm sure you'll do fine Shanster, just be aware the route on the R23 from the R550 join is shared by the long and medium distance riders so try keep as far left as you can, Look for the big tent top look alike that covers Carnival city and you're home.
  24. Nothing in the Star Even the results page only has the Tour Oman.
  25. Its flattish but don't underestimate the race, after the fast downhill into Heidelberg its undulating from then on and if you've over done it you could find yourself battling the section on the R23 back to the start, unlike the R4S you finish on a slight uphill.
