  1. The rims are Stans Does that count ? Been a while since Oliver made an appearance
  2. Mine came standard with 2.25 racing ralphs, have not gone the clueless tubeless route so i have them pumped to 2.5 - 3 bar and at 13.25kg i found the bike light so added slime and tyre liners for extra weight. On gravel, pavement the bike handles well but I have no idea how it rides on real rocky surfaces yet.
  3. The TDF inspired Freddie Mercury, to write the song "Bicycle Race"
  4. For R9000 if you looking at Silverback why not go for the Spectra, higher specced .
  5. That bike is stunning, I have the Spectara and Modanine.
  6. Have a look at www.obike.co.za they have a few decent bikes in that range, Silverback are also good value for money, for around R8000 you should be able to get the Spectra (Mix SLX/XT, RS Recon Gold shock) http://www.silverbacklab.com
  7. LoL BB , nice Niner your boet had at the race.
  8. Ditto, my CSA lic number and SAS lic number are the same.
  9. I had no problems with the 40k route, where there was a split the correct route option was marked.
  10. You should be able to get the Silverback Modanine for around R16000, check the Silverback website out for specs but with mix XT/SLX, stans ZTR wheels, Reba fork and fox rear shock its difficult to beat value for money. I have the XL and was quite surprised with the how light it weighed and can quite easily be made still lighter. A web search on the frame brings up no issues with them.
  11. I struggle to get my HR up when spinning, the instructor keeps telling me to ride 80% plus HR at times and although i'm about to fall off the bike with exhaustion i cannot seem to get near it. On the road its the complete opposite
  12. I was last at the Paulshof branch when Grant was manager, will pop in again sometime next week.

    2012 XT

    Gets a nod from me
  14. There are Jhb shops that go the extra mile, i took my MTB wheel in for a split rim at 5pm on a Friday, expecting it back only Monday and canceling any thoughts i had of riding the weekend, i got a call early sat morning my wheel had been rebuilt onto new rim and was ready to collect.
  15. Yup, its not the dogs fault.
  16. Angle looks similiar to Gary Fishers.
  17. When dogs do this i find a smack on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and a firm "bad boy" usually works on the owner.
  18. +1 Nuff said
  19. Everytime a blue rinse granny on shopping bike passes me in a race.
  20. Never had a bike serviced by them but have been there a number of times, prices are reasonable compared to other LBS, some part more expensive, some not. I inquired about a bike price once but was told the advertised price is what it is which is fair enough as i was not a known customer and unlikely to be repeat business.
  21. Better, still not 100% though.
  22. Used to have them on my previous MTB, not on my current one and cant say i miss them.
  23. I only use mine when i do spinning to monitor how hard or easy i'm going. On the bike i rarely use it.
