Will my voorkom dat dit nogal heel vol fiemies is as dit kom by die plasing. If all else fails, laar Polar dan na die ding kyk. Hulle diens is iets ongeloofliks.
  2. Who was saying this country has a bright future?
  3. Wannabe, jy gaan dalk net gebl!ksem word deur n paar van die ouens. Hekpoort, 6.8% gradient, 181m Ascent, 2.71 km Ou Kaaps, 4.5% gradient, 309m Ascent, 6.58 km Ou kaaps is longer but you could climb it without even going anearobic. Hekpoort tends to raise you heart rate a bit. Gummie, you should have this info. I mailed it to you.
  4. Marius, where is the bell .... you know ... the one that will match your Heidi shirt.
  5. Not even with Red Bull!!!
  6. There is no way that anybody can convince me that the mountain bikers can damage fountains valley more than the other non cycling folk "enjoying" booze there. It has happened that I had to carry my bike, on that road passing the entrance, for about 500 meters because all four lanes were covered with glass.
  7. Normally I am alright with two bottles of energy drink, but every now and then the water is a nice alternative.
  8. I don't normally use the waterpoints at races, but would use them more if they dish out sachets at water points. The amashova had only one water point where they handed out sachets with just water in it. Unfortuantly I was on the wrong side of the bunch and could not make use of it. Why could they not have had water at the other points. All the other points had enegade in cups. Can't grap a cup while riding, but the sachets is easy to grap while passing. Sometimes you just get gatvol of your energy drink and water would be a nice alternative. The rest of the race was wonderful. The Shova rates as one of my favourates.
  9. Sorry but can't help laughing at the reasoning here. Make no mistake, I am all for this campaign and would like to see more people cycling to work. But taking the current situation in account these points made me laugh: "Increased productivity and economic growth. " - Jip productivity would be at its best if I have to wait an hour and a half for a bus. 'Manageable rate of emissions of poisonous gasses in urban environments. " - Wonder when they will start having a look at the emissions of the busses currently on our roads. "Fewer cars mean fewer accidents on our roads. " - Instead of one guy getting killed in his car, 10 will die because the the idiot driving the taxi decided to pass traffic with oncomming traffic on its way. "The government can save the money it would have used to build and maintain roads and spend it to improve the lives of the poor by providing more housing, water, and social grants. " - Or the other big spender is the renaming of towns and airports that normally gets a higher priority than the other things mentioned here. How many keen hubbers aren't there that would gladly cycle to work had it not been for our ignorant motorists. When will they be launching campaigns to educated all motorists and start doing propper traffic control.
  10. Epoh, sien jou in die A bunch. Sal jy my vir die eerste 15 kilos dalk kan sleep seblief?
  11. Crux, just let me know if you need someone to ride that bike in. Will be only too glad to help out.
  12. Well I started about 5 years ago, wife just got started but is now pregnant, so she is off the bike for a while and then it took quite a few months of brainwashing to get Snapshot on the bike. Always thought she would do well in this sport. The clock does not lie. Did not always get the recognition she deserved in all her other sports.
  13. Mampara, I think it is the tyres. I have new rims as well, but had the same problem when they were on my old set of rims. I used to use another brand (cant get to the name now) but I think it is off the market, which was 80 bucks a tyre, could put it back on without using tyre levers on the same rim and gave me a good 3 - 4 thousand kilos.
  14. What tyres would you well informed guys should one use for a road bike. Here is my problem. I am currently using Vredenstein tyres sold to me by my LBS. It is however a mission to remove this tyre. I am not interrested in a tyre, if I will be using a box of tyre levers to change it or to fix a puncture. My criteria is as follow: Ease of use Grip Cost (Good value for money) Durability What suggestions be from you guys.
  15. My 720 warranty was 2 years. Moonlight - they would be able to tell you exactly how old that hrm is just by checking the serial number.
  16. Sorry ... this weeks sokkie is cancelled. Someone stole the cables for the traffic light.
  17. mail me at ludwig.willner@sita.co.za. Have got it somewhere. Will have a look for it.
  18. Thanks to everyone for all the info. The following three things came to light that I can say what was the problem so far. 1. As mentioned in one of my previous posts on this thread. The saddle was too far backwards. Corrected that and it had quite an impact on Saturdays ride. 2. Noticed this morning that my saddle was about 1 cm too low. Fixed that up and had an encrideble comfortable ride. 3. As Michelle said earlier, I need more training. My climbing was alot better this morning just after this weekend alone. I think my extra 10 kilos to work I started doing in the last two weeks also helped. Once again, thanks everyone. Look out. One of these days I will be soring past most of you guys again
  19. Noooot. Why pack away over the weekend. That doubles up as the lighting on the Sokkie Jol.
  20. Thanks to everyone who attended and made it such a great day. A special applause to Michelle and Jokerman for going up Hekpoort after 90 kilos in the legs. Crux, can't thank you enough for all your time you invested and also all the slipping you supplied me to crawl back home. Pity I had to look into Spidey's face for most of the time, but it did make me feel bit stronger (seeing that the strength ... well ... she was not there). Had a great day and the results are awesome. Could feel the difference this morning gotting back on the bike.
  21. I have a new saddle for a couple of months now. Problem that I have noticed is that the bloomin thing in time does slide backwards (It should be set as much as possible forward for me). Now that could have and did have an impact on comfort in general. But the problem is, the moment I kick back to put some power in the pedals, I actually push myself off the saddle, hence get up and stand. If I stay seated then it feels I don't get to push down hard enough on the pedals. Maybe Michelle is on to something there. Maybe I must just training harder on my climbing again.
  22. What irretates me is that I used to climb with good rythm while sitting. All of a sudden I simply don't get rythm while sitting.
  23. I would like to here the general oppinion of you guys on this. When I started cycling I was told that it is better to sit while climbing. You tend to spend less energy. That is also what I used to do and I climbed not too badly sitting. But lately I am not confortable when sitting while climbing. I prefer to stand nowadays. What could the cause of this be? Maybe bike setup? Or should I not worry about this.
  24. Jokerman, you're in soooooo deep. She is gonna give you a route that will make the Jock look like a kiddies ride.
  25. Jason, don't forget about me dude. Will bring my own coffin.
