Did the half marathon with my wife. Was her first race in a long time after giving birth 4 months ago. I dropped from my seeded batch C to her I batch which was the last batch for the half marathon. We knew we would be doing plenty of passing. It was carnage out there! On most of the climbs there was a line of people walking their bikes. Generally, everyone was very good at keeping left and allowing us to pass. Like mentioned above, not a lot of free Km's. Had to work for that medal. We liked that the venue was very close to home. Overall, we really enjoyed the race and will be back. The hot weather and climbing made it tough but a good day out.

How does it work with riders on E-Bikes? There was one guy I noticed in my batch C and he did very well with a good time. I couldn't care less about what position I come overall, sex or in my class. It is all about the time which is my goal. Just curious to know how the E-Bikes fit into the results.

So after 3 reseeding submissions, 2 declines, I finally got a Whatsapp to say I have been reseeded to C. I wanted B, but will take C after initially been seeded in E. I'm done fighting...lol.

Last year did a 02:45 in Batch B. Was seeded in Batch E. Asked for a reseed into Batch B again and received the below Whatsapp response today: We declined your request. Factors we consider when reviewing a seeding request: - We only move riders to an earlier batch based on merit - Space availability in the requested batch All the best Team Ride Joburg

Same here! Why is the seeding a mess every year? Have also lodged a seeding query. I see seeding queries close tomorrow.

Brilliant event! Parking was easy. I was seeded in VA but decided to drop and ride with A batch. I see in the results they have assumed I started with VA and thus an extra 40mins on my actual time. Anybody have a similar results difference when dropping back into another batch?

Thanks for the info. Helps a lot. I hope those that have been seeded into these racing categories through no choice of their own know they cant join racing groups behind.

Howzit Hubbers Some advice please. In the last 94.7 in 2019 I was seeded A in the Open seeded. Decided to start in A but was dropped on the first climb - pace was intense. I then waited for B and rode with B to the end. This year I have been seeded VA ???? I don't recall entering the racing class? Do you need a racing CSA license? A few years ago I by mistake entered the VA racing class for an Amashova event (I didnt select Open seeded). On the day I started with VA and also got dropped early on. I just thought I would wait for the next batch VB/VC to catch me. I tried to join the next batch but then the race commissaire vehicle following the batch said I could not ride with the later racing batches. It ended up being a long day out for me on my own. I wonder if the same will apply to 94.7 if starting in VA batch and not being able to join other batches starting behind after being dropped? Thinking of rather dropping back and starting with B. Thanks.

Went riding on the red route yesterday and the mud was not bad at all. Not any but for a few small areas - nothing to worry about. The problem I found was the blackjacks! Very overgrown with blackjacks in many areas. Overall had a lekker ride but would be nice if the track was cleared of the overgrown blackjacks.

What a brilliant race!! Definitely my favorite grand tour. Tao and Jai were excellent. Both had different intentions at the start of the race. They both stepped up when their main GC team mates were no longer in contention. Hats off to Rohan Dennis. He was incredible over the last few stages riding for Tao. I never used to like him after last year ie abandoning the Tour, blaming his equipment, not a team man etc. I now have huge respect for him! Now to switch focus to the Vuelta

Hi fellow Hubbers I please need some help with regards to bike bags. I want to start transporting my bikes via air travel. I have a MTB (L - 29) and Road bike (L). Is there a bike bag that can be used for either? Dont want to have to buy two separate bags - will never be travelling with both bikes. Happy to spend a bit more for a bag that can be used for both. In terms of brands, is there a particular brand to buy and should the bag be hard case or soft? I am also keen on going second hand. Thanks.

Hi All Thank you for all the updates. I have been following the comments as to know when to go out and hit the trails. My wife and I went to Modderfontein on Saturday and it was awesome! Trails were really good. Thank you to the new management and thank you for accepting previous multiple ride cards. Well marked and no fallen trees on the track. There were a lot of walkers/runners but did not encounter any on the single track so was easy to pass.

I have signed up. Doing stage 1 today. Still debating if I should do the 50km group ride or the 20km race. Also want to try and finish the Cape Epic Mission in between the Tour of Watopia. That bike as a prize is amazing!

I have completed stage 1 and 2 long rides. Stage 2 KOM at the end nearly killed me. That climb goes on forever! A lot of people go hard in the beginning and then start going backwards when the climbing starts. Both events were 1500+ riders. One continuous line of riders until the climbing starts and the gaps appear. I am doing stage 3 long ride tonight at 7pm. I think it is Watopia.

I also cant find my result. Seems to also be a problem with B Batch. No ways only 175 riders finished from B batch.
