  1. They should get the same fine we get for cycling over stop streets and traffic lights.
  2. You migh complin about the price of their bikes, mind you , saw a Giant in Durbanville or R95k, so you get expensive bikes everywhere. If you care to look at the clothing and gear, you might find that in the Spez store you get good quality at good prices, I am referring to gloves, helmets, shoes, bibs, etc. Sure you will always find something cheaper and Sportsmans. People bou more everyday stuff and service bikes more often than buys new bikes.
  3. Also don't like the kit Did I miss the announcement that they won't be on Trek bikes? Looks like Cervelo logo on arms? Oops, this announcement has been made way back in July already
  4. Very surprised to see an average training time of 11 hours per week. Always thought that it should be a little more, heck, I though 11 hours should just be weekend riding.
  5. Great, thanks guys. Overthinking it again and did not even consider using a cable tie or something.
  6. I bought one of the normal magiclight/extreme lights type of bike light. Problem is the wire to the battery is uncomfortably wrong. Anybody with experience in shortening it? Feels like it should be easy ie. loosen wire on pc board inside the housing, cut shorter and solder back. Should it be that easy?
  7. Now there is a feel good story. Also nice to hear from someone else about how bad SAIDS is, referring back to BS.
  8. Also started with that yes, now it is a head cold, will probably last fr another day or two, luckily not flu
  9. Thanks for that. I agree with you. I am thinking of getting that and "upgrade" elements gradually to make it lighter, but needed to know how big a difference the weight of the frame is. Thanks for that It may be ugly, but geez you cannot beat that value, no matter how I think about it.
  10. These bikes are pretty much my choices as well. The Giant, according to me, is probably the best value for money. Maybe not 100% as good as the Vipa and RM, but good value. Only gripe I have with the Spez is the service of the brain shock. Do think it is a great bike, but that price on the service at regular intervals is a killer for me. My question is if anybody know the difference in weight of the Giant Anthem 29'er Carbon vs Alluxx frame?
  11. Heard lots of good things of them.
  12. Also use the Thule 9103 on my Opel Meriva, been using it for probably 5 years without hassles. I can see that something like that can happen when someone bump you from behind. The nice think about the Clip On is that you do not have hassles with side straps etc, so you are up and going in 2 minutes.
  13. This look quite nifty, and will not break your pocket. http://www.metzco.co.za/pepperspray.htm
  14. That might be a better option that the tazer. Some nice industrial velcro on the top tube and spray them when they try something, it should at least give you a chance of getting away?
  15. what about one of those hand held taizer type thingies? I have one of those and I am sure one can fit it to your frame with some velcro? that way you can have it on hand if you see the crap coming?
  16. I had some issues with a Catelli bib with stitching, called Paragon, no luck, unfortunately "common sense" tells me that is is basically impossible for a manufacturer to "take your word" for how you care for your clothes. If Catelli offered me a new pair and 50% discount I would have bee more than happy, unfortunately, with my newer Catelli's the problem still occur.
  17. I also got that impression.
  18. I think the local stores are very very competitive, once you calculate shipping and taxes, it comes down to the same thing, unless you probably buy a lot of components. Clothing gets expensive if you "import" Only thing that I can say is the variety, we are limited in what we can get here, so that is always nice to check out on the overseas online stores.
  19. I think more people have now read a responded to the letter on the hub than the guys that buy the mag
  20. @Bobby you are a true gentleman and from what I read unbelievably passionate about what you guys are busy with. Thank you for taking the time to give all these answers to us. It is going to be tough, but good luck, I think if you can stay patient, you will bare the fruits on offer. I myself can unfortunately not contribute. Maybe, as an suggestion, one can establish a visible place where donators can get recognition. MTB is being seen as the new golf, sponsoring teams are much more expensive. I do believe that if one can grab the corporates and give them exposure, you can get more money. Maybe you can have something like a website with the sponsors and give updates there or weekly newsletter, or even a Hall of Fame to the contributors at BMT, the specialized shop in S/Bosch or Ride In. Something subtle, or sell clothing that has the sponsors names on. That way they get recognition, of they want, and Jonkers stay nice and clean. As for the fight with Scott, I guess unless Cape Nature/Pine steps in, that will remain a headache. Good luck and thanks again.
  21. Ja nee, storm in a tea cup. Just bran Ride inn better and tell them there what it is about. Think it will do more harm than good to implicate the Spez brand in this and go and close and even destroy the trails. Spez must just come up with something better, aka Merc ad and then the Jacquar reply
  22. I recon if you enter the first one and are fit, you could walk away with the money. Not sure if the pros will commit to this first time round, unless the money is the big drawcard, but will mess up their season. Will be interesting to see if they can grab the imagination of the top pros
  23. Well, I think if they give everybody's money back and leave it, then they do not really net permission to stop funding it. I someone else ie Scott, comes along and pick up the pieces, then it is their prerogative.
  24. Will be sad, but do understand the "gentleman's" agreement rather than the legalities. Sad that these sort of things always has to happen.
