I saw the video and to me it looked more like an inquisitive giraffe following two goons around. The damage to the bike caused when one dropped it and the giraffe stepped on it in error rather than intent.

After a dusty MTB ride i just hose the bike down, then wipe clean with cloth and clean between the cassettes with pipe cleaners. leave in the sun for a while while i have a beer. Then lube the chain and shift up and down on the cassette range and put bike away. Then have another beer.

You should also be able to collect the morning of the race, i did last year.

What's holding me back ? I suck at swimming, cycling and running.

My Reba is locked from bar, last thing i want to do is fiddle with the lockout on the shock going over bumpy sections. But as Mojoman states, careful when tipping bike as the remote could get damaged.

I have remote lock on my HT and love it, sections not too bumpy i engage lock out and away i go.

Route has been same for last 5 years or so iv'e been riding it, don't think its going to change.

I would choose a wheel set with more spokes, Mavic Open's rims. Tyres will be Gator skins.

Replaced my bike brand saddle with Gobi Muzzle, at 255g not the lightest but comfortable.
