  1. Stocking up on pizza, popcorn and coke.
  2. A popcorn thread
  3. Reading whats emerging, if Cyclelab were stubborn and dismissed her initial complaint with comptempt then she has a point.
  4. That would make it a negative positive
  5. Methinks she protests too much, a mere apology and free tube should suffice.
  6. Sure does, i learnt this last year where i donated blood a few days before the Kremertart and hit the wall hard, worst cramps i've had.
  7. Long distances of cyle lane is not really required merely links between the suburbs and city centers the distance is small so not really conducive to training, i alternate my route to and from the N1 along Malibongwe and William Nichol which feeds traffic from the the suburbs out that way plus there are schools along the way which can easily become cyclist commute friendly.
  8. Nice to hear Shaun i applaud her effort but IMO planning for designated cycle paths is small to zero as far as traffic planning goes, its seen as spending capital for very little return. When the SWC was lobbied I recall reading one of the selling points was upgrading Gauteng roads to include such paths but zero has been done. We are way behind Cape Town, Durban etc and while Pta has some paths these are not maintained.
  9. CSA (scratch) CGC (scratch)... Nope nobody
  10. Any donation will do, small ones tally up to the cost of erecting a full sign.
  11. Ja' date=' and cow sh.t flies really well when your front wheel goes into some! Know when to keep your mouth shut![/quote'] It is afterall just digested grass
  12. Brown stuff is not always mud.

    Garmin 705

No issues with mapping so far and it has helped me out quite often when riding unknown routes. To get more info to compare the pro's and cons with other devices do a google search along the lines of Garmin vs Polar/Suunato etc,

    Garmin 705

Great device, some consider it to be just an expensive toy. PC link is easy and besides Garmins own s/w the info can also be loaded onto 3rd party s/w such as Sporttracker, can also be used with power meter and i find it works well on indoor trainer using cadence sensor. Only negative is battery life is limited to about 15 hours, bike clip can be an issue and calorie count is not calculated on HR but rather on distance/time.
  16. Use your judgement, if they have a gun i would oblige as these guys are already hyped and any move they consider a threat they will shoot, anything else such as a knife or stick i will use whatever means including using my bike to defend myself.
  17. Interesting if not comical scenario, rider gets stopped by a armed thug with gun leveled at him, rider says hang on a minute, reaches into his back pocket and pulls out pepper spray then attempts to spay thug. Any guesses as to outcome ??
  18. Motorists suck, throw rocks at them.
  19. All the above, well most of the above.
  20. BigH better signage is needed i will also contribute as it is lacking in places, 1st time riding Suikerbos i missed the signs and also went wrong way. IMO whats needed is a reporting system where one can report both cyclist and drivers that disobey the signage.
  21. Signage will work for cyclists and visitors new to the reserve, it will do nothing for cyclists, officials and motorists who choose to ignore them.
  22. Emergency i can understand but by using the word patrol it will mean they can ride whichever direction they feel like, it will however back up what the official screamed at us along the lines of she works there, can ride wherever she likes and does not need us to tell her.
  23. Good initiative, we too have been involved in parks officials disobeying their own rules by traveling against direction down the sharp car park climb and when we pointed this out we were met with a verbal abuse.
  24. Bigben mentioned he's doing solo as well
