  2. The blonde presenter was nice And she rides a MTB
  3. Ah so you talking about motorist AND cyclist obeying the law, that clears it up. Pity about the 4 way stop. You should have been more vocal and insisted we obey that rule, It was the ride out to Magaliesberg, and from what ir recall we were quite a big group so perhaps its was more practical NOT to stop at white line, go, next rider stop at white line go, next rider stop at white line go, and repeat untill riders were through.
  4. Really ?? I was traveling in a staight line obeying the trafic rules when POW a furniture van side swiped me Really ?? 2) I was cycling legaly in a race when i T boned a car which ignored both the red light and the marshal.
  5. Slowpoke, i did a ride with you, yes we stopped at ALL red robots, NO we (including you) did not use the 4 way stop according to road legislation.
  6. Good thought, maybe also apply to the current goverment then.
  7. I'm sure i recall this topic being discussed before. I read an article a while back that most accidents at intersections in the UK with robots occur with females, Why? well females are more prone to adhere to the law and stop if robot is red, whereas males will slow down and if safe roll through ie use it as a yield sign. Females are knocked down by dozy drivers turning in front of them, , not indicating and ramming them from behind, but at least they obeying the law. Here's a thought, when riding in a group and approach a 4 way stop sign, do you file up single file and go through on the basis of each one stopping at the white line and each allowing other cars to ride through in order on a 1st to white line order, thats the law but practically it would make sense to go through as one single group even if riding single file as i would hate to be the poor drivers stuck there.
  8. There is no verification of race entry to chip so you can even get an official finish time without entering the race.
  9. I like
  10. If you receive your number at the begining of the year how would you move up/down the seeding ladder which indicates your batch start. Some riders starting out are capable of improving in leaps and bounds, it would be unfair for them to wait a whole year to get resseded. The orgs judge the sizes the groups will be by the pre entries, without indications you will have 20kh cyclists mixed with 45+ cyclists...eish.
  11. Someone already covered this before in a another thread, they received the exact same email.
  12. Some street in Glenvista, not sure the name, first time i've ridden it. I was too busy standing on the pedals trying to move forwards so as not to fall down, Linksfiled ridge is a toughie and longer but this while shorter is a mother.
  13. If you really want to prepare yourself, for hills do this climb we did yesterday
  14. .
  15. Yes, appears park official are allowed to ride whatever direction they want even in non emergency. I recall the accident earlier was not a parks official but a contractor working in the reserve. Something else to watch out for is large game, a few riders have been knocked off their bikes.
  16. Havent seen anything posted, maybe she belonged to one of the Edenvale clubs.
  17. If Dimitri and Wendell can arrange something similiar for the 24hr it will be a sellout
  18. Stick to the route direction Dont litter Watch out for loose stones (speak from experience here as i had a front wheel blow out on one of the sharp declines) Dont relieve yourself in the bush Obey the parks officials and rules And Dont try sneak any animals out the reserve, they do check you car and boot.
  19. I never use my HRM in a race, my legs dicate if and when i am able to wheelsuck.
  20. I'm not up to doing a full 2nd lap, so i sometimes do the 1 full lap then go up the short 2km climb and turn right and do a 2nd short lap.
  21. Some time start from the bottom of the climb after the cattle grid, my SBR time starts and ends in the car park, might be only a couple of meters but i'm still peddaling.
  22. My best is 2.35 and i've done a 3.08 94.7.
